Sirius Papa and Weis all HC & GM related (just sharing)

jvm52106 : 1/14/2022 10:18 am
Papa- mentioning how Bears GM list is different than the Giants and Vikings.

Weis- sometimes teams just have different looks.

Papa- asking if the rumor is true about Quinn having the Broncos job if he wants it.

Weis- says Vegas has him even odds to get it and though Weis texts with Quinn they don't talk about job openings. Rumors flying that Quinn has a staff already lined up for his next gig. Weis says he does know Quinn is loving being the DC with the Boys.

Weis believes regardless of Boys being out in playoffs or winning it all, Quinn will be a HC if he wants to be. Believes Quinn is in no big hurry to make a decision. Denver all the talk is all we need is a QB but, Weis says he would be more concerned about the ownership situation right now.

Papa- says he read an article that now that the court issue is over they have a number of possible suitors and a decent idea already on who the new ownership group will be. The rumor also says Peyton Manning is part of one of the ownership groups. Peyton currently lives in Denver. * Note worthy that Elway is part of a second ownership group bidding on the team.

Speaking of Peyton Manning,

with his knowledge of personnel and league acumen, I believe he’d prove to be a solid GM, if he cared to be (doubt it). John Lynch did very well from the virtual get-go as a first timer without admin. experience. Just sayin’

Hey Bruce, so glad to see you back. Nice to have a more middle of the road mindset with the extreme sides we see here. I think Peyton would be great in that role but not sure he wants that.
Talking minority representation in GM and HC

roles right now. Weis says let's see where we are when the dust settles as 1/4 of the league needs HC's and some of those both HC and GM.

Weis syas both Bowles and Leftwich are good candidates but he is a bit slow on them right now as he believes one of them will eventually be TB's coach.

Papa brings up Eric B. as a guy who has cooled. Weis says he mentioned him but he starts to think the Chiefs offense waned some and that Eric B might be a victim of stereotypes and not racial ones. The fact that Reid is the play caller can certainly work against Eric B.
Peyton Manning is rich beyond belief

Why would he want to take on that kind of job? From what we’ve heard he’s got his eyes on eventually owning a team. He’ll pay someone else to do the day to day dirty work
I wonder who is more popular in Denver,

Peyton or Elway?

True, I said I doubted it, but I’d love to have him here. A pipedream. A very long one.

The Athletic had an article earlier about the Bears last decade of coach/GM/QB never being on the same page. It is worth a read.
Talking Raider vs Bengals
jvm52106 : 1/14/2022 10:47 am : link
and how it is the only playoff matchup with both starting QB's playing their first playoff game. Weis talking about pulling for Carr as a guy who is constantly under rated.

Papa- Raiders get the most pressure on opposing QB's with the least amount of blitzing.

Both guys are picking the Bengals, being at home but Weis is rooting for the Raiders.

Papa (stat)- first team since at least 1940 to have 10 or more wins and a point differential of -50 or more. Raiders were -65 points this year.

Elway has taken some flack due to the performance of the team and his involvement with that, mainly the fact that he was unable to find a QB since Peyton retired.

Ask yourself why Lynch was able to succeed so quickly in this league and look who his first hire was. Its a ringing endorsement for his Assistant GM.

He might be good at it, but I would be shocked if he took a job with several people above him. He is probably looking to be an owner, not a worker.
