No Surprise- Evan Neal Enters the Draft

Ian Rapoport
@RapSheet
Alabama OT Evan Neal, a potential No. 1 overall pick & one of the best players in college football, is declaring his intentions to enter the NFL Draft, Neal told me. A Day 1 starter at #Bama, the 6-foot-7, 350-pound junior captain was a consensus first-team All-American in 2021.

Indeed. About 40 minutes gone.
I'll tell you something

The more clips of Charles Cross I watch, the more he might be my OT1

I love his game. He will be a damn good player. He is my target at 5
I like Cross a lot too Anak

Though you and I seem to be the minority on that. Neal and Cross and 1 and 2 for me. Though, to be fair I didn't see much of NC state this year for whatever reason.

Im not gonna claim to be an OL expert but he moves so smoothly, especially in his pass sets.
Cross or Ekonwu

make a lot of sense. I wouldn't be surprised if we took one and traded down with the other pick if possible to get another 2nd.

I really like what i have seen from Ekonwu with his versatility.
Still early but

leaning defense at #5 and hopefully a tradedown from #7 before they pick OL. Doesn't figure in a QB tho.
i'd be all for Neal
UConn4523 : 1/13/2022 1:03 pm : link
although I don't know if he's going to have issues holding up like Becton has and will continue to do.
All in on Neal if he is available at number 5

Trade down from number 7 to the mid teens and draft Linderbaum.
Sign Connor Williams from Cowboys in FA.

Give me Hamilton at 5 and then a trade down, acquire more picks and get better value with OL
I think y’all need to watch

Neal a little bit more. His glaring flaws were super evident during the championship game and throughout the season. The balance issue and problem with speed rushers are real, and I’ve cooled down on him a bit. I like Ekwonu from NC State a lot and think he’d be a better fit. If we went Neal I wouldn’t be mad, but I’ve started to see those weaknesses show more and more and I don’t like it

He can't really be long gone since there are only 4 picks ahead of him. Assuming Thibodeaux and Hutchinson go in the top 4: If a QB goes, or if the teams ahead of the Giants take cornerbacks, Neal could fall. I just ran a couple of PFN sims. In the first, he went #1 overall. In the second, the Giants passed on him twice (taking OL Kenyon Green instead) and he fell to #8.

I think it's about 50-50 whether he's available when the Giants pick.

If he's picked in the top 4 then there's a good chance BPA at #5 isn't at a need position. Though the Giants have need at almost every position.

I don’t think it’s a guarantee that he goes top 5
giantBCP : 1/13/2022 2:58 pm : link
He’s huge, but I think he will struggle with the speed of NFL edge rushers. Comparing him to a similarly sized player in Becton, I also don’t think his body is as well put together.

This. I am most excited about the potential pairing of Hamilton and McKinney for our backfield. He seems like the safest and most likely player available when we are on the clock, kid is dynamic. One of our two picks would be wise to sell for more ammo next year and this year for day 2-3.
What are thoughts on Linderbaum?
FStubbs : 1/13/2022 3:59 pm : link
We do need a center.

What are you gonna do in the first round of the BBI Mock Draft this year without a pick for Da Bears Anakim?

Get Neal, or Cross at 5, trade back with the 7th and grab Karlaftis or Linderbaum and then LB Dean from Georgia with the extra pick and that would be amazing
