Teams get short weeks every single year. There’s literally no difference between playing Monday this week, then Sunday next week and what they have always done and have teams play a Sunday game in the wild card round followed by a Saturday game in Divisional round. It’s not nearly as a big a deal as I keep seeing people saying it is on this site. Much ado about nothing
Looking forward to this game. The Bengals have enough
horsepower on Offense to really separate themselves from a decent but also flawed Raiders team.
Even with Burrow playing at a high level, I would use a heavy dose of Mixon because Raiders can make things interesting with their decent pass rushers. Bengals give up a ton of sacks and playoff games can swing big-time on one or two turnovers...
with that brutal loss to the Jets. Also huge amount of respect for the LV players and staff keeping this thing together given what's gone on. Go Raiders!!! Link - ( New Window )
The Raiders pass rush vs. the Bengals OL is a dangerous matchup though. All it takes is one Crosby strip sack to change the outcome. I think the Bengals are the better team by a decent amount, but the Raiders are gritty and that DL/OL matchup worries me.
The anticipation is something, he sees something before it develops and rockets the ball in to areas that BBI would consider “covered” for a jones throw. The difference in feel and timing is quite apparent.

Ain’t that truth, the plays and throws burrow makes are the difference between a team that is consistently bottom in the league in offensive production and one at the top. Qb is the difference. I don’t know the next time we ll see a giants qb like that, but it would be incredible.

I didn't think he fielded the ball inbounds...Raiders should have had it at the 40.
Huh? He has to establish himself out of bounds before he touches it. He absolutely was in bounds. That's why you're taught to put one foot out of bounds before touching it. Once he touches it before he is actually out of bounds it can't be a penalty

OK help me out. He was in the air, caught the ball, and both feet landed out of bounds. So that is inbounds? I guess I never knew that...

Well don’t we all view this through a “Giants lens.” I mean I wanted Joe Judge fired as much as anyone, but I watch this game and I see Allen doing what he is doing as a young coach in Year 3 after Burrow got hurt last year (not as similar to Jones but the swoon really took place after he went down), then there was that ST brain fart by the Raiders coach, who by all accounts has done a nice job, but isn’t he a ST coach (criticism we have used against Judge). The point is that if you watch another game and discuss among Giant fans they are naturally going to try and draw parallels between the Giants and what they see on screen.

Yes, to be considered out-of-bounds you have to physically touch the line and beyond, hovering above the line doesn't count as out-of-bounds. So he touched the ball before being technically out-of-bounds.

For me, the Giants season is behind me. Not worrying about it anymore, moving on, only interest now is the new GM/Coach and looking at potential draft picks. Giants stink...not news...Absolute waste of time constantly whining and bitching and moaning about the same things over and over and over again....Jones sucks, Judge sucked, DG sucked....yeah think we have covered all that territory in the last 4-5 years. No big deal, but immediately after Burrows first touchdown I checked and sure enough there was a post comparing him to Jones. I just thought it was funny.
By the way I like Jones more than most here, but that doesn’t mean I think he s as good as Burrow, It s possible to be a fan of a player and still be objective. He will have to take a major step to remain the qb of the Giants, I m just one of the guys that thinks he still might.

Gotcha Joe. Thanks for explaining. Enjoy the game!
Me too. Can’t even believe he was scouted to a first round level. And then the nonsense that occurred in that draft and our guys had to be the ones to pick him.
I am kind of impressed if he can put it together to be a decent starter. It would be surprising based on his past but maybe somebody is finally getting thru to him...

No idea, was just saying this to some friends. He’s brutal.
I mean I know they mix the crews in postseason based on ratings during the year but Boger can’t manage a game as lead official and he and his crews loses consistency throughout games in crunch time on calls (holding, PI).
The NFL is a fucking multi billionaire professional league & the officiating is pure horeseshit. Good Lord. Remember the officiating in the Giants-Packers NFC Divisonal game? I still have doubts that game was on the level.

We beat the refs and the Packers that game.
It was obvious the league wanted the Packers in the SB that season

Funny thing is I know plenty of packers fans that say the refs gave us that game besides all the evidence being the opposite
These arent even close to the best teams in in theague, the 4th and 5th seed in the afc. They both do almost everything better than we do. Talent is at such a higher level that it's tough to tell if coaching is really much better, there are clearly mistakes being made but also some heads-up veteran plays. Burrow made a few passes that DJ frankly couldn't but Carr doesn't really do anything better than he does. Both have better pass pro and running games.
This is why the arguments on this board awill never, ever, end. You can use this game to bolster basically any argument about we hats wrong with the giants. You could say our coaching held us back or was goid enough. Same with qb play. Sane with OL play. Etc etc.
The Giants are bad. Just bad. Virtually everything needs to be improved. You can compete without top-10 qb play/ol/coaching/pass rush/skill positions, but you need to be good at SOMETHING. We just arent.
will be on his last year of his contract next year at $20M. Very affordable.
We need to call Mayock and test the trade opportunity for Carr.
I like Carr, gritty and under rated. Why do you think the raiders would trade him? It Something out there rumor wise? Don't see the logic for Raiders
Good questions. There has been endless speculation that Gruden was never completely sold on Carr. But with Gruden out, and the fate of Mayock unknown, I'm not sure what Davis thinks.
I would guess it would take at least a second-round pick, and at least another pick, to have a chance.
Thanks. I thought he was a high pick. I remember ND pursued him when he was in high school. He was a five star recruit.
He was highly touted for sure. Size and speed made people say he would max out as a slot corner. He was better regarded than Apple going into that draft for sure.
that you can maybe win with if everything breaks right. Not a trade target for me, we should want better if we are giving up draft picks. He’d stabilize the position but his ceiling is capped and I’d rather just stink again and draft a better player instead of giving up picks and a huge deal.

Just a horrible second half by the Raiders managing their timeouts. The inability to get the plays in and get into the right formation was embarrassing.
really just felt like not talking about the spike much huh? That was one of the single worst decisions of the year. You’ve got 30 seconds and it’s ball game. Run something. Throw it away if nothings there, or just run a quick play for 3-4 yards. Get closer. Anything is better than a spike. Any play on the 10 had line is only going to be 5-6 seconds anyway.
Bengals prove tanking when there is a generational QB

Exactly, I don’t know why you don’t lineup and at least take a shot there, not gonna take much more time to run a quick fade vs spiking the ball. Brees actually said that’s what he was expecting (the spike) but that he would’ve spiked it quicker? Strange.
RE: Bengals prove tanking when there is a generational QB
available works. Thy did it right. Didn't tank for mid pieces, didn't force a QB. They got their hopeful HOF QB.
Problem is, Burrow basically came out of nowhere. At the beginning of the season, he had not produced like he did toward the end of the year. How do you plan/tank for that?
And my Brother in law is a Raiders fan.
Soooooo Go Raiders!

That being said, I’ll go with 34-20 Bengals.
I wouldn't feel any pressure if I were the Bengals. All of those players are younger than their playoff drought lol
Really like Burrow, he just has all the tools and a feel for the game. He may end up being the best of the young qb bunch.
There is no comparison between the two players. Burrow in his last year at LSU was insanely good. His moxie in the pocket was as good as Rodgers and Mahomes coming into the league.

The team I can also see pulling a 2007 Giants is the 49ers, without the beating an undefeated team in the playoffs.

2 picks 10 PD. 61 rating on PFF.
Probably 5
He's really come on the past month or two. By far the best stretch of football he's played in his career.
Yessiry. Very bad pick. Could have had Tunsil too.

Be a non-Giants game thread with BS arguments brought up that has nothing to do with them.
Of course not.
I peeked into the game thread after Burrows touchdown to see how long it would take for a negative Jones post to appear…………..not long, hahaha.
Many of the Jones distractors were very wrong about the direction the franchise would take after this disastrous season, maybe they ll be proven wrong again about Jones,
Not to be antagonistic Joe… but I’m not sure this is true. Can you explain further what you mean?
No big deal, but immediately after Burrows first touchdown I checked and sure enough there was a post comparing him to Jones. I just thought it was funny.
By the way I like Jones more than most here, but that doesn’t mean I think he s as good as Burrow, It s possible to be a fan of a player and still be objective. He will have to take a major step to remain the qb of the Giants, I m just one of the guys that thinks he still might.
Gotcha Joe. Thanks for explaining. Enjoy the game!
Better go cry home to his mommy.
Agreed, Brees has not been good.
Also, Rodney Harrison seemed like he wanted to kick Jac Collinsworth’s ass in the pre-game lol. Weird dynamic there.
Good call. Really brutal.
He is not good. So true. I'd rather have Chris Simms in the booth.
Me too. Can’t even believe he was scouted to a first round level. And then the nonsense that occurred in that draft and our guys had to be the ones to pick him.
I am kind of impressed if he can put it together to be a decent starter. It would be surprising based on his past but maybe somebody is finally getting thru to him...

Maybe he finally picked up cooking.
No idea, was just saying this to some friends. He’s brutal.

How did he get a playoff game. Good lord.

I mean I know they mix the crews in postseason based on ratings during the year but Boger can’t manage a game as lead official and he and his crews loses consistency throughout games in crunch time on calls (holding, PI).
Sure it’s close. If you are counting the foot down when the ball hits his hands (and is secured) he takes 2 after which would be a catch.
It’s very close. The first foot came down as he caught it and then he took 2 more.
Could be incomplete but it’s close.

Feet were down, but he never caught the ball.
Needs to make a football move as well, apparently.
We beat the refs and the Packers that game.
Fuck him and fuck his mother
We need to call Mayock and test the trade opportunity for Carr.

His crew loves throwing flags.

Funny thing is I know plenty of packers fans that say the refs gave us that game besides all the evidence being the opposite

I like Carr, gritty and under rated. Why do you think the raiders would trade him? It Something out there rumor wise? Don't see the logic for Raiders
Come on man.
Don't be proud for Stroud 2023!
Apple 10
Hargreaves 11

Yes, he'd be a good short-term solution.
A lease with an option to buy...

Good questions. There has been endless speculation that Gruden was never completely sold on Carr. But with Gruden out, and the fate of Mayock unknown, I'm not sure what Davis thinks.
I would guess it would take at least a second-round pick, and at least another pick, to have a chance.
He was highly touted for sure. Size and speed made people say he would max out as a slot corner. He was better regarded than Apple going into that draft for sure.
+1
Shoot for the stars with the QB.
Feels too rich, so no. Especially with Carr on the last year of his contact.
Maybe the refs will change the spot to a first down!
So, ya know, maybe there's hope for us?
Compiler? He's got 6 GWD this year. JFC.

Doesn't help they assisted the process with additional bad plays too.

Yes, Carr is good NFL QB.
Cincy, might be taking page from Giants strategy on how to snatch defeat from the hand of victory
Sure glad we traded Hill for Price. Not.
Yup.
Carr has Been atrocious inside the red zone all year. Daniel Jones like.

Incredible fucking idiot Dave Gettlemen were... gave up a pash rusher for a broken washed up center.
Carr has Been atrocious inside the red zone all year. Daniel Jones like.
Certainly not with 26+ seconds left. Bonehead play. He needs 7 points not 3.

Agreed. Dumb decision to spike it on first down.
Even dumber throw on 4th down.
His play and demeanor remind me so much of Brady
Exactly, I don’t know why you don’t lineup and at least take a shot there, not gonna take much more time to run a quick fade vs spiking the ball. Brees actually said that’s what he was expecting (the spike) but that he would’ve spiked it quicker? Strange.
Problem is, Burrow basically came out of nowhere. At the beginning of the season, he had not produced like he did toward the end of the year. How do you plan/tank for that?

Yes, Carr is good NFL QB.
You are disqualified.
