back to their playing days at Michigan, so this is a legit source. I think Raiders are definitely the favorite though because he gets to be GM there as well as HC
Just hope they find a GM who can work with Harbaugh.
while there may be some inherent risk in hiring Harbaugh, think about the risks in hiring someone else.
We aren't choosing between 3-4 well known and well established HCs here. It's an absolute FACT that the only other HC option with pelts on his wall is Doug Pedersen. This is a stone cold fact. Next in line is Flores who while mildly promising hasn't exactly set the NFL world on fire. Then you have a slew of unproven coordinators. This isn't a murderers row of candidates.
NOT hiring Harbaugh comes with risk. He's the best candidate on paper.

I agree with this. When I look at him and Pederson I feel like I did back in 2004 when we brought in Coughlin.
I’m not saying either of those guys is as good as Coughlin, I just like the idea of bringing in a proven winner at this point. After gambling on McAdoo and Judge as first time head coaches, and also going with Shurmur who was never a winner as a HC in his prior stint with Cleveland I am not feeling comfortable with another first time head coach or some retread that’s never won anything.
Harbaugh can be a little annoying but hard to argue with his results.
Vic Fangio could be his defensive coordinator which would be a home run hire.
This is the grand slam option. And for the life of me I will never understand why fans care what owners pay for coaches or front office. It will never effect you as a fan of the team...
But I just don't see the Giants bringing in Harbaugh. I hope I'm wrong...
I have no idea why people are so against Harbaugh coming here. Because he's "weird"?
What evidence is there that Brian fucking Daboll can carry his own jock as a Head Coach? Personally I am sick of Peter Principle hirings. Pat Shurmur at OC is a great hire. But we hire him as HC. Judge is a great position coach but we hire him as HC.
It's time for the New York Giants to have a great coaching staff again.
Get Harbaugh in here, let him get a great DC in Fangio and maybe even Greg Roman too if BAL let's him go.
Instead of Brian Daboll and whatever resin he can scrape together to fill out his staff.
I could seem him succeeding over a three year period but then just burning out and making everyone miserable.
To me, it's a better version of Dan Reeves.
Sure it would get us back on track, but not long term and not worth the financial investment.
The financial investment means nothing to me. If the Mara's want to spend their money on Harbaugh, I'm fine with it. And it would only happen if the new GM pushed for it.
And I'm fine with a Dan Reeves scenario. Getting us back to respectability would look like a penthouse view at this point.

Exactly. It would be nice to have a semi-competitive team. We are generally out of contention by early October every year.
Why would anyone pick the giants over the raiders?
LVS
-No state income tax
-Playoff roster
-Cool new stadium
-Nice weather
And then there is us...
-state income tax
-awful roster
-cap strapped
-boring stadium
-cold weather
I'd pick the raiders job.
The Giants are a more historically more respected organization though. Plus Vegas may be nice to visit, but I’m not sure it’s a place I would want to live full time.
Plus I’m not sure we are really all that unattractive from a roster standpoint. The new GM and coach will get a lot of leash. Mara knows we need to blow things up. After this upcoming year the cap really opens up for the team. So focusing on the draft this offseason really makes sense since you aren’t expecting to really compete. Two top 10 picks, nice young left tackle in Thomas, some good pieces on D. It’s not that bad of a spot with competent leadership.

He wins and has proven to be able to turn around a franchise with a less than stellar QB. Sign me up. Second choice would be Flores, he turned Miami around pretty much. Daboll would not be my choice. He has no experience, this team needs someone who knows how to run a team. The other 2 have the experience.
For those that are worried about how much Harbaugh would make, who cares? Coaches dont have count on the cap. I really dont care how much they pay a coach. I honestly dont really care how much they pay good players either, the cap can be manipulated which is why I think we need a change. Other cash strapped teams figure out a way, Dallas is paying Dak a shitload more than we are paying DJ and we still cant field a competent team. Pay the right guys.
Coaches aren't under the cap and you'rs not paying his salary.
???
If the Giants have to open up the coffers to get this mess turned around, so be it. After sitting through this last decade of terrible football, why would anyone care? This has been a colossal f#ck up and they are losing season ticket holders.
That's the #1 reason I think Judge is gone IMO - this was a concern going back to before this season. People weren't renewing their season tickets. It got Mara's attention. This was before Judge fell apart this year and the fans were seemingly bought in.
IMO - he needs a power move to get the fans back in. And by that, I mean renewing their season tickets. I don't think Daboll's gonna move the needle much. JMO.
He couldn't get along with the GM in San Francisco that lead to his end with the 49'ers and they loved him as a coach out here.
I would love him as a coach but, Harbaugh maybe a handful.
Put me in that camp
I just cant see the Giants allowing such a mercurial personality into the country club

Baalke has proven himself to be a raging asshole, so maybe it wasn't Harbaugh.

We basically watched out last 3 hires have complete personal meltdowns trying to run the show.

That is was I forsee as well ... and if teh plan is to start and build some longevity he is a poor choice.

Just think about the shit Baalke put us through with that Davis trade that never happened!
