Kellen Moore HC Stock

CheddarPlax : 1/17/2022 8:47 am
Does it drop after yesterday? I’m not one to judge anyone based on one moment…but most people and most media personalities are. Did that one call at the end yesterday hurt his chances at all? Or at least turn some teams off to the idea of hiring him?
“ I’m not one to judge anyone based on one moment.”

Unfortunately, some here do..

In answer to your question, I don’t think so at all.
The idea
theking : 1/17/2022 8:54 am : link
Was fine, the execution was terrible.
I don't think his stock drops based on one game
Mike from Ohio : 1/17/2022 8:54 am : link
I don't think the play calling was the issue, it was poor execution. The only terrible play call was the QB draw to end the game, and I would just as easily believe Dak called that himself.
The playcall will be debated but if the $40M man slides earlier,
Spider56 : 1/17/2022 8:59 am : link
hands the ball to the official and focuses on the snap, they get another chance. Beyond that, great defense beat a great offense ... as it usually does in the playoffs.
I’m not sure he’s capable of running a whole program....
Simms11 : 1/17/2022 9:00 am : link
But he’d be a good OC and has shown that. Now he’s also got talent there and that makes a difference too.
No
Chris684 : 1/17/2022 9:00 am : link
In fact, he might be Dallas’s head coach before today is over.
He is really young
Lines of Scrimmage : 1/17/2022 9:01 am : link
I expect he will get some interviews. Jerry seems to have a thing for backup QB's and grooming them. First JG and now KM.

Tough spot for Jerry. He has a flawed team that will be tougher to keep together and some age on the OL with a QB who while good has some serious flaws. Not sure how much further a new HC can take this team.

How about coaching the fundamentals? 15 penalties yesterday. That's coaching. That's on McCarthy. Most penalized team in the league.

Fair point, but I think some of those penalties resulted from players trying to compensate facing a losing matchup. OL versus DL.

I think Jerry will fire McCarthy in the next few days and promote Moore to HC.
AWFUL Play Call - No debate
ZogZerg : 1/17/2022 9:34 am : link
Even if Dak slides and he stops the clock. You have now limited yourself to ONE shot at a TD.

They could have had 3 shots at the end zone (at least two) if they threw the ball. With the studd WRs they have, that was the way to play the end of the game.

14 penalties for 89 yards.
Gruber : 1/17/2022 9:37 am : link
There was something like 5 false start penalties.
If I'm Jerry Jones, I'm gonna be like WTF?
Crash and burn
5BowlsSoon : 1/17/2022 9:41 am : link
Thud!
It raises Joe Judge's stock
Giantimistic : 1/17/2022 9:57 am : link
as he no longer has the team that ran the stupidest QB sneak this season.
He's 33 years old.
Jerry in_DC : 1/17/2022 9:59 am : link
These coaches keep getting younger - and that can be good - but there is some threshold for experience that's needed.

I mean, he's 3 weeks older than Ryan Tannehill just for reference. He'll be a HC, but maybe not right now. Or maybe he'll be the HC of the Cowboys next year. Who knows.

Yeah, this was their year to win it all. Other than OL they're still young enough, though. They have to think about re-stocking the OL in this draft.
It drops but Prescott also changed a lot of calls
Sammo85 : 1/17/2022 10:01 am : link
But some of that mess yesterday was on McCarthy. Not just penalties but you could see his egotistic fingers on the gameplan. It looked just like his terrible game plans in GB when he wasted so many playoff runs with Rodgers as his QB.

McCarthy really is an awful HC.

Brady was winning Superbowls before his offensive coordinator entered the NFL. It happens.

I agree with this. Moore is a winner, went 50-3 at Boise and then as an undrafted QB had a nice cup of coffee in the league. I couldn't believe the announcers didn't reference Moore's Boise ties when they ran the hook & ladder.

I think Moore will be a good HC but he needs more seasoning.
what exactly
Paulie Walnuts : 1/17/2022 10:53 am : link
was the Cowboys offensive game plan?

The idea was terrible with such little time left on the clock.

Wait...why isnt that on the players? You employ bonehead players you get bonehead plays. Gregory is a fucking idiot and he committs 3 awful penalties. I get coach is about discipline but if youre coaching morons they will do moronic shit. Sorry but the penalties isnt jus MM. Its a product of dumb players who thought teams would step aside or bend over for them on their way to a super bowl. The team knows bothing about being humble and playing yhe game WISELY

Correct, which most people are getting wrong. If Dak slides 5 yards earlier and knows to give the ball to the umpire they are inside the 30 and get that final play off

It was a good call, but Dak blew it

Peppers : 1/17/2022 12:24 pm : link
He needs time yet. He struggled the second half of the season as defenses learned his tendencies.
He’s not ready to be a head coach
JoeyBigBlue : 1/17/2022 12:48 pm : link
He’s Ben McAdoo, a good coordinator that was hired way too soon.
I hope Jerry promotes him
ghost718 : 1/17/2022 12:59 pm : link
and he gets the 10 year Allie Sherman contract
if Dak slides sooner
bluepepper : 1/17/2022 2:39 pm : link
than what is gained by the play? You're taking a shot from the 30 instead of two shots from the 40. Is that worth the risk that an athlete under immense pressure and trying to be aggressive will not pick the exact right moment to slide?
Candidly
Bernie : 1/17/2022 8:12 pm : link
I'm not sure what exactly people see in him to be a Head Coach in the first place. He has been an offensive coordinator for 3 seasons and I have never looked at the Cowboys as this high flying juggernaut. Seems to me with all of the weapons and that offensive line, the offensive production should have been much better. But that's just my opinion.
