NFL fines Arians $50k for helmet slap -

Del Shofner : 1/19/2022 2:28 pm
I saw this play - Arians was trying to get one of his players away from trying to pull a guy out of a pileup so that there wasn't a penalty on him. It's not like it hurts someone with a football helmet on to slap the helmet with your hand. Probably violated the letter of some NFL rule but $50k seems excessive under the circumstances.

No way should he get fined for that
Andrew Adams should pay the fine

not because he did anything wrong - but just to flip the bird to the league for daring to involve itself in what's none of their business.

Sure he should.

First, he shouldn't be on the field in this instance.

Second, head slapping a player? He looked like a senile buffoon.
Ughhh

Much ado about nothing.
Honestly,i bet the FO just pays it
A fine seems unnecessary, but not unreasonable.

$50K seems pretty high though.

I was wondering when I was watching if anything was gonna come of that or they were gonna let it slide bc of what precipitated it. Probably one of those things they cant not whack him on.
yeah

had tens of millions of people watching a white guy smack a non-white guy on the helmet. A helmet that might have had "Stop Hate" or "Black Lives Matter" printed on its back. TV viewers will assume that it is "business as usual" for the NFL and all that stuff about racial justice is only lip-service.

The fine can't hope to repair the damage to the NFL's image because only a small percentage of those watching the game will know about the 50K fine. The only purpose of the high fine is to warn all the teams and hopefully to prevent it from happening again in other games.
Meanwhile nothing for the head-on-head collision that wasn't called

in one of the playoff games this past weekend.

The defender led with his head right in front of the ref and there was no call.

Ridiculous!

The players slap helmets harder in celebrations than Bruce did. I see kickers getting head bumps from linemen that would kill me........

The NFL constantly makes me shake my head.

Fine him $5k? Fans GoFundMe and pay his fine for him. Fine him $50k. Message sent, no assaulting players Don Zimmer.

Yeah, players psych each other up with head slaps etc.

Difference? Intention.

One is generally a mutually expected and accepted interaction between 2 willing participants.

Other? Is some anger management needing old authority figure who is using his position to assault an unexpecting employee who was actually just standing on the field at the time of the head slap. Arians slapped him on the head like a dog owner might whack his dog on the nose with a rolled up newspaper for crapping on the carpet.

If the only way you know how to communicate is with violence then yeah, I've got no problem with the NFL fining you $50k.

I would have had no problem with Adams kneeing him in the groin and then dropping an elbow on the back of Arian's head as he was doubled over either.

Are you in a business that requires beating the shit out of your competition and making a few million per year?

Wasn't a good look, for sure. But I doubt the player even noticed.

Are you capable of a valuable contribution, or is this your best effort?

First of all, as you say, vitually none of the public will be aware of the fine.
Second, with Andrew's back to the camera, I don't know if anyone knew he was black, and if they did, hopefully not many people jump to the conclusion that it was racially motivated.
Third, Aaron Donald yanked another players helmet off and shoved him in the face, all the while wearing a Stop Hate logo on his own helmet. No fine levied that I know of
