Say the Giants encounter a stroke of luck (ie if Jaguars take Neal, Lions take Corral, Texans take Hamilton, Jets take Booth) and Kayvon Thibodeaux and Aidan Hutchinson drop into our vicinity. Which would you draft?
I’m going Thibs. Higher floor and ceiling but it’s crazy close because Hutch really does remind me of a little bit of JJ, he just disappeared way too much in that last game.
I’d love cross and Karlaftis who is a Kerrigan clone
Karlaftis is overrated as hell and it’ll show come combine. Johnson, Ojabo, are way better. He’s JAG with a motor.
Totally incorrect. Watch him play. Strong. Array of pass rush moves at 6 4 265 can play multiple positions. Very athletic. Yea let’s see them run in underwear that’s important. Anyone who knows football knows the combine is stupid. You look at a few things like short shuttle/change of direction nobody cares how fast he runs a 40. Watch him play the game. He’s an excellent player and reminds me a lot of Ryan Kerrigan

Karlaftis also hasn’t been very productive in college either, only had 4.5 sacks this year.
Doesn’t really have great bend on tape like thibs has, which seems to translate well to the NFL level

I don't understand the Karlaftis love. Kerrigan clone? Kerrigan had 70 tackles, 26 for loss and 12.5 sacks his last year at Purdue. Karlaftis had 39, 10 and 4.5. Kerrigan had 26 tackles for loss, Karlaftis had 28 solo tackles.
Man...Georgia completely shut him down and couldn't shutdown the Bama DE (#31). If a player disappears against the best competition he plays that year, that has to be a red flag. He played well against OSU, but was a non-factor against UGA.
Both of these guys are listed as defensive ends. Will either be able
When the Giants had the 5th selection and Kevin Hardy, Simeon Rice, and Jonathan Ogden were the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th picks. In some ways I see Hutchinson as the Hardy and Thibodeaux as the Rice when comparing them for this year's draft. As for Neal being this year's Ogden, that's a stretch, but there is Hall of Fame potential there if Neal has a healthy career, just probably not at left tackle. Would be funny if USC's Drake London runs a 4.3 at the combine and shoots to the top of Jacksonville's draft board. Then we'd have the added similarity of a USC WR going #1 overall.
In any case, nobody wants to relive the top of the 1996 NFL draft, although the Giants did pretty well with the rest of their picks (Amani Toomer, Roman Oben, *Ron Stone, Danny Kanell, Doug Coleman, Conrad Hamilton) and the undrafted (Percy Ellsworth, Olindo Mare).
any of the Thibs, Hutch, Karlaftis group. Thib has the highest ceiling, but I see Jadevon Clowney. Perhaps Hutchinson who plays hard every down. I agree that Karlaftis is more 4-3 DE material and a good one, not great.
I'd rather Jermaine Johnson somewhere down in the draft, but doubt he gets to #36.(to me he is a 4-3 DE)

Hutchinson did not play very well against GA - true. But he made a few plays. GA's OL played great. So you need to give GA some credit.
Ojabo, however, is the one who disappeared and got completely shut out. That was more troublesome to me.
I have a better feeling about Thibodeaux than I do about Hutchinson, but then again I had a better feeling about Ryan Leaf than I did about Peyton Manning.

Same.
If forced, I'd probably go Hutch because he seems all in, plays hard and is available.

Meanwhile the Giants have no pass rush.
BBI. You can't make this shit up.
