I don’t think he’s as much of a Cowboy homer as Troy, but he’s insufferable in his own way. He’s all over the place too - prior to the final play he warned against getting tackled in bounds b/c the clock would expire, then he defended Dak for doing that exact thing.

Hate it for the Giants in a big moment but I still find him to be a good announcer. He needs to strike a balance and let the game breathe but his insights are some of the best in the biz.

Better then listening to goons like moose Johnston every week like the lowly Giants get.

He's very very good, but he's not quite disciplined enough to reach the top. He needs to know when to show off and when to back off. That said, I think he's a good guy and someone whose insight is first rate. He'd be very easy to listen to if he showed a little more restraint.

In fact I think he is.

He never, and I mean never shuts up. Literally. No hyperbole. He never shuts up.

There are moments when he doesn't even let Nantz call the live unfolding play because he's still rambling on.

He’s annoying because he definitely talks too much and is a bit goofy.

But I like him better than Aikman by a lot. Maybe it’s also because Nantz is better than Buck, but I just like Romo’s style more than Aikman. Tony’s intelligence advantage more than makes up for his overtalking.

Collinsworth is a weird one for me. Sometimes I like him, sometimes I don’t. Both him and Michaels think their shit don’t stink. Smart guy but just such a douche. Romo is infinitely more likeable.

Also, Drew Brees was terrible this weekend.

to Romo call every game than hear Brees ball one more. How did that guy merit jumping the line to one of the top broadcast teams? He stinks.

I watched the Nickelodeon broadcast with my sons (9 and 7). I enjoy that every year.

But he just can’t help himself from babbling endlessly. Hopefully he learns to curtail it. He isn’t interesting enough to carry the broadcast on his Schlick alone.

And he’s always been horrible. When everyone was jizzing all over him for “calling the plays” I would ask, why would you even want him to call out what’s about to happen? Forget about the fact he was often wrong, my point was, why call out the play before it happens? So fucking dumb.

Today with the drawing just before the snap, who in the fuck that was a good idea? I’m used to shitty announcers. What I’m not used to with Romo is how so many people think he’s some kind of terrific announcer.

He’s like a hyperactive kid running around the room being a douche bag and everyone is kooing and ohing and saying “oh he’s so cute”. Shut - the fuck - up!

Throws in quick little nuances right before the snap, explains things in more x & o detail quickly than anyone else. Shows how defenses fooled or tried to fool the QB, and what the QB saw that made him throw it to that receiver

All good stuff others dont do to nearly that level

I really like Tony. I think Giants fans just want to hate him but he does a great job. You need to remember that fans on this forum are not really the audience networks are trying to target so they want announcers talking.

he pointed out quickly that the ref has to touch the ball. That's not a thing that everyone realizes. But he correctly pointed out that the play would stand/the clock run out because the ref had to do that.

(On the other hand he said during the play it would be OK and they'd clock it in time.)

He talks a lot, but they all talk a lot.

He OK overall. I've seen a lot worse. (Cringes at Booger McFarlane.)

Better than that cockface Joe Buck and that scrotum breath Aikman.

Yes. It was weird that an nfc playoff game is on cbs. That was weird.

He needs to let the game breathe and should watch some film of Madden and Summerall in order to learn how to do that.

The guy just never shuts up. He should be banned from doing Dallas games. He's a ranting unabashed homer. It got so bad late the game I actually did mute the guy.

Because he was a radio announcer too, knew that a picture says a thousand words.

I get it. Romo does talk too much at times. I like the more muted style of the old time announcers - because that is how we are used to hearing a game(Madden used to talk a lot, too). But his analysis is fascinating, just like with Peyton Manning, hearing what he sees and how to attack it. Drawing the plays before the snap.

Yes, we as Giants fans can find Romo overbearing, but that is not how the rest of the NFL fans see it since he is CBS #1 analyst. As stated, there is always the volume and mute buttons.

But I talk a lot and like when other people do...so maybe that's why after reading all the comments

He steps all over Nantz during the tv broadcast.

and I actually look forward to watching the games he's calling. He's sharp and provides a lot of great insight. He was on point with all of the time management stuff he was explaining last night among other things.

He was also a bit over the top towards the end of the game, but I think he just got sucked up into all of the critical situations that were playing out. He doesn't mask his excitement well, but a lot of people find that to be an endearing trait in a color commentator. Jim Nantz, who always calls it straight, is a good pairing to balance that out.

Romo can be a bit much at times but his insight is really good and he brings a kid spirited excitement to the action that makes the games him and Nantz call stand out.

Being played over the past several weeks, I was hoping Nantz would turn back the clock for this 80’s/90’s matchup and give an opening monologue. Instead we got lazy video clips. Today’s announcers aren’t in the same stratosphere as what we came up listening to.
