Giants offering cart blanche to candidates per Raanan

Given all of the discussions about this across seemingly every thread, I thought this was noteworthy.

@JordanRaanan
The most encouraging thing to take from this Giants GM search: From what I've heard, they are offering carte blanche to candidates to reshape the organization. The Giants way of operating is about to change drastically no matter who is hired.

about for three months. If this is true this is the biggest news yet. As has been said over and over you will only land the top GM candidates if they know there will be no interference from ownership when it comes to drafting and other personnel decisions. No one wants to be the face of something when someone else is really calling the shots.

That and although it has been insinuated a million times, I doubt anyone was hurt more by the last several years than Mara himself.

He basically had to sit out the retirement ceremonies for two of the greatest players ever to wear this uniform.

in the interview process. I don't think it takes Chris and Tim out of it but hopefully the new GM can compromise and make it worth. If they don't see progress then they will start meddling again but hopefully they give the new regime two years.

in absolutes, especially with no first hand knowledge and let's let this play out first.

I do believe they have decided to make some changes and now let's see how big those changes are.

Something else to consider- I think the Giants know Jones isn't playing for them this year- whether health wise or other and now is a great time to make sweeping changes.

I guess it's safe to say GEttleman did not have cart blanche here? Since all we talk about lately is Mara forcing this and forcing that and now we learn he's going to let the new guy run the joint...

So I guess Gettleman wasn't that bad after all. Just a victim?

Me too. Starting to think Mara might read BBI. This feels like a plant to a beat to get it out there. They do not like the Chris Mara talk, they want that shit to quiet down. Makes me want to talk about it more.

Didn't believe Judge was getting fired.
Didn't believe would be all outside candidates for GM.
Assumed the GM search process was going to be a sham.
And now they'll believe it when they see it. Because they obviously have such great insight and intuition on the subject.

are really bad and need a major overhaul. Clearly that was not the belief when Gettleman was hired.

On the bright side, Gettleman may now have his own legacy with the Giants. He was executive version of The Fumble. The thing that went so wrong nobody could ignore it.
