The Sacramento Kings organization has a current mindset: They are not moving star guard De’Aaron Fox and want to center team around Fox and second-year guard Tyrese Haliburton, sources say.

Yeah. This was posted yesterday. Seems like Brunson is out #1 option rn.

basically nobody has met their asking price and teams need to up their offers
Extremely tough player to evaluate. Plus (but diminishing) athleticism. Unprecedented work rate. Counting stats that are elite. But efficiency is as bad as it gets, he's extremely difficult to play with and instincts on both ends are team killers.
why they have to start thinking about moving on from Thibs. He’s playing the starters too many minted again, not developing the young players enough ( in fact stunting the growth of a young guy like Toppin), all to squeeze out a few more wins in the regular season and then getting slapped down in the playoffs

Mcbride is doing it in the G league, its great he is doing it but he isnt going to play anywhere near that in the NBA..
2md this idea Thibs doesnt play young guys is laughable, Rj plays the 2md most minutes on the team, Mitch plays 30, Quick plays over 20 and finishes a lot of games, Grimes has been around 18-20 consistently..
Not playing a ton of minutes doesnt stunt a players growth, there is no proof that more minutes is a key to development, Knox played 30 his rookie year and didnt develop into anything..
Until Toppin improves his 3 point and his defense he is not going to play more minutes, it doesnt matter who the coach is..
but we do not know more than Thibs, if Thibs thought a guy deserved minutes he would find monutes for them, Fact is right now Toppin doesnt deserve a ton more minutes, would i like him at 15-18 sure i would but aint happening right now..

Agreed. He should be getting minutes with the Knicks. He's a good defender too. What's the downside of letting him learn on the job?

and i think he has a bright future here and maybe if he doesnt get covid he is starting right now and Kemba doesnt get back into the rotation, who knows..
But as it stands he is blocked, maybe after the deadline minutes open up for him

Nygiants Scal is on this all the time on his morning show with Isola on NBA radio. He uses Houston as an example of the danger of tanking with all kids and giving them limitless minutes. He stresses that when you do that you're not teaching young players discipline and the value of earning minutes in the NBA and that's why you see them acting like idiots because there are no consequences.
And what are we teaching our vets that go out and repeat the same
Boneheaded mistakes the last two years. I like Quickley but the fact that he still throws up half court shots is fuckin insane. This isn't a vet or rookie type of thing. Accountability should be applied to all. Nobody is saying give these young kids limitless minutes but learning experiences at the NBA level is better than just wasting a year by only playing in the G League. It's not black and white. There is grey. Every player is different and should be handled accordingly but there are a set of standards that need to apply to all if you want to gain that respect.

Yup you dont just give a rookie limitless minutes on a team with a bunch of young players because then all you get is a bunch of young players learning on the fly, taking bad shots and not learning how to play as a team...and you get a bunch of players who just learn how to lose..
Not every young player has star potential, so they have to learn their role and what they are going to do to help a team, you dont learn that on a crappy team playing a ton of minutes..
Sometimes a player learns that somehwere else, aometimes a team missing something with a player and they become a star somehwere else but that is extremely rare, usually you know right away if a guy has star potential

vets are always going to have a longer leash, it doesnt matter who the coach is, a vet will have a longer leash..
It is easy for me or you to say hey play this guy more and bench this guy, easy for us to say get rid of this guy or that guy..
We arent in a locker room, Coaches have egos to deal with and the cohrsion and trust of a locker room. You cant just go in and say ok everyone is on the same set of rules..not how it works..
Quickley has gotten more leash this year because he is passing more and he has been playing better defense, plain and simple

was completely unaware that the 81-82 Knicks were investigated (and the FBI concluded) that 3 players were throwing games to help their cocaine dealer win bets? wow lol.

this was in the news a while back. And yeah it's a crazy story. I don't know why it wasn't a bigger story when reports of it came out after the fact - and I wonder why the FBI never went after the players.

It was implied they didn't have the physical evidence or cooperation of witnesses. Butch Beard said he would get calls from random people saying his players were uptown buying/doing coke. The guy connected to this scandal apparently was winning very big late in the season on Knicks games.
Unrelated but Bianchi had a multiyear contract extension offered but he waited to sign it because he didn't want his soon to be ex-wife to get half... ended up with a 1 year extension instead, and then replaced.
- Checketts was such a good dude that he felt bad replacing MacLeod that he personally called around trying to find him another HC job (Notre Dame).
-Xavier McDaniel would get completely naked "arouse" himself in the lockerroom and then use his organ as a towel rack...

@DraftExpress
Shaedon Sharpe, formerly ESPN’s No. 1 prospect in the 2022 high school class, is eligible to enter the 2022 NBA draft, a source told ESPN. Sharpe, enrolled at Kentucky, is considered a potential top-five pick this upcoming June. Story:
this is wild too... Ewing had a clause in his contract that he could hit FA early if he wasn't a top 4 paid player (at the time it was Hot Rod Williams... yes Hot Rod Williams, Jordan, Hakeem and Ewing). Falk approached the Warriors about a scheme in which they would renegotiate Mullin's deal (Falk wasn't his agent) to move money so it would be paid earlier. This would have allowed Ewing to hit FA and sign with another team (presumably the Warriors). Mullin's agent alerted the Knicks (he was also Oakley's agent).
when it comes to NBA analysts IMO, but I'll probably end up reading his book just because it covers such an interesting era for the team (and I was watching every minute of every game back then). Although it will probably end up being pretty depressing given all the painful ends to seasons.
Just saw the latest voting numbers. I know the fans are dumb, etc. (Klay, Kyrie, Melo, Aldridge (???) being listed) but this does speak to the fact that Knicks fans are not coming out for Randle.

If it comes in house it would be Bryant, imo. I do know all their top targets are currently employed, but don’t have specific names

Stanley Roberts cost the Knicks Xavier McDaniel. McDaniel could only be signed using his bird rights if he were the final piece, the Knicks had a 3 way deal in place for Charles Smith but Roberts refused to go to the Clippers (for weeks) finally Donald Sterling of all people wined and dined Roberts and convinced him to go to LAC. In the interim McDaniel grew furious while waiting and Ewing famously "convinced" him to leave.
I ordered Herring's book. I'm looking forward to reading it. I heard him on JJ's pod yesterday; the '92-'93 Knicks-IMO-were better than the team that lost to Houston in the '94 Finals. Game 3 still pisses me off...we're up 2-0 & MJ couldn't buy a shot & yet the Bulls ended up smoking us, something like 103-81. I remember Ewing opening up the game with a monster dunk too, Haha.

i still think that 97 team was their best team with LJ, Oakley, Ewing, Starks, Houston
That '96-'97 team was damn good. Gun to head...I don't know if they beat that Bulls team in the ECF, but they would have given them a much better series than Miami did.

if this shit keeps up. This team still has a chance to make the playoffs. I will always appreciate him for last year, but now he's holding the young guys back AND not getting anything to show for it.

Rose and Noel out. I think the FO gives him some more rope.

My biggest gripe is how he doesnt see the team plays better going small, i dont care if toppin misses a rotation, Randle misses one veery other possession
Dude dumped Wall's contract, got a solid playoff year out Westbrook, then dumped that awful contract and actually got decent rotation guys back. Unreal
just stand there and dont do shit, meanwhile his first dub will be Gibson for Mitch..
Getting torched by the fricken Pelicans about to go 0-3 on a home stretch where you lost to the hornets and Twolves then come out flat against a bad team..
So this week has to be the most infuriating week of Knicks basketball I can remember in like a decade. Come of a great win vs Atlanta and come home to face 3 mediocre at best teams and lay 3 absolute stink bombs. Fucking infuriating.

It's coaching, not talent.

I don't know if its Thibs or someone else but we run the same sets over and over. Teams know what we are going to do before we do it. We are so easy to defend and the coaches aren't helping. 57 points after three....are you kidding me?
FTs are still excellent. Maybe too much energy going to defense taking his mind away from his strengths
he takes to many bad shots
Seems like they're taking him away from what makes him valuable
He is not a point guard, maybe 1 day, but he is best when he can just go score, Rose was so valuable to hik because when he starts going to fast Rose settles him
Every where he does. One of the more frustrating coaches to watch on a nightly basis, so fucking set in his ways and at times seems like he has no feel for the situation.
but i cant watch Randle control the ball at all times on this team anymore, i just cant, passing up wide open shots jist to dribble into 3 guys..
He tries to play off the ball and then gets a wide open look and instead he then dribbles around, like no take the shot..
Its jist amazing a week ago the Knicks were 8-3 in their last 11 playing well and just have completelt shit the bed..its maddening
Thibs is so fricken stubborn
He should bench Julius for a game. There needs to be consequences for this bad play. He had as many technical fouls as made field goals. Start a different lineup for once. Let Randle play 20 off the bench.
Tonight may have been our last chance this year to reach .500.
Kemba- I like him, i think he is getting a raw deal but i want a young point..
Randle needs to go, thank you for last year but you cant handle the pressure and its effecting the entire team, you need to go..
Burks- i like Burks he can be a valuable piece off the bench for a contender and win a game or 2 for someone in the playoffs but right now i want more grimes and reddish when he comes back..
Noel i dont even care if its just for a bag of skittles..
Keep Rose and gibson as mentors to the young players and help them with Thibs..
Keep Fournier for now he has played better as of late..
Go get Brunson to be your point guard of the future, build around him, Reddish, Rj, Mitch, Grimes
It infuriates me that a player like Quickley can do whatever the fuck he wants, like shooting from the halfcourt, without repercussion. Meanwhile Toppin gets nothing called for him, does all the little stuff, and gets pulled immediately when he misses the one shot he takes all game.
Again, not saying he's not next Kemp or Amare, but nobody on this team is being coached up or put in a better position to perform. Everybody just does whatever they have always done.
And it looks more and more Randle is just a different player with fans in the stands. Rose has to pull the plug at some point.
Looking at the box score and reading the game thread.
This team is in trouble.
Changes need to be made quickly and I am not opposed to Thibs being held to the fire.
By time Rose gets back it will be too late to make a run.
Burks to start at PG. The rhythm of RJ running the offense has been destroyed
I don't agree he played well his first game back and needs a minute to get back in the flow.
IMO Randle is becoming a problem and I mean not just his play.
At this point I am not sure how you right the ship to salvage the season.
Outside of a blockbuster trade for a star I am not sure Thibs has a good feel for the right lineup and it's obvious the Knicks are babying Randle.
like he has requested a trade and is waiting it out until it happens..
Wasnt there a story before the seasom that Thibs didnt make him a captain?
I wish he would at this point he obviously can't handle the pressure of being the #1 option and face of the franchise.
The boos are getting to him and the Knicks letting him off the hook in facing the media is a joke.
Sounds more and more like Joe Judge. He was talking after the game about how hard they played and how they need fix this together. Guy gets paid handsomely and has not done a good job this year at all. Instead of throwing his arms up after every call that goes against the Knicks maybe he should start drawing up plays that actually work.
is the action of someone who wants to be traded. (And also I think cowardly, but I've never been in that situation.)
This entire situation is spiraling. This is becoming a little Joe Judge / Giants-esque. All we're asking for is competence and competitiveness. Not getting either.
Kemba is terrible now. Nobody wants him for an asset.
The Knicks are better off tearing it down than trading for someone that will give them a push. Randle is proving to be a 1 year wonder. Barrett is perhaps the 3-4 option on a contending team. Obi may bring back a pick. Fournier is a meh type player.
But there’s nothing the Knicks have that will bring back a number 1 type guy. Tear it down. Accumulate picks. Because there’s not a true mega star that’s coming to NY via trade or FA this or next year.

Knicks have plenty of assets, they have something like 20 picks in the next 4 drafts..
Knicks have the assets to trade for a star, the problem right now is who that star is going to be..
On bad teams. Beal, Towns, Zion are probably the only 3 from bad teams that may want new homes. Zion is a massive question mark. Towns and Beal would cost more than what the Knicks have.
The Knicks problem is their first round pick will never be that appealing for a megastar. That pick needs to be at least top 5, if not top 3. And the Knicks with the roster constructed will be a 7-8 playoff seed or a very low lottery pick. That’s not attractive enough. The Dallas pick is gonna be the high 10s or low 20s. Not attractive enough.
The warriors did plenty of shopping for the 8th and I believe the 14th pick and got no returns. No contending teams are giving the Knicks anything worth while.
I call the Knicks a team in purgatory. Not good enough to win it all. Not bad enough to be a team who can win the lottery. The thing that sucked for them was they were a pick away from Curry years back. A pick away from MoranT three years ago. They have had some bad luck. Waiting on a star to come to NY will just prolong the process.

Time for total reboot.
Thats not exactly true, the Nets traded picks in the 20s for Harden..
and Knicks are not locked into anything all of their contracts except for fournier and Randle expire after next year..
Knicks are not locked into this roster they have plenty of flexibility..
It looks bad because Randle sucka right now but the Knicks are not stuck or locked in
you also never know when a star will become available
its simply a waiting game right now for the Knicks, and whether the star comes via free agency, trades or draft it doesnt matter..
I do agree knicks need to trade off some of the vets and let some of these young guys take over some of the minutes but tanking does nothing, it doesnt work..
Come close for Brunson. They are the 5th seed and he is their third best player. Plus with Kleber, porzingis and Powell - where’s Obi’s role? Finney Smith plays a lot on the 4 as well.
Mavs would get a lot more than Toppin at the trade line. They need to add talent for Luka not subtract it.

They arent paying Brunson plus he only makes 1.8 million, hard for them to get vets without adding more to the Brunson side..
offer up Burks around the League take a draft pick back..
Noel is ubtradeable because he is always hurt
Kemba is probably untradeable but i offer him up and then buy him out so he can look to go to a contender..
I keep Fournier but tell him he is coming off the bench..
Brunson, Rj,Reddish, Barnes, Mitch
bench Rose, Quick, Grimes, Taj
I’d be happy with this, only change is I would try to send out Grimes or Quickley for Brunson rather than Toppin. If they are trading Randle, Toppin actually will be able to see the court on a regular basis.

Is not even close to equal value. Come on. Brunsons value is skyrocketing by the game. Obi plays like 14 minutes off the bench.
If Dallas were smart. They’d be talking to Indiana (another team who needs to trade) and try to work and get Sabonis. Another team would have to get involved. But Dallas needs talent around Luka and trading Brunson needs to land more than an Obi Toppin.

Brunson is a free agent they have no leverage, and the mavs have zero draft picks to move..
They dont have anything to get Sabonis..
Obi doesnt equal Brunson obviously but they dont have a choice if they arent resigning him
Thibs needs to bring in an offensive coach to his staff.
Dallas isn’t trading away one of their top players while in the midst of a playoff run and pissing off Luka for a bench player. IMO, their better off risking holding onto to him and trading a hardaway or a mixture of Powell, bullock, kleber in the off season.
Remmeber - Dallas has a megastar. Megastars aren’t happy when you trade away one of the better players for scraps. Luka would never sign off on that deal.
Morey basically admitted a deal could be made with Kings
#1 we need a shakeup.
#2 if it’s only Barnes Bagley, Heild and Picks we could beat that if we have to (not sure I want to)
#3 back to #1. I’m moving someone soon just based on effort. Getting pissed off.

agreed on 1 and 3, team needs to go younger and get more athletic..
as for 2 i think with the Kings they are willing to take on Harris as well thats why Morey likes their offer
This week has really highlighted our need to get faster
And more athletic. We are slow and easy to guard. I mean we made 3 mediocre to lousy team D's look like the bad boy Pistons. They showed that all you have to do is run at and swarm us and we cough up the ball and chuck Up 3's like they're going out of style. Nobody is afraid of anyone on this team beating them off the dribble.
The scout said the deal starts with Grimes and the first but the Knicks would have to include another young player with upside aka, IQ, Obi or Robinson.

Id hate to do it because i like Grimes but for your PG of the future and probably next 10 years you do it

If they don't plan on paying up for Mitch in the offseason, I don't think including him with Grimes and a pick is too much. You would really be relying on Noel to stay healthy, but maybe it would also result in Toppin getting more time at the 5.

Disagree. Grimes is 4 years younger than Brunson. Brunson is already 25. He's not the point guard for the next decade. They can take less or they can watch him leave in FA.
And sign Brunson in the offseason if it comes to that. Fuck Dallas.
Exactly. Brunson is a FA after this season. Trading assets for him now is not helping this team win anything this season. He’s a rental. Just wait it out

You are still going to habe to give up assets to get him in the offseason, except in the kffseason you have to match 18 million

He's a UFA. We don't NEED to do a sign and trade. It would help, but we can trade away Fournier and sign him with cap space. Can't we?

That’s only if they don’t make any moves to shed salary before the deadline. Brunson isn’t the only move they can make.

16 is right in a sense. But we're also right. Ideally, both teams recognize that they both have unique assets that the other benefits from more than any other team.
We get Brunson now, we can go over the cap to sign him.
They can get a good young player in Obi who is a good trade chip, but most importantly they get their first back and can make a bigger move for a star using multiple future firsts.

But why would you give up assets to get rid of Fournier to sign Brunson then be at the cap..
When you can trade for him now go over the cap to sign him and have a bunch of exceptions to add more players?
RE: Knicks fined 25k for not allowing Randle to meet media
Re. Brunson...there's something to be said to get a dude before he hits FA. It definitely gives us a leg upon on keeping him, provided he likes his time here. On the flip side, you give up assets & there's no guarantee he sticks around.

Because Grimes fits this team like a glove. He and RJ are the same age. We don't need to capitulate to DAL just because they want Grimes. Fuck them.

Leon Rose's brother is his agent he isnt going anywhere if the Knicks get him
I'd give up cap space to keep Grimes for the future of this team. Grimes is 21. Much more valuable to have that kind of assert for the next ten years than Fournier and cap exceptions imo. Obviously you disagree.

I like Grimes have said he is a great fit on any team, i just like Reddish a little more but would love to have Brunson, Grimes and Reddish on Knicks but if i have to i would give grimes to get Brunson..
I like Grimes, nice player but the knicks have not had a decent PG since Marbury. And Brunson’s upside is tremendous — knows how to run a team, good shooter and a real worker on D.
Grimes is a 2 or a 3 like RJ, Fournier, IQ, Cam, and Burks
At PG they have two aging and injury prone players.
And to those saying just wait until Brunson is a UFA to sign him but would be really difficult with Bird rights.
but you have to remember to if reports are true Grimes was in the Reddish deal and they were getting close to a deal and then last minute was taken out..
I think they view Grimes as a good player who can be here for a long time but are willing to put him in trade scenarios if it makes the team better

The Sacramento Kings organization has a current mindset: They are not moving star guard De’Aaron Fox and want to center team around Fox and second-year guard Tyrese Haliburton, sources say.

Yeah. This was posted yesterday. Seems like Brunson is out #1 option rn.
i saw yesterday someone tweeted still out, he looked good in a video warming up the other day

no and i like Fox and he is the type of PG Thibs likes, but i am not giving up 3 young players and 3 1sts
I like Westbrook. Why don't you like him?
Quote:
Love it.
I like Westbrook. Why don't you like him?
Extremely tough player to evaluate. Plus (but diminishing) athleticism. Unprecedented work rate. Counting stats that are elite. But efficiency is as bad as it gets, he's extremely difficult to play with and instincts on both ends are team killers.
I wish he'd get a chance with the big team so long as Rose is out and Kemba is limited. Burks and IQ are decent rotation players but not point guards.

He values stats over winning and plus he’s a baby.
Until Toppin improves his 3 point and his defense he is not going to play more minutes, it doesnt matter who the coach is..

fizdale would play him for 5 games and then change is rotation and pretty aure fiz played 12 guys 1 game in the first quarter
Agreed. He should be getting minutes with the Knicks. He's a good defender too. What's the downside of letting him learn on the job?

why they have to start thinking about moving on from Thibs.

We arent in a locker room, Coaches have egos to deal with and the cohrsion and trust of a locker room. You cant just go in and say ok everyone is on the same set of rules..not how it works..
Quickley has gotten more leash this year because he is passing more and he has been playing better defense, plain and simple
Their plan all along is for Thibs to only be here 3 years max

Boneheaded mistakes the last two years. I like Quickley but the fact that he still throws up half court shots is fuckin insane. This isn't a vet or rookie type of thing. Accountability should be applied to all. Nobody is saying give these young kids limitless minutes but learning experiences at the NBA level is better than just wasting a year by only playing in the G League. It's not black and white. There is grey. Every player is different and should be handled accordingly but there are a set of standards that need to apply to all if you want to gain that respect.

So far so good, a lot of interesting factoids
this was in the news a while back.

-Xavier McDaniel would get completely naked "arouse" himself in the lockerroom and then use his organ as a towel rack...

i dont think Obi is the answer but i am all for trading randle
it shouldnt be hard to get Obi 20 minutes with Randle but Thibs refuses to go small

Yep. Taj gets 20-25 instead.
Taj should play when Obi doesn't have it.

Totally agree on whoever said they love Clyde using "Lilliputian." Brought a smile to my face.
lol down 10 at home that is 16-28
It’s not good right now. The 3 ball has really made team basketball non existent.
because he didnt want to hurt his already terrible average
Rose and Noel out. I think the FO gives him some more rope.
My biggest gripe is how he doesnt see the team plays better going small, i dont care if toppin misses a rotation, Randle misses one veery other possession
its his shot selection
Kemba was the other T. But yes he did.
Quote:

Yep just looked it up that Kemba got the first one. Sorry
yeah, well this is my problem with Thibs because obviously Thibs did.
I don't hate Randle, I hate the 'point forward' concept with Randle as the point forward. WTF is so bad about just being a good PF?
I totally agree. He's simply not a big minutes player. Great for 15 minutes a night.
Getting torched by the fricken Pelicans about to go 0-3 on a home stretch where you lost to the hornets and Twolves then come out flat against a bad team..
Get rid of him
Because that goes against Thibs rigid rotations
That was pathetic.
Randle has no balls.
Obi at 5 minutes.
It's coaching, not talent.
yup and were rolling playing well
Trade for Brunson
Dump Randle and Fournier. And send Thibs packing
Taj is screening giving him an open three at the top of the key every time
broken,
and needs to be traded

Alleviate some of the vets and chanfe the makeup of this team..
Thiab wont change his rotation, so rose needs to force him to by getting rid of some players..
There is no reason why the lineup in the 4th shouldnt be Mcbride, Grimes, Rj, Toppin and Mitch for the entire 4th

he takes to many bad shots
dont even bother

He is not a point guard, maybe 1 day, but he is best when he can just go score, Rose was so valuable to hik because when he starts going to fast Rose settles him
Makes no sense to me. Other than the fact the bench is playing better.
i would of brought him back for Quick after the 2 turnovers but cant now..
Bring him in for Burks?
not arguing but who do you take out to bring Rj back in?
but i guess its just follow the leader
wow
He tries to play off the ball and then gets a wide open look and instead he then dribbles around, like no take the shot..
Its jist amazing a week ago the Knicks were 8-3 in their last 11 playing well and just have completelt shit the bed..its maddening
Thibs is so fricken stubborn

He should bench Julius for a game. There needs to be consequences for this bad play. He had as many technical fouls as made field goals. Start a different lineup for once. Let Randle play 20 off the bench.
Bench Rose, Mcbride, Grimes, Taj..
Again, not saying he's not next Kemp or Amare, but nobody on this team is being coached up or put in a better position to perform. Everybody just does whatever they have always done.
And it looks more and more Randle is just a different player with fans in the stands. Rose has to pull the plug at some point.
This team is in trouble.
Changes need to be made quickly and I am not opposed to Thibs being held to the fire.
By time Rose gets back it will be too late to make a run.
Highlight of the Knicks season so far. She’s amazing.

I guess you could shop Randle for another 4.
I don't agree he played well his first game back and needs a minute to get back in the flow.
IMO Randle is becoming a problem and I mean not just his play.
I think its Randle more than Kemba, Kemba hurts the D i dont think he is hurting Rj offensjvely
Outside of a blockbuster trade for a star I am not sure Thibs has a good feel for the right lineup and it's obvious the Knicks are babying Randle.
Wasnt there a story before the seasom that Thibs didnt make him a captain?
Wasnt there a story before the seasom that Thibs didnt make him a captain?
I wish he would at this point he obviously can't handle the pressure of being the #1 option and face of the franchise.
The boos are getting to him and the Knicks letting him off the hook in facing the media is a joke.
This entire situation is spiraling. This is becoming a little Joe Judge / Giants-esque. All we're asking for is competence and competitiveness. Not getting either.

Kemba and DAL pick for Brunson?

It looks bad because Randle sucka right now but the Knicks are not stuck or locked in
I do agree knicks need to trade off some of the vets and let some of these young guys take over some of the minutes but tanking does nothing, it doesnt work..
Randle for Barnes and a 1st
offer up Burks around the League take a draft pick back..
Mavs would get a lot more than Toppin at the trade line. They need to add talent for Luka not subtract it.

They arent paying Brunson plus he only makes 1.8 million, hard for them to get vets without adding more to the Brunson side..

I’d be happy with this, only change is I would try to send out Grimes or Quickley for Brunson rather than Toppin. If they are trading Randle, Toppin actually will be able to see the court on a regular basis.

they might want Grimes or Quick instead, in that case i send out Quick
If Dallas were smart. They’d be talking to Indiana (another team who needs to trade) and try to work and get Sabonis. Another team would have to get involved. But Dallas needs talent around Luka and trading Brunson needs to land more than an Obi Toppin.

Brunson is a free agent they have no leverage, and the mavs have zero draft picks to move..
They dont have anything to get Sabonis..
Obi doesnt equal Brunson obviously but they dont have a choice if they arent resigning him
Remmeber - Dallas has a megastar. Megastars aren’t happy when you trade away one of the better players for scraps. Luka would never sign off on that deal.
Also said it would most likely be multiple teams
#2 if it’s only Barnes Bagley, Heild and Picks we could beat that if we have to (not sure I want to)
#3 back to #1. I’m moving someone soon just based on effort. Getting pissed off.

agreed on 1 and 3, team needs to go younger and get more athletic..
as for 2 i think with the Kings they are willing to take on Harris as well thats why Morey likes their offer
I am not even talking huge trades, he needs to get rid of some of the vets and randle, randle needs to go..
Easy for me to say but i send him home until the deadline
Id hate to do it because i like Grimes but for your PG of the future and probably next 10 years you do it
I'd give up Grimes.
If they don't plan on paying up for Mitch in the offseason, I don't think including him with Grimes and a pick is too much. You would really be relying on Noel to stay healthy, but maybe it would also result in Toppin getting more time at the 5.

The scout said the deal starts with Grimes and the first but the Knicks would have to include another young player with upside aka, IQ, Obi or Robinson.

Disagree. Grimes is 4 years younger than Brunson. Brunson is already 25. He's not the point guard for the next decade. They can take less or they can watch him leave in FA.
Exactly. Brunson is a FA after this season. Trading assets for him now is not helping this team win anything this season. He’s a rental. Just wait it out

And sign Brunson in the offseason if it comes to that. Fuck Dallas.

Him not facing the media is so weak on his part.

Because Grimes fits this team like a glove. He and RJ are the same age. We don't need to capitulate to DAL just because they want Grimes. Fuck them.
Leon Rose's brother is his agent he isnt going anywhere if the Knicks get him
Let Grimes see the court more.
I am all over the map on RJ. He is so damn inconsistent.
Thibs' stubbornness is infuriating as hell.
in my mind Brunson, Rj, Reddish and Mitch would be the future starters and need a stretch 4 to join them

Reddish is a lotto ticket compared to Grimes
I'm penciling Grimes at the 2, RJ at the 3. Reddish is a question mark right now.
Trading a 10 year asset like Grimes is absurd for an expiring contract of a guy who is not an all-star.
DAL has no leverage. We're not a contender either way.

I am very bullish on Reddish, loved him coming out of that draft..
I think your underrating Brunson a little bit

We're getting Brunson either way
I like Grimes have said he is a great fit on any team, i just like Reddish a little more but would love to have Brunson, Grimes and Reddish on Knicks but if i have to i would give grimes to get Brunson..
I am not shitting on Grimes at all
Grimes is a 2 or a 3 like RJ, Fournier, IQ, Cam, and Burks
At PG they have two aging and injury prone players.
And to those saying just wait until Brunson is a UFA to sign him but would be really difficult with Bird rights.
I think they view Grimes as a good player who can be here for a long time but are willing to put him in trade scenarios if it makes the team better
Yes not like the bench could use some help, god forbid give the 22 year old minutes over Burks who has been awful
Hes exactly the type of player the knicks will desperately seek when they become contenders: cheap and cost controlled shooting and defense.
Would you rather have Grimes and Brunson with Fournier or the cap options.
Or would you rather have Brunson and Fournier and give up Grimes.
