The problem is the Giants just keep picking the wrong coaches there are plenty of teams in the NFL right now that are winning with coaches that were not headquarters before they got the job.
The worry with Flores is he’s a defensive coach, which isn’t a negative but this offense needs to be fixed badly. Also, no idea if true but have seen all over that Flores really wants to get Watson and I don’t want to move the 5/7 pick to get Watson, even if the charges fully became dropped.
has the connection to Schoen because of Buffalo but if we're going to hire an OC with no experience I'd prefer a guy like Nathaniel Hackett. I'm sure a lot of people discount him because he has Rodgers but I think he's a terrific offensive mind and will be a very good HC.

Why? Rodgers is who he's always been and he didn't exactly light the world on fire in Jax. Meanwhile, what Daboll and Dorsey did with Allen is remarkable. Allen has always had all-world talent but he was a mess when he came into the league.

That Jags team talent wise was pure shit and while they sucked 2 of the 3 years he was there, he was the OC when they were 1 game away from the Super Bowl with Blake Bortles as starting QB.
Rodgers absolutely loves the guy too. I know that's his OC, but Rodgers isnt a guy to blow smoke up peoples ass just because that's his coach. He hasn't had problems ripping the Packers in the past.
I dont dislike Daboll and wont be upset if he's the coach, but I think Hackett deserves a lot more praise than he gets nationally. People dont give him any credit because he has Aaron Rodgers
is we'll actually have a coach who can scheme up a competent NFL offense. Say good bye to the QB sneak plays.
Daboll deserves a ton of credit because the Bills have catered their offensive scheme to fit Josh Allen perfectly.
Haven't watched a ton of Bills games, but judging by the aggressive shots downfield up 30 vs New England, I'm thinking Daboll is a pretty agGressive play caller (although why wouldn't you be if you had Josh Allen at QB).
At the very least, I'd hope Daboll would bring an exciting brand of football back to the Giants...and maybe, just maybe...he may even roll the dice and pass up an opportunity to punt on 4th and 2 or less inside the opponents 45 yard line

Going to need the horses to bring an exciting brand back. But we've watched so much shit offense for so long that anything even remotely entertaining will make us feel good. The bar couldnt possibly be set any lower.
I’m not exactly comforted with the notion we are going with yet another unproven unknown HC. But what can you do....
I get the sentiment, but other than Harbaugh, is there anyone out there with HC experience you'd be comfortable with?
No, not really. Pedersen maybe, but his last days in philly were weird to say the least.
I'll make peace with the young HC because what choice do I have. It is what it is at this point. The list of candidates fucking blow. We can only hope there's a future star in this list and we hire him.

Bills, Bengals, Packers, Titans, Rams...all got here after hiring unproven, first time HC.
I am well aware that every single great HC to ever grace the game was at one point, an unproven HC. I just have PTSD from the last 3 we hired.
IN a perfect world there's a ready made NFL HC star waiting to be hired and we do just that. Harbaugh is the only one that fits that description unless you love Pedersen.
Just get it right. Every time I think they are getting it right it blows up so wtf do I know.
Yeah, definitely. Not the fact that he had 2 winning seasons in Miami with a pretty bad roster. Grow up dude.
Some self-awareness should be in order.
If you're going to keep saying "let's wait and see" and then everything continues to turn out exactly as everyone was predicting all along, you might want to read more and write less.

The candidates only blow if your criteria doesn't fit what they are, but as you note, there is plenty of history of first-time head coaches who have become excellent mainstays of their organization.
There are guys out there who could be the next McVay, or the next Reid, or the next Belichick for all we know. The past decade has us fearful of the floor, but we still need to be mindful of the ceiling.
lots of predictions. I predicted the Giants would hire Garrett as head coach. I predicted Abrams was a slam dunk for the GM job which looks very unlikely now. Just two that come across to me this A.M.

I feel the same way but I'm trying to check that sentiment at the door. Tom Brady is older than all 3 of the other coaches remaining in the NFC playoff picture. We need the right coach, regardless of age or pedigree. It can be someone young and inexperienced. We're just conditioned to believe that's guaranteed failure due to our specific experiences as Giants fans.

Good one! I see what you did.....
Where has Roman been the head coach?
Are we confident Flores could fix this offense? That is my only concern with Flores.
I'm not dying to find out.

That seals Daboll as the preferred choice for me.
But let's see how it plays out.

How's Sean McVay doing with someone else the OC? Or Kyle Shanahan? Matt LaFleur? Zac Taylor?
All of those guys were someone else's lieutenant as OC, became HC somewhere else, retained control of the offense, and have generally been successful.
