Mara “likes” Flores..

TrustTheProcess : 1/14/2022 8:24 pm
@Jordanschultz, Don’t sleep on the prospect of Brian Flores to the #Giants. I’m told owner John Mara “respects and likes Flores” -- a Brooklyn native -- and that Flores would prioritize the G-Men job “at or near the top of his list,” per a source close to the situation.

the HC to be the offensive coordinator and play caller. I thought not having to call offensive or defense plays was going to be an advantage with Joe Judge; turned out - zero advantage.

Didn’t work out so well with Shurmur and MacAdoo. They key for whatever coach they hire is to bring in good coordinators.
I like Flores a lot

but the future GMs stamp means way more than John Mara. If Mara knew how to read a room, which he clearly does not, he’d hire a guy, get out of the way and let him hire his guy. No one cares what Mara thinks of a potential HC hire and I want someone who knows football to make that call
I am done with NE coaches

I want a progressive offensive coach that's the way this league is going. The rules are slanted to the offensive game.
Let the GM pick the HC!!!!!!!

Absolutely. Mara has no idea anymore how to select a coach.

You're so right. You can't trust Mara as far as you can throw him. He's entered the clueless zone with his decision making.

wow, really?

We might be able to get Watson or a top QB... he wants to make a move for a QB.

/hot GM candidate who isn’t overly involved but is sitting in on interviews if someone who could potentially fire him. The Maras are going to be involved in picking the coach. Hopefully for optics they’ll at least wait until they hire a GM but I’m not holding out hope
I’m warming on the idea of Flores big time
Chris684 : 1/14/2022 9:19 pm : link
I feel like he’s not really a retread but also not true first timer with no experience.

I think the comp for Flores where it can become tricky is Eric Mangini. I think it’s clear Mangini could coach but he turned out to be too much of an asshole.

I think Flores can coach, can he tone down the asshole perception a little bit? If he can you may have a keeper for a long time.

You want a top flight OC you need to make him your HC. there is not enough to go around.

Why people are upset about this. Many in this board were shocked when Flores was fired and said they would love to have him here. Now there’s a tweet that the owner likes Flores and ppl are pissed.

How hard is this?????
John In CO : 1/14/2022 10:48 pm : link
Stop pretending you are an expert on football, you are a CEO....so you hire someone who has a strong proven football background as a GM, and let them make the coaching decisions, then sit back, and watch your franchise slowly recover.

WHY is this so hard????
I like him too
Spider43 : 1/14/2022 11:21 pm : link
I think he got a raw deal. But like most, I'd want the new GM to have input first, then see where things go.

It may not be Flores that people are skeptical about, but simply that Mara voicing his opinion about coaches suggests that he might assert his preferences upon the GM.

Yet, he is picking the GM who will pick the HC.

So, what he like Flores. Probably likes half dozen people.

Who from a far, from a no nothing fan like me, seems like a pretty viable candidate, is about to become a big no for some because the owner is said in some innocuous blurb to like him,……..ok then.

Flores coming here
JohnF : 1/15/2022 10:55 am : link
will depend on the new GM. The reports (which may or may not be true) coming out about Flores being let go is that he clashed several times with the Miami GM (Grier). If that's true, than most GM's (unless they know him) are going to stay away, though I wouldn't doubt Ownership in many teams forcing a choice on them.

Unless the new GM is comfortable with Flores, and knows he can work with him, Flores isn't coming here. I think the last thing John Mara is going to do right now (after the last three choices) is over ride the wishes of his new GM on this. Unless the GM and the new coach work well with each other, nothing will change.

Former Dolphins coach Brian Flores is being viewed as the strong favorite to take over the Houston Texans by numerous coaches and general managers involved in this hiring cycle. Flores interviewed with the Texans on Friday and there is a strong anticipation that a deal with Houston could come together very quickly.
