How many of these 5 Giants make next year's team?

cpgiants : 1/16/2022 8:40 pm
Hernandez, Peart, Engram, Slayton, Ximines.

I believe all five are under contract for next year, but I think you could cut any or all of these five if you are new GM just to clear the air and rid the stench of the preceding era. Which I do think is important actually.

I think only 1 of the 5 depending on draft, free agency, and camp injuries...
Hernandez is a FA

So is Engram

Why is it important to cut three players on cheap contracts?

I wouldn't be at all surprised if they are all gone

Either through free agency or cutdown.

The only thing that'll save any of them is if the Giants can't find a warm body to replace them.
Peart makes it

the rest very iffy!

If the economics require keeping Solder, I think Peart is gone. We will certainly be drafting at least 1 OT
Solder is owed no money and he has no contract

he's gone. I would guess Peart starts on the PUP list. I think Slayton will be on the team. The other 3 are gone IMO.
Engram and Hernandez are FAs
BigBlueNH : 1/16/2022 8:55 pm : link
and we will not make an effort to bring either back, IMO. The rest are under contract at small $. Slayton will def be back. Peart will prob be brought back in the hope he can contribute in 2023. Ximines will be invited to camp and prob cut.

responses:

Engram: FA who won't be resigned.
Hernandez: FA who won't be resigned.
Peart: Spends the entire year on the PUP.
Ximines: Cut in the offseason.
Slayton: Comes to camp. 50/50 chance of making the team.
Slayton is the only one who's done anything
David B. : 1/16/2022 9:49 pm : link
None are a lock. Slayton could be a decent 3rd WR.

This.
I’m not sure

Peart really has a heart for the game, unless his poor performance was a jab at Judges coaching style, and knowing he had the team by the OL shorthairs.
I think he’s an injury settlement.
Why would they cut Slayton?
giantstock : 1/17/2022 2:48 am : link
Shep is gone and Golladay and Toney are questionable moake a full season.

Slayton is a number 4 WR. Keep him.
Peart

Maybe. The rest, adios
Probably just Slayton
chick310 : 1/17/2022 10:05 am : link
Peart may only make it if he changes his stripes as some of those comments from the OL Coach about his football demeanor are going to stick otherwise. The rest don't have a chance.
Slayton should stick
Jerry in_DC : 1/17/2022 10:16 am : link
He's OK and makes no money. I don't think the others will be here. New GM will have no connection to our current players and no incentive to retain the ones who aren't good
Maybe Slayton
kdog77 : 1/17/2022 5:22 pm : link
but not as a starter. He still has decent size/speed for #4 or #5 receiver on depth chart and his cap hit is just around $1M. We paid John Ross $2.5M to be just as ineffective. Keep him.

Hernandez is not worth bringing back as a back up OG and Engram is unreliable for 5th year TE. Cutting X-Man and Peart saves Giants about $1.7M against the cap.
