So Colin at GBN Draft Report has posted a 3-round prediction for the 2022 NFL Draft.
The Giants select:
Round 1, Pick 5: OT Evan Neal, Alabama
Round 1, Pick 7: WR Drake London, USC
Round 2, Pick 36: TE Jalen Wydermeyer, Texas A& M
Round 3, Pick 69: DE Arnold Ebiketie, Penn State
Round 3, Pick 81: OG Cade Mays, Tennessee
Most of these picks seem okay to me (admittedly so-so on Neal), except for Drake London and his ankle (broken in late October 2021). Seems a bit high to go at that point on that.
2022 3-round projection - (

What do you think of Pickett? I have not seen much of him to be honest. I keep hearing small hands, etc. What would be a good NFL comparable?
It sucks because we paid big money for Golladay and drafted Toney first overall, but the truth is we need a playmaker at WR, especially in today's NFL. Everyone wants the new administration to evolve with the 2022 NFL. Well guess what? That requires playmakers on the outside. (And, yes, I know we need OL and EDGE desperately.)
Likely because he is the only QB who can potentially be a 2022 Week 1 starter. That being said I have concerns about his upside because he was, for 4 years, putting up Daniel Jones numbers in a pro style offense. If you are talking about Kirk Cousins upside or Daniel Jones/Mitch Trubisky more realistic projection that is not something you want with a Top 15 let alone Top 7 pick IMHO.
7 - LB Nakobe Dean Georgia
37 - Edge DeMarvin Leal Texas A&M
69 - TE Trey McBride Colorado St
79 - DL Logan Hall Houston
109 - C Alec Lindstrom Boston College
146 - G Marquis Hayes Oklahoma
170 - OT Erik Swenson Oklahoma
183 - RB Travis Dye Oregon

I only have watched a highlight video. He can sling it. And he runs very well. Seems to be accurate and throws with anticipation. He just seems like a really good football player with moxie. His fake slide is one of the best plays of the year, pro or college. I think he has a chance to be an excellent QB. A chance. Not a guarantee. He is listed at 6-3 but I think he is 6-2. Big enough, but if he was 6-5 I bet he would be a top-3 pick for sure.
I think a buzz is going to happen around a couple of these QBs.

Leal not gonna slip that far but love it if he does
Thinking we could get Denver #2 in a swap
Trade down from 7 too and maybe still grab linderbaum ( for a 3 and 4)
Two 1s
Two 2s
Three 3s
Two 4
Two 5
We can rebuild oline, fortify front 7 ( ILB,ER and dline)and grab a couple skill position players in rd 3/4 that may have some upside

I keep thinking of that scene from Moneyball, if he can hit well then why hasn’t he hit? For four years he looked barely draftable. I don’t trust that the light suddenly came on as opposed to the more likely scenario that he was vastly more experienced in his offense than opponents were in their defense which is definitely not the case in NFL.
Small hands is always a risk just saying.
This is not a good quarterback class overall.
I think Pickett is a second rounder if it was a stronger QB class. There is no elite traits with Pickett but he is very sound. I worry a bit that it took him until age 23 to break out at Pitt. Prior to that, he was a slightly above average ACC QB
Corral IMO has better tools than Pickett in terms of arm strength. The one down fall is he's a one read guy and if its not there, his first instinct is to run. He also has some accuracy issues, and is a bit undersized though he thinks he is the size of Josh Allen when he is running. Don't know if his style of play will translate to the pro game very well. I do like how much he elevated his team- there is something to be said for that. I think Corral is a slightly more athletic Baker Mayfield.
IMO the only first round QB in terms of physical talent is Willis, but he is very raw. Willis has ALL of the physical tools though. Dynamic runner, absolute cannon of an arm, quick compact release, elusive, strong, and good at throwing off platform. Hate the turnover issues and simplified spread offense he played in will not make the transition any easier. He'll need great coaching, a year or two on the bench, and an offense that is tailor-made to his strengths. I do see some young Donovan McNabb in his game.
Get your QB in next year's draft and take advantage of the 5 spot by fielding offers for it so as to build draft capital in the future. Build the lines and go from there until a franchise QB presents himself to the NYG---which will most likely not be until next year. It'll be another losing season next year, but I'm sure we'd all be fine with it as long as this team is built the right way and headed in the right direction.
There you go-
24 Trevor Penning OT
27 Tyler Linderbaum OC
34 Drake Jackson Edge
42 Brandon Smith ILB/OLB

Jaminson goes down so he just replaces the name with the next wr on his list.

Were you around during the Parcells winners? Who were the Giants' wide receivers? It's not easy to remember. Mark Ingram, Stephen Baker, Touchdown Maker
It would be lunacy to draft a wide receiver that high. No quarterback - not Manning, not Jones, not those two backups - can complete passes when he has two seconds.
Draft pass blockers or pass rushers. Add a star disruptive pass rusher and with the return of Martinez this can be a top half defense next season.

It seems the NFL is moving from you never had enough pass rushers to you never have enough pass catchers. Like running backs, receivers are gonna have a hard time making it through a 17-game season unscathed. Chances are that rookie WR you just took in round one is going to end at least one of his first four years on IR. Load up on positions of most importance because it's a war of attrition out there.

Good thoughts here. Physically, outside of his height, Willis is indeed the only first-round prospect for all the reasons you stated. But there is a lot of fat to his game. If his gets to the right situation where that fat can be trimmed, there could be quite the filet mignon.
I am not opposed at all to grabbing him in the second round.
I'd like them to address Edge/LB especially. A depth add too at DT/RB can happen given the number of picks they have. Giants can't bank on Martinez coming back the same or being a long-term fixture beyond 2023.
I think QB can wait unless the new GM has a guy he loves as a developmental type in the mid rounds. But the QB depth is pretty weak this year. There's 4-5 guys and then massive drop off.
Interesting and critical offseason ahead.
No issue with WR in the 1st if its BPA, but I prefer a WR with Wilson's profile who gets a lot of separation.

dean is such an interesting player. LOVED what i saw vs bama. There was a play near the goaline where the LBer who plays next to him missed a cross route pick up and he was able to to jump on it and stop bama from scoring. He immediately called out the player (which i dont love) HOWEVER, it seemed to be in a positive, leader type way. I think dean would be an excellent center piece to a defense. The ONLY reason i am against this is i belioeve martinez will bounce back from injur yand i think smith should be brought back. those two with crowder behind isnt bad at ILB.
He has a strong, accurate arm and excellent mobility. Kenny is an exceptional leader, and he reads defenses masterfully.
Pitt and Rutgers have virtually the same number of NFL players. Pitt had one of the most explosive offenses in the country, and Kenny Pickett was the reason.
I have a friend who speaks to two NFL scouts frequently. They felt Kenny has the potential to be an excellent NFL QB.

I agree he has a shot to be excellent, and by excellent I mean top-10. But it's a risk. We have to admit that. That crazy moxie that he has, is he more Johnny Manziel or more Joe Burrow. I wouldn't be upset if the Giants took a shot at him. But then we must be honest about what he is, heading into the 2023 draft.

To me that is a dealbreaker. If we have to be honest who our 2022 Top 7 pick is going into 2023 Draft he was not worth that pick. That high you better be picking players that, absent injury, you expect to be giving at least a second contract to.
Having said that there are good players to be drafted and a fairly deep draft.
