Assuming we draft a right tackle with one of our early picks, what does that mean for Peart? Does he just become a backup or is there a chance that he could be converted into a good starting guard? What traits is he missing to be a good guard?
he will be a swing tackle and i still believe he will be a good one.
Bad year last year, still young and developing, had COVID, etc. jst a lot working against him. I think this year, pressure is off, he isnt expected to start or contribute more than just a depth piece. id be shocked if one of 5 or 7 wasnt an OT so peart will be the swing tackle.
Coaches disliked his lack of penchances for physicality.
Peart needs to want to play. The coaches dont trust him right now. For him to not beat out Solder is very telling. Unless he changes his mindset he may not be in the league very long.
But I honestly don't think he has the mentality to play OL (last two OL coaches couldn't get him to beat out Soldier, who's awful, or get him to play mean). Nobody should be surprised if he's cut, outright by a new regime. Buf if not, sure, try him at OG. WTF? What's the worst that could happen? Even Flowers found a home at OG. Doesn't work, you can still cut him.
due to the torn ACL. There is a chance he misses the entire year so the Giants will proceed as if he isn't on the roster.
Peart has been disappointing especially after a promising start to his rookie season. I haven't completely given up on him developing into a dependable player but the Giants need to bring in a starting RT and OT depth.
I actually hope that the Giants draft three offensive linemen preferably an OT, a G, and a G/C. As of now the only locks to be on the roster next season are Andrew Thomas, Shane Lemieux, and Ben Bredeson. Thomas is the only one who is a proven starter while Bredeson will likely serve as depth at guard and center. Shane Lemieux will compete for one starting guard spot and hopefully he earns it because that would be a nice boost for the entire line if the left side is set.
Peart not being able to push Nate Solder down the depth chart
A shame if he doesn’t have the internal drive to succeed. However, maybe losing his spot and competing for another position and his next contract could light the fire. I’m asking the question because I’m just really tired of draft picks not panning out in any shape or form. It’s a trend that has really gotten stale.
I was hoping that maybe he and Hernandez could rotate/compete for the same position and maybe, just maybe that internal competition would produce someone who can positively contribute through an entire season.
RE: Peart not being able to push Nate Solder down the depth chart
Tough to change a man's inner workings unless he does it himself. He's probably too tall for OG, and if doesn't want it enough at OT, he probably won't want to mix it up inside either.
My vote is for swing tackle. Not to mention, as Eric said, the knee means we can't count on him in 2022 (Gates either).

Security Guard -- WELL PLAYED! Perfect!
Flowers was terrible but he did have the mentality, which is why he's okay at guard.
Lemieux wasn't all that good and he tore his patella
Gates had a crazy serious injury and 5 or 6 surgeries
Peart tore his ACL in Dec and sucked anyway
Price is a FA and sucked
The rest are jags anyway...
There needs to be more than 1 OL drafted and more than 1 FA signing to be made.
It's not that he isn't cutting it at ORT because he can't do the job physically, it's that he hasn't shown the mental make-up to be tough and grind things out. Until he figures that part out, I don't think moving positions is going to fix anything.
I Don't Think It's Too Early To Hang The 'Bust' Label On Peart

This'll happen on his 2nd team. Adulthood will hit him, and he'll find the drive to make a journeyman's career in the NFL. With NY getting just the shit beginning of his career.
I laughed. 👍🏿👍
Swing tackle is his best position next year.

If he shows up, can play, and makes the team, great.
But the team's plan must not depend on him playing.

Being an Offensive Lineman evaluated and drafted by the NY Giants is a second huge red flag...

I didnt know he tore his ACL. There is a good chance he never plays in the NFL again.

.imo
And he will be rehabbing his knee most of 2022.

If he is not cut before then.
Peart is hurt.
He's just one more
Gettleman burp.
Now we have a reportedly undermotivated player dealing with an ACL injury.
Security guard seems to be his next job.

You have the excess gas coming out of the wrong end of him.
