Generic NFL MVP thread.
Seems like the odds are in Aaron Rodgers’ favor, but there has been a late push for Brady to win it. Even though it seems settled, it’s actually not a slam dunk lock that we know who wins it.
I’m not asking who you think will win it. It will be one of those two, probably Rodgers despite the off field stuff. Kupp and Taylor will be honorable mentions.
I’m asking who you think should win it this year.
Also, name some guys that you don’t think will win it but deserve a shout out for being super valuable. I don’t think Josh Allen is MVP but that dude makes some plays that blow my mind and has elevated that franchise.
But the unsung MVPs of the league is the Tampa OL. JFC, it seems like Brady has all day to throw. It's like he's play touch football and you can't rush the QB until you count to "five Mississippi".
Then it's Brady or Stafford.
Should be Cupp
As much as I respect Kupp, I actually think Taylor was the most impressive non-QB this year. He killed it down the stretch. I know the Colts imploded but we all know that’s not on him.
Brady had 200 more passing attempts to get that and was picked off 8 more times. Rodgers leads in almost ever advanced passing metric, some by a large margin.
You can hate Rodgers all you want but it’s his award and he earned it.
Doesn’t work like that. Henry didn’t even get a vote last year, 88% (44 votes) were Rodgers.
Peter King, an MVP voter, said today he spoke with a lot of the 50 voters. He expects Rodgers to win easily.
Don't understand why Watts doesn't at least get considered.
But we can safely predict it will not be Jones, Glennon, or Fromm
Kupp could be considered too.
Oh yeah, a second round pick. Some teams know what they are doing at the draft
oh yeah, 3rd round pick
I wonder if it's time to do what MLB does, and have a Cy Young type award for QB's. I get it, it's the most important position on the field, but I don't think there's been a non-QB to win since Adrian Peterson 10 years ago? There are 2 non-QB's - Cooper Kupp and Jonathan Taylor - who have had remarkable, historic seasons, but will they even finish in the top 5?
I know there's an OPY award, but that has none of the prestige the MVP does.

That's what OPOY is for and I think it carries prestige. Its effectively exactly that (Cy Young vs. MVP).
I don't really see the issue here - 2 players (a QB and non QB) are going to be considered the best at their jobs at the end of each season.
2. Brady
3. Stafford
4. Taylor
5. Kupp
6. Saquon
But it's close.
But it's close.
No, he didn't.
But it's close.
Brady threw the ball like 200 more times. He had a great year as well but he is second to Rodgers...
Yeah I imagine the vote will be closer than last year since Rodgers didn't have the TD volume like he did in 2020, but his season was just ridiculous and I expect a fairly comfortable win still.
How hard is the NFL rooting for that rematch in the NFCC? Really hope Bakhtiari gets back to form, want to see that game played at its peak competitiveness.
Just saying…
