Ok, I’m biased. I’m a huge Tomlin fan and have been for many years. I’d pounce on it in a nanosecond. Otoh, The Steelers seem to keep their HCs forever. Noll, Cowher, Tomlin. That’s it.
A longshot, I’m sure, but hope springs eternal..😎
And yes, he’s had the rape guy, a certain HOFer, imv,
Pittsburgh and Tomlin probably have an understanding at this point that Tomlin will decide when he wants to step aside outside of something like it being clear that he has lost locker room which has not happened.
the Steelers are very proud of the fact that they don't cycle through coaches like the rest of the NFL. They certainly aren't going to get rid of a guy who has had success and just took the team to the playoffs with a QB way past his prime.
Unless he brings with him the officiating he gets in Pittsburgh, which I believe goes with the jersey and not the coach, he is average at best. Put him in NY and you will see his immense and obvious flaws much more clearer than you do in Pittsburgh.
Cannot imagine folks who have actually followed his career in Pittsburgh aren't VERY well aware of this.

who would you hire as our next head coach. Who is your guy?

No way in God's Green Earth do they let Tomlin go. They have not fired a coach since back in 1968 (Bill Austin I believe). Haven't had to. They know their business in Pittsburgh.
Tomlin is very safe, unless he wants to leave. Will be interesting to see how the Steelers handle the QB Succession. I really feel they are behind the curve in that they have not drafted and brought along a true successor to Big Ben. I don't think they will draft a QB and start him - more likely they will pursue a veteran via FA or trade - and just watch them improve next year. The Steelers will be an attractive landing spot for a QB looking for a next move.
but you never know where Tomlin is with things. Still a very young man in terms of coaching. !5 years is a long time to be with a franchise.
I guess you could see him maybe stepping away from things for a bit especially if wants to do more of the family thing. He could come back and pretty much pick a new challenge at his leisure.
Knowing the Steelers, they will totally stink next year and are in position to draft one of the top QB's and put together another decade of good football.
you dont fire superbowl winning coaches that still continue to put a competitive product on the field despite having an aging QB who was probably done two years ago.
He’s a tremendous HC and I’m sure they’ll give him more opportunities with a new QB next season. Yea, one could always wish I suppose. I just hope we can get the next one right and keep one on board for more then two years.

Idiotic take.
In 15 years, Tomlin is 154-85-2 in terms of wins, losses and ties, a 64% winning percentage. This is approximately 10th best all-time for coaches over 100 wins.
Has made playoffs 10 of those 15 years, coached in two Super Bowls, winning one.
His worst coaching season is 8-8 which he has done 3 times.
On his way to the Hall of Fame someday. Maybe he will mention the refs that helped him win so often during his induction speech.

Yes he would not do as well here as he did there due to the dysfunctional nature of the Giants organization but the testy of your post is ridiculous.
However, if they are stupid enough to release him, I hope the Giants get him and his family a first class ticket to New York.
BTW, how about trading Jones to the Steelers? They need a QB.
I am curious to see where they go at QB. They do not have their QB of the future on the roster right now.
If however Tomlin were let go, he would have options in Chicago, Minnesota, Here with the GMen etc..
Wasn't trading Jones for Tomlin. The Steelers are not going to trade Tomlin.
Was just saying the Steelers need a QB....
Can you imagine the PR fallout of firing the only black head coach in the league after a playoff appearance?

Yeah, ok. Holy Shyte mindless.
They may go OL in the first round because that was a disaster last night, roll the dice with one year of Rudolph, and then pick a QB in two years.

Only three coaches since I've been alive (and I'm 54).

Some people really are absurd
Probably going to the hall of fame when he's done, and he's only 49.

A lock for the HOF, imo
