Belichick

Mkdaman1818 : 1/15/2022 10:47 pm
After this beatdown at the hands of the Bills, is there a chance that the Patriots finally move on and give McDaniels the throne he was promised a few years ago when he almost left for Indy? Feel like he will definitely garner interest in one of the other head coaching jobs if he isn’t given the shot in New England, and this loss is kind of a great opportunity for the Pats to move on.

And of course, if this does happen, do we think Bill would come home?
no

and no
There is no way that Kraft is firing Belichick.
BigBlueNH : 1/15/2022 10:51 pm : link
No one thought this team was going to the SB. Few thought it was going to the playoffs. They lost to a much better team tonight.

I am pretty sure that BB will coach in NE as long as he wants to. It is anybody's guess as to when that will be.
No thanks to BB

Find a modern innovative coach and a Josh Allen type qb.
No way Kraft is stupider

Then Mara. It would take that level of incompetence

He’ll be 70 next year. The chance to bring in Belichick was after the 2017 season.

I don’t think he’d be fired. I think it’d be a mutual understanding that it’s time to move on, esp with Josh promised the throne. Bill might see it as tough sledding in New England and want to have a shot with the Giants. Just a thought…

Being skeptical he’d leave NE is completely understandable. Saying no to him if he’s available to come to the Giants is freakin hilarious.

BB killing it without Brady? Reminder BB has won 1 playoff game without Tom. Guess you aren’t a student of the game.

And the odds mcdaniels can replicate even a fraction of what BB has is slim to none so I don’t see why he’s even a factor in this.

BB is done being a Pat on his terms not Krafts.

I wouldn’t say no to him, just think the Giants missed their chance for him (if there ever was one).
That would be a tough one for Kraft.
St. Jimmy : 1/15/2022 11:10 pm : link
It was Brady or Belichick. You cannot admit defeat that fast. One top of that give me the Giants getting blown out in the first round of the playoffs next year. That would be a massive improvement.
Josh M
dan518 : 1/15/2022 11:12 pm : link
has already shown he's another mess like every other coach off the BB tree. Not sure Kraft would give him the team. Maybe, not so sure.
And I think people are forgetting that the
UConn4523 : 1/15/2022 11:14 pm : link
Pats offense featured Julian Edelman in 2019 and Brady amassed 24 TDs, effectively what Mac Jones did this year. That team wasn’t going anywhere with Brady either, not up against the big guns in the playoffs. I suspect Brady had a bigger hand than we think I’m leaving, he was done winning in NE and he went to the team with much more talent.

I agree 100%, but Kraft basically gave McDaniels that promise (i believe anyway) to prevent him from taking the Colts job. That has to rear it’s ugly head one way or the other, whether it’s Josh leaving, or him becoming the new HC in Foxboro.

I think people are saying wow because you make it sound like another Josh Allen is just sitting there waiting in the wings. If he keeps up the pace of the last two seasons he’s approaching legend status. Especially if he grabs a ring or two along the way. I’ve seen strong arms, and I’ve seen scrambling QB’s, but the guy does it all.

Why did we have three placekickers in this photo? Allegre, Stover, and Bahr. Seems excessive....
The Pats are rebuilding
English Alaister : 1/16/2022 7:20 am : link
Playoffs is a good return for them.

The big question is can Bill the personnel czar get Bill the coach the weapons he needs?
I would also say
English Alaister : 1/16/2022 7:24 am : link
I feel like Jones had a high floor and he's proven that. I'm just not sure what the ceiling really is there. We will know more next year... Great rookie year for sure.
Pretty sure people are saying wow
bhill410 : 1/16/2022 7:25 am : link
Because it’s an incredibly stupid take.

Dude just went to the playoffs with a rookie qb and a rebuilding roster. Quick name 5 pats - can you?
He needs another draft
Lines of Scrimmage : 1/16/2022 8:06 am : link
I think they had some pretty significant injuries as well. He knows Mac and will guide him where he needs improvements and adjust scheme accordingly.

Expect him to invest in his OL and front 7 and will not be surprised going LB in round 1.

Maybe the Giants can find their new GM. Then he can find
chick310 : 1/16/2022 8:09 am : link
the new Head Coach. And then the Head Coach can ask Belichick to become our new Defensive Coordinator. Get back to his roots.

Like I said above, the 2019 team which Brady took to 12-4 and a 1st round whooping by the Titans featured a declining offense. Anyone want to guess what the Patriots Defense ranked in 2019? Drumroll.........1st.

The talent in 2020 was bad especially factoring the opt-outs and having to start Cam Newton, 7-9 was pretty solid IMO. This year the fact that they even made it was impressive and Belichick is still cranking out top 10 and even 5 defenses.

Until they get some top players on offense they won't be able to come back often against good teams. They are designed to play with the lead and they still do that really well. They need a big time WR and for Jones to take the next step in 2022.

Lord yes. You don't get rid of guys that bring championship rings and Lil Bill has a fist full of them. They are too hard to replace. (We should know since we are about to embark on our 4th try.) No way is Kraft that fucking stupid.
The Patriots are not firing Belichik
Mike from Ohio : 1/16/2022 9:15 am : link
And if they did, he is not coming back to the Giants. This idea that his whole time in NE he has spent pining away for the Giants is fan fiction. A guy gets sentimental on a documentary and everyone thinks they have unraveled some kind of secret code.

Belichik’s departure from NE will almost certainly be his retirement, and he will almost certainly stay retired.
