Very early discussion on Fantasy Football Keepers

pjcas18 : 1/19/2022 11:37 am
yeah I know....but...

I don't need to decide this any time soon, still thinking about it and curious other people's opinions. Obviously there can be injuries, etc so again nothing is locked in.

My league we can keep any player drafted 4th round or later, the first time you keep them it costs draft round, second year it costs a 4th round pick and then you cannot keep them any longer.

This is a random draft selection (no reverse standings, no lottery, just random), PPR league.

Example:
2020 I drafted Jonathan Taylor in the 4th
2021 I kept Jonathan Taylor with a 4th
2022 I can keep Jonathan Taylor with a 4th
2023 I can no longer keep him

Here are my options:
Jonathan Taylor is real: 4th round pick

basically a no-brainer IMO

2nd keeper options:

Amon-ra St. Brown: 8th round
Jaylen Waddle: 9th round
DeVonta Smith: 8th round

So I can keep Taylor and one of the WR's or two WR's and re-draft Taylor.

I think Taylor in the 4th is too much to pass up and risk re-drafting.

At one point I was convinced it was Taylor and Waddle, now I'm pretty convinced it's Taylor and St. Brown. ARSB was money down the stretch even without Goff.

Any thoughts on this?

lol.

I hate his (Waddle's) QB situation and loved St. Brown's 2nd half.

Week 9 - 17 comparison:
Waddle:
56 catches 602 yards 3 TD's. 1 rushing yard with 1 rushing TD

St. Brown
81 catches 662 yards 5 TDs. 61 rushing yards with 1 rushing TD

Full season (receiving):
Waddle: 104 1015 6
St. Brown: 90 912 5

St. Brown didn't start until week 5 and only started 9 games. Waddle started every game.
Waddle's QB situation is terrific

He has a connection with Tua on the short stuff. It's not glamorous but it's easily repeatable and hard to defend. Only worry is new regime. What will they do?

But they have something that works and I would expect that to be a jumping off point for that offense.
I love St Brown
JB_in_DC : 1/19/2022 11:59 am : link
He was a league winner for me. But I still go Waddle. Plus its PPR. He'll be at least a couple rounds ahead of St Brown in ADP next year I expect.

I have him in my fantasy keeper league and plan on keeping him. I believe drafted him in the 8-10 range and the value is too good to pass up, especially in a PPR league
Waddle especially in PPR
kdog77 : 1/19/2022 12:33 pm : link
He is clearly the #1 WR in Miami and could be a Jarvis Landry type player with higher floor. The Lions are so inconsistent from year to year and with the questions about Goff long term prospects it is difficult to project his value next year.

ambr0se201 : 1/19/2022 12:50 pm : link
is probably the safest bet... but don't rule out Devonta Smith.

I know the Eagles are a run first offense and opportunity is limited, but I think that could change. If the Eagles make a QB change to pretty much anyone other than Hurts I think he has the potential to be a league winner.
Right now Waddle because

I think his QB situation is better but as long you have til after the offseason to decide, it could be ASB if they improve over Goff.

I’m in a similar boat trying to decide between two of Swift (4th), Pollard (10th), Akers (9th)

has st brown at 103 overall (ppr)

waddle is at 43 overall (ppr)

for whatever it's worth .

but that means waddle might be a 3rd round value for you in the 8th

and st brown would be at value in the 8th. which means you could probably get him in the 7th or 8th.
I think Waddle
JayBinQueens : 1/19/2022 2:29 pm : link
Is going to be a dionte Johnson light next year. For PPR he will be great value
All three are pretty decent choices pj

St Brown literally won me my fantasy league based on those last few monster weeks.

Probably give final nod to Waddle, but it's closer than some may think...

You know in weeks 9-17 Waddle had a bye and missed a game due to Covid, right?

In my league (ppr) these were Waddle's #s for weeks 9-17:
16,10,20,28,18,bye,covid,25,7

on Waddle, and for AJR with the RB situation, it'd be hard for me to pass up Akers with how good he's looked already, and what his pre-draft hype was this year (potentially a 1st-2nd rounder).

My scenario is all WR based, 1/2 PPR, 3 point bonus at 125 yards. Starting 3 WR..Need to pick one of the below:

Kupp for a 3rd
Chase for a 5th
Waddle for a 12th

I won my league on because of how strong St. Brown and Burrow were
Mike in NJ : 1/19/2022 2:43 pm : link
during the playoffs, however I would still lean Waddle.

I think the big wildcard is who the Dolphins bring in at coach. Depending on the scheme that the new staff brings in, Waddle's usage could look drastically different.

Week 9 was a bye for DET too, I was just using available splits.

ARSB #'s for weeks 9 - 17 (also PPR):
10, 5, 6, 25, 15, 24, 26, 35, 26

ARSB finished like a beast. I actually drafted St. Brown in the 14th round but dropped him when he wasn't getting snaps early.

Taylor and Waddle...
EricJ : 1/19/2022 4:41 pm : link
especially in a PPR league. Waddle is seeing a lot of targets

targets (and I picked 12/5 because it's really when St. Brown became a starter):

Waddle:
11, bye, Covid, 12, 7, 7

St. Brown:
12, 12, 11, 11, 11, 10

I'm not sure people really get who good St. Brown was down the stretch.

and yes, I'm trying to get people to talk me into St. Brown over Waddle, lol, so far no takers.

no wrong answer here IMO.

I think Chase has the most upside he's a "f-it, Ja'Marr's down there somewhere" type of WR.

But I still think that's a crowded offense with Tee Higgins, Mixon, Boyd, Uzomah, etc.

Waddle has the best value being able to add a 100 catch guy in the 12th round, but is 10 catches for 60 yards a good floor?

and Kupp is the best WR on the list IMO but you pay the most to get him (3rd round).

After seeing a couple of Akers' carries on Monday night, I added him to my list of targets for next year. He looked dynamic, and Michel is a free agent. I'd go him unless Dallas unexpectedly moves on from Zeke (Jerry's got 21 jerseys to sell though...)

Good options, I'd go Swift and Akers probably unless something is done with Elliott. But he makes too much to move IMO.

Didn't Detroit lose their good TE Hockenson late in the year? Maybe his absence really helped St. Brown with heavy production late and you have to account for that.

I am reaching here a bit as I like St. Brown's future a lot. It's very close to a tossup in my view...
