On Cee dee lamb and the Dallas OC

His comments about Michale Irvin would have had 10 catches by halftime reminded me of the 2007-2008 season NFC Championship game in Green Bay. Green Bay couldn't cover Plaxico Burress and Eli just kept getting him the ball.

Is he still bitter that he didn't get the cowboy game?
ZogZerg : 1/19/2022 4:03 pm : link
He is right though.
The OC for Dallas really fucked up the game.
Cee Dee Lamb was getting the ball less and less
Jimmy Googs : 1/19/2022 4:08 pm : link
as the season wore down. Realize some of those games were blowouts, but it was very noticeable nonetheless.

The Cowboys will have plenty of time get him back into the gameplans next year :-)

The drops probably were an issue. Coaches would generally rather get the sure play than having a 50/50 shot at an incomplete pass or a gain for twice the yardage.
Mike - that is fair comment as I do recall Lamb having

some highlighted drops for certain...
He's got a point
mfsd : 1/19/2022 4:21 pm : link
and it makes me think of Eli and Plax in Green Bay or Eli and Cruz in SF in our most recent championship games.

Eli saw he had single coverage on his top guys, and even though it was 2 pro bowl CBs in Al Harris and Carlos Rogers, Eli torched them
Aikman was preaching this
Section331 : 1/19/2022 4:29 pm : link
during the Phil-TB game. TB was playing off Devonte Smith all game, and Philly didn't go to him until the game was all but over. He's got a very valid point, some coaches fall in love with their scheme at the cost of taking what the D will give them.
The thing with Cee Dee Lamb
Section331 : 1/19/2022 4:30 pm : link
is that he didn't help himself, he had a bunch of drops.
Hey Troy,

Cowboys lost a playoff game -- again. And if you want to coach the damn team, call Jerry Jones.
this is what's fun

about watching Rodgers and Adams, he's going to feed him if the matchup is there.

What does this mean? Their current HC is a buffoon and I don't know how that effects Kellen Moore but its reasonable to assume that there's atleast some impact.

Aikman is correct.

That brings up a good point, was the problem that Moore wasn't calling Lamb's number, or that Dak just didn't go his way? Maybe Dak was miffed at some of the drops.
Not Sure Why There Is So Much Love For Kellen Moore

I said this in another thread about his chances of being a head coach. With all of the weapons Dallas has, their offensive production was awful. I know the 49ers have a good defense, but only scoring 7 points going into the 4th quarter is pathetic. Why people consider him a solid head coaching candidate is beyond me.
I get it with drops
UConn4523 : 1/19/2022 4:43 pm : link
but you have to get that out of your mind at some point. The difference between Lamb and Wilson is massive, especially in a game where 1 big play changes everything.
To me
BigBlueFootball44 : 1/19/2022 4:44 pm : link
this is part of what made Brady/Belichick so great. Double Gronk? Run it down your throat. Single Gronk? Throw it to Gronk. That's just an example, but the point is they would find the weakness and exploit it. Runs plays until they get stopped.
He seems to be having some kind of Cowboy

Undoubtedly. Tough week for some of the Cowboy faithful who were mentioning Super Bowl on a lot of media spots over the past couple months...

They want so badly to make Kellen Moore happen because he bears some vague resemblance to McVay or Kingsbury.
His overall point

is valid. Sometimes it’s just run to the Ford and turn around. The game can get lost in being overly complicated. Tom Brady loved when teams blitz him and there’s man coverage. He knows he can find someone at least part open.
At the very least,
81_Great_Dane : 1/19/2022 6:56 pm : link
you’d expect Dallas to target the guy. If they tried it and it didn’t work, ok, at least you tried. But it was like they had some weird game plan and got stuck in it for three quarters.
Perhaps, just perhaps

the Bucs tilted coverage toward Lamb? Remember BB's line in SB46 before the final drive - it is still a Cruz and Nicks game? So Eli could see this and hit Manningham.

Also, each play has 3, 4, 5(?) routes and it is up to the QB to find the open one.

To me the most interesting comment was by Romo - he said Brady told him he knows where he is throwing the ball before he gets to the line...
Lamb had three drops against the Giants. That's really bad, but not
Ira : 1/20/2022 5:58 am : link
at all typical. His drop numbers aren't great, but not terrible either. He should have got the ball more against the Niners.

Cowboy fans finally realize Dak is average at best. Once there OL became average and couldn’t open huge holes for Zeke Dak could not get the job done. Dak has many flaws and one is he can’t make throws outside the numbers. That is where Cooper and Lamb like the ball. Catching routes across the middle leaves them open to big hits especially with Dak’s penchant to throw behind receivers.
I thought Dallas's big
Lines of Scrimmage : 1/20/2022 6:52 am : link
problem was not being able to run the ball which then carried over to their passing game. Too many longer down and distances and then the OL had challenges with the Niners front.
Whoever
pjcas18 : 1/20/2022 7:50 am : link
did the Eagles game (and I thought that was Aikman since Romo did the Cowboys game) made the exact same comment about DeVonta Smith and the Eagles OC.

They had Smith one on one multiple times with a deep cushion and Aikman kept saying that's where you go with the ball take the 10-15 yards they're giving you. And with all those times of Smith 1 on 1 there was not even a target. They kept going to Watkins or Goedert or Reagor.

I think Aikman even used the line that Michael Irvin would have 10 catches by half time.

Poor recognition by Hurts, the Eagles OC and their whole sideline.
