"The way it was described to me, the Giants need to redo their scouting department. Seems like they’ve lost how to evaluate players, how to scout players, how to build a roster. They need a new GM to come in and set the foundation." - Ian Rapoport on

This is something that as a Giants fan intrigues me. Even when the Giants won super bowls in 2007 and 2011 it always seemed like we were missing alot. Credit Coughlin for his coaching and Eli for his 4th quarter heroics. Im glad they realize they are failing in this department and want to rectify it.
I really hope we are not relying on our scouts for this draft. I have zero faith in them. Hopefully whoever the new GM will bring people on board that have actively scouted this year and can help make these crucial selections count as opportunities to draft in this position do not come often...
Where is Googs?

Well, we're stuck with the scouts we got until the draft. After that, with a new GM from the outside, I bet we see some changes.

thats just the way this works, the bills when hiring brandon beane fired the staff after the draft. reason being is the scouting year starts around spring so they can't blow everything up months before the draft and have all the reports etc they need.
i believe the first draft will be heavily influenced by whoever the new GM has already been scouting for his previous team.

No team is going to let another team hire away scouts who are under contract, and definitely won't let them leave with any reports on players, before the draft. And didn't Gettleman bring in a bunch of new scouts his first year because he felt the Giants scouting needed to be upgraded?
He's nearly finished with 2 of them, so two more to go...
I've seen this posted before. Why? There are tons of research out there on prospects and if/when the new GM is hired perhaps he has his own ideas about talent. Hell just do a Zoom with Sy and come up with a list.

Yes, DG did that and the drafts got better. The last 2 drafts were not bad but Judge’s coaches didn’t do enough development. Giants are stuck with the current scouting staff but that doesn’t mean that the GM forgets about how to evaluate players himself.

yes, I heard he's spending massive amounts of minutes looking at the top 25 prospects, and ONLY the top 25 prospects on Tim McConnell's board.
we all have to hope theres not a horse emergency until the draft.
its so funny the people who defend Chris having his position... check out this quote from the draft he ditched to see his horses earn shit at the derby
“It was good,” Mara says. “But I was just saying, it’s like a yearling sale. You love ’em all, and then a year later, you hate ’em all.”
he admits he hates his team every year
How does John Mara reconcile that with the fact that Chris and Tim run that department.
But Chris is not involved and Tim is a great guy. Everyone loves a boss who is friends to everyone and holds no one accountable.
he's also played football.
Chris was probably a drunkard growing up lol
