to get the lay of the land for HC candidates. I think they’ll do the final round of GM interviews tomorrow and probably appoint on Tuesday

Also whom are Giants requesting permission from? He’s been fired. They just have to call him.

have indicated Flores is in the running, they would line him up.
Just hoping they get the GM in house first so he can do the interviewing.

They are going to meet in person with the finalists, or at least that was what Mara said his preference was last week

I thought those rumors were discord between him and the GM. Were there issues between him and his staff or the players?

I have to believe if hired, he would be the GM's hire. If not, then I'd be more concerned with that.

the pool of HC candidates will include both recommendations from the eventual GM hire and Mara's personal preferences.

The process. Unfortunately the market sometimes means you have to adjust. They probably have a idea who they’re going with and I imagine the GM candidates told them some names and they themselves may doing some back channel work.

Hearing nothing on Flores closing with Texans may be a clue.

Mara and Tisch should have zero input into the HC candidates. You can interview and veto for conduct, but the decision should be made by football people, not owners.

I hope this is untrue. Let's get the GM nailed down first please.

Hopefully after tomorrow's interviews we get word of the final in-person GM interviews.

No interference with GM’s pick of HC. So this is meaningless UNLESS, the GMs of interest they interviewed suggested Flores or were leaning towards Flores.

in interviews and maybe the top GM candidates all indicated that they would interview Flores. That doesn’t mean he’s getting the job, only that the GMs will consider him and make a recommendation to owners for decision.

They may want to do a 2nd interview before deciding, but regardless, they have to do an in-person interview with a minority candidate before they can hire.

The one area where Giants ownership typically likes to oversee is the coaching hire. I do think we hire the GM first, but from what I see on this site that mara/tisch will put blinders on after the GM hire for the head coach piece will not happen. That being said this is a likely year that particular GM brings in his guy and its a simple bang bang process.

rooting interest except hoping the Giants would beat them in their game. But from the little I've heard and what I've seen seen if Flores burned his bridge with the GM when he was given Tuo even though he wanted Herbert I don't think I can blame him. There is no comparison between the two. I'd be pissed too if that's true. If he's the guy I sure hope he's got a great OC lined up because he didn't have a good one in Miami.

Remains to be seen if GM would want him but Flores is my #1 guy right now

They have to throw their hat in the ring before they don’t get a chance. This at least let’s Flores know there is possible interest and may hold him up from agreeing with another team until they can get the GM in place. I’m sure they have received feedback from the GM candidates interviewed that they would consider Flores.

I hate to say it, under other circumstances they would interview Graham but they need to stick to the optics they are going outside of the organization to look for answers and Flores is a legitimate candidate.

If they know that Schoen/Danollis a real possibility or Horowitz/Roman they will need to pull trigger fast and get this policy checked as quickly as possible.

Have it that the GMs they have interviewed so far have mentioned Flores as a HC candidate. If this is true, you need to let Flores know so if there is interest, he doesn’t go elsewhere prior to a NYG interview. I would assume this means Giants GM search is set to go to in person interviews early this week with a hire announced soon, hopefully as early as Wednesday.( I feel like they’d have interviews Monday and Tuesday?)

Exactly correct, they know who the GM's want or are considering. Who they interview first for HC will say a lot

Giants have to interview two external minority candidates for head coach.

There’s absolutely no harm in temperature checking Flores if the GM candidates they like, like him. The new GM will have time to interview him too.

One of the benefits of the new Rooney rules is it’s going to slow down the process and get a bunch of minority guys interviewed in person too.

The old world led to a mad scramble to hire the guy you were the most familiar with for fear you’d lose musical chairs.

very easily be from Flores' agent. One way to get your client an offer from a few of the teams he's interviewed with is to hint at potential interest from the Giants.

Have told the GM candidates they'll have almost complete control over deciding which HC candidate they like most.

It didn't say request permission. It said request an interview, probably with Flores' agent.
