Is this a new data field on OTC?

On their team cap space page there’s a column I haven’t seen before:
Effective Cap Space. It shows anticipated cap space with full 51 top salaries. It appears to plug in rookie salaries based on current draft positions. Giants go from negative $300K or so, to “Effective”Cap of minus $19M for 2022. I like this tool.
They have to clear cap space to sign the rookies

It will be a rebuild year IMO. If they can trade Jones for a pick and clear his 8 mill salary it would be a start. Bradberry clears 12 mil, so that’s another strong possibility.
Bradberry

Not sure how much he fetches. Is a 3rd round outrageous for a one year rental? It sounds it to me...more likely a 4th or 5th rounder.
Why did Mara sign off on this

Spending spree? Even if we finished 500 or better we would still be screwed.

DG sold the farm to save his job. It failed and we are colossal failures in every way.

Is there someone on the roster to replace him? If not, who is available at less than $8 million on a 1 year deal, assuming you're looking to draft a qb in the next year or two?

Either Robinson, Love or Holmes (if healthy), but if they move on from Bradberry then I expect Giants would have to draft another CB with one of their first 5 picks.

I am not sure there is going to be much of a trade market for Bradberry with his $13.4M in base salary next year. Other than the Chargers and Bengals the teams with more than $20M in cap space are not 1 DB away from competing for the championship. Maybe the Chiefs would take a flyer on him if they thought he was the missing piece but they don't seem to invest heavily in DBs.

Cutting Bradberry ($12M), Martinez ($8.5M), Shepherd ($4.5M) and Rudolph ($5M) would free up about $30M in cap space. There are a handful of younger players that the team could trade/cut to get another $10 - $20M (Barkley, Peart, Love, Dixon, Gates, Xman, Booker). But every player the Giants cut/trade will have to be replaced by a draftee, UFDA or some other cheap FA. Fans should expect 2022 to be another tough year unless they strike gold in the draft.

The effective cap space is the 42 players on the roster today + draft slots + minimum salaries to get 51 players on the roster.

From the start of the league year to opening day the top 51 contracts are what count against the cap, and then moving forward all contracts count.
