The next general manager of the Giants might be the most important voice in the room when the team begins its search for a new head coach, especially if John Mara holds true to his promise that the next GM will have “the flexibility to bring in the head coach that he wants.” But that doesn’t mean the Giants don’t already have a short list. And former Dolphins coach Brian Flores and Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll seem to be at the top. Both of those coaches have been the subject of some discussion inside the Giants organization for quite some time, according to multiple sources familiar with their thinking, and they are both on the shortlists of several of the Giants’ nine GM candidates, according to various sources around the league. It’s possible that both coaches could get interviews with the Giants regardless of who is hired as the next GM. |
I am really interested in seeing where we go with GM asap and move on to the HC.
They don’t know anything.
Then IF Flores leaves in a year or two, we get more picks.
More likely Flores is a HC for the 2022 season, either for the Giants or another team.

Flores most likely destination is Houston according to Tony Dungy.
Just saying’.

Not surprising considering his absolute obsession with having Watson as his QB.
It seems like in recent years when someone becomes OC at Bama, they become a lot better a coach. It seems like that's what happened with Daboll.
Sure, Flores has flaws, but make no mistake about it…Stephen Ross is the biggest issue in Miami.
Say what you will, but Flores won 7 games in a row with a roster that isn’t very good.

This, and the GM Chris Grier should have been fired. My buddy is a Dolphins fan and he is very knowledgeable about the sport. He's wanted Grier fired for the past two years and he was livid when they fired Flores instead of Grier.
Flores does have some red flags but the guy can coach. He elevated the play of that team especially during his first year. My main concern is that Flores is known to be difficult to work with and he will need a great OC to run the offense. He might have a difficult time attracting quality OC's to the team.

Not now....the man was just freaking fired less than a Month ago! People who get fired usually get fired for a reason. Is it possible to maybe find someone who didnt just wear out his welcome with another team? And enough with the damn NE connections!!! Try another team, try Buffalo, Baltimore, KC, anyone....

He also lost 7 of his first eight playing checkers with his QBs and Flores meddling in how they employed their run game.
Flores much like Judge doesn’t seem able to attract good coaches to work with him and runs through them like Montezumas revenge.
Enough with the Patriot way and Belichick coaching tree. Time for that to go into the wood chipper of history.
But ownerships is, and has been for a while, leaning towards Daboll. And Flores, who no one was expecting to even be available.
But the GM gets to pick his own coach
And they have net even finished interviewing GMs, yet alone decided who they will hire
But the undecided upon GM is fully, 100% in charge of hiring his own coach.
This is some really strange logic and journalism…
My personal opinion is that Daboll is a better-looking OC because of Ken Dorsey's impact as QB coach with Allen.
I'd be nervous as hell to hire Daboll.
I don't get the Flores love. He might be good, but he's not yet gotten the team to the playoffs, didn't seem to do any developing with Tua, can't seem to keep a consistent coaching staff, and had a bad offensive line all three years while having a big say in personnel.
It's not like his sources heard anything from anybody on the Giants. It's somebody "familiar with their thinking" whatever the hell that means.
The timing could be interesting though.
Flores has interviewed for the Texans and Bears. Given we are likely another week or so from hiring our GM (and we can start our coach search), is Brian Flores likely to wait for our gig to come up before making a decision?
With the Bills in the playoffs, it may be a little while before Daboll is available to interview, which likely suites our GM/ Coaching schedule.

I’d expect the GM to be hired by the end of the week. They’ll finish out the first round of interviews tomorrow, determine the finalists & hammer out a deal.
Coach search begins immediately after. I’d expect both Flores & Daboll to be strongly considered.
