The #Giants are scheduled to conduct a second interview with #49ers assistant general manager Adam Peters for their GM job Thursday, per source.
Peters is the third known finalist in New York, joining Buffalo’s Joe Schoen and Kansas City’s Ryan Poles.
is my choice too. Even thought Lynch is the GM, Peters is the brains behind the operation in SF and has been for a few yrs. Would be an absolute HOMERUN hire to get him.
And have to give credit to their list as a whole. I'd be happy with anyone that got a second interview so far.
While we're on the subject, they've done a good job of keeping quiet who was interviewing and when. Schoen was already in the building before it reported, Poles wasn't announced until later in the day and Peters wasn't reported until the day before either. No leaks giving the final 3 Monday night or anything like that.

Peters and Shanahan run the draft from what some 49ers fans told me. While Carthan focuses on free agency
Just looking at the drafts he’s been involved in and his role. Lots of gems in the middle and late rounds. No surprise that the 49ers are having success. I really like all 3 of these candidates just think Peters sticks out the most to me.
Counterpoint: plenty of Californians are leaving. Read an article they were out of U-Hauls.
He is California-proof because of the money he makes. I lived in LA for 11 years and left 9 years ago. People are leaving because they cant afford to buy a house, cant afford the high taxes/gas prices, and the covid protocols/ political climate
But with the money Peters makes, he doesnt have to leave
just scout. The thing that I find very intriguing about Schoen is that he really is an apprentice of Beane. Poles and Peters seem to me to be more in the Gettleman crew of scouting. Now, there is nothing wrong with that, but one of the things that I felt I was lacking under Gettleman was his ability to grasp the big picture. Schoen, only on resume and prior responsibilities, seems to me to be someone who really has all the right credentials on paper.
Part of building a great draft profile in San Fran. I'm not a huge fan of Schoens body of work and I don't want Dabol as a head coach so I'm hoping he gets it.
is staggeringly impressive. Solid hits in a variety of rounds and positions on both sides of the ball as well. Mark me down as an instant fan if his opinion drove a lot of those evals/decisions.
Peters was with Denver before that and started with Patriots.
Anybody take a look at the Broncos draft record when Peters was there?

This is true for some people (especially Socal). Northern California is a completely different story. Due to the nature of my job, I work with a lot of people (many of which are very wealthy) who lived in the bay area and have left in the past two years for non financial reasons.

Agreed. Just looking at his drafts make you drool. Not perfect, but mostly solid picks early on, and a lot of later round contributors.
2017: Soloman Thomas and Foster in the 1st two rounds, but Kittle in the 5th
2018: McGlinchey in the 1st, Warner in the 3rd
2019: Bosa and Deebo with the 1st two picks.
2020: Kinlaw and Aiyuk with the 1st two picks, Jennings in the 7th
2021: Mitchell in the 6th. Early to tell on Lance, but hearing good things on him.
The original interview list was excellent. They winnowed that down to the three I like best, FWIW. They chose the two asst GM's on the list and the BC grad.
Maybe we have made a sea-change. Pick one now, then let them do their job and we'll put a competitive team on the field again.
Patriots, Denver (the good years) and now with the Niners who have drafted well. Be interested to know who all these potential candidates would seek as the HC.

I like Schoen/Poles
But I love the way the 49ers find talent.
@MikeGarafolo
Adam Peters is headed to NJ today for an interview with the #Giants for their GM job.
Could be, but how do we know?
I'll be happy with any of them.

Is a Californian.
May not want to come East.

I thought that too but why go through all the effort to fly east if you don't really want the job?

That is a concern. I have a feeling the Yorks might make an aggressive move to keep him. Move Lynch is a higher title and give Peters the GM title.

Wasn’t he with the Patriots at one point?

Yep

@AlbertBreer
Something to keep in mind here: Adam Peters and Brian Flores came up through the Patriots scouting department together.

Poles and Peters get done today. So we could be looking at a selection possibly tomorrow.

We have 3 great candidates now.

they are referring to the SF OC not Josh
I think the above was a reference to Mike McDaniel the 49ers OC.
I assume he meant Mike McDaniel which would be a ballsy hire but he does give off serious McVay vibes
I think he meant Mike McDaniel not Josh McDaniels.
