but the Raiders did make the playoffs this year in arguably the toughest division in football. And in a year that went sideways multiple times, he deserves some credit.
As soon as Gruden left he was on borrowed time. Gruden forced a lot of those bad picks to be honest and was the decider on all first rounders.
I’m not sure he’ll be back on TV for draft. NFLN has Jeremiah and Brooks doing lot of work and really promoted them last year or two and technically Mayocks buyout or severance of contract runs until June.

Then ESPN?
I don’t think so. Not this year. But I could see him back with NFLN in a more multilateral role for the season and next year. I don’t see him going back to call college games.
That's a ton of work and I'd imagine he'll want some time to decompress.
I’m sure he has already done some scouting plus he probably has all the information from the team scouts. He might not work on a network right away but he could be a guest host on the NFL network on draft day.
I have always liked and respected Mayock as a draft analyst plus he isn’t afraid to admit his mistakes unlike guys like Mel Kiper.
There is no chance he would accept a job as a scout. Thats long hours, low pay, and a lot of travel. He would make millions more if he went back to the NFL network or ESPN.

What about as a consultant? Something along the lines of "give us your reports for x position"and he's a check.
He weirdly did much better in late rounds than early rounds. Renfrow and Crosby being two great examples.
Hard to survive the Ruggs and Ferrell picks though.
I’d guess that Gruden had much more say on personnel than Mayock. He wasn’t making $10M/per to not be in charge
So was Gruden the problem?

Mike Mayock got talked into taking Clelin Ferrell by Gruden. I heard Mayock wanted Devin White

This is true. Gruden had the gavel.
Oops wrong thread.

So was Leatherwood this year.
Raiders are a real mess organizationally. They’ve lost tons of front office and back office business people.
I always appreciated his work on NFL network so I hope he goes back.
The just said on ESPN Davis asked to interview someone from the Patriots in the front office and Mayo for HC.
I would say Mayock took over on Day 2 and 3. But Gruden was making the calls on Day 1 and trying to act like the smartest guy in the room.
I listened to Mayock for years on NFLN. Some of those first rounders were too bizarre not to be Gruden.

Funny thing is - there are a bunch of you youngsters who weren't around for 28k...
I can see this .... Davis is a spineless idiot and Harbaugh is an alpha male who wants to be in charge of everything.
It will go south though in a few years - there will be a large explosion(implosion?).
