McDaniel could only be signed using his bird rights if he were the final piece, the Knicks had a 3 way deal in place for Charles Smith but Roberts refused to go to the Clippers (for weeks) finally Donald Sterling of all people wined and dined Roberts and convinced him to go to LAC. In the interim McDaniel grew furious while waiting and Ewing famously "convinced" him to leave.

i still think that 97 team was their best team with LJ, Oakley, Ewing, Starks, Houston
That '96-'97 team was damn good. Gun to head...I don't know if they beat that Bulls team in the ECF, but they would have given them a much better series than Miami did.

why they have to start thinking about moving on from Thibs. He’s playing the starters too many minted again, not developing the young players enough ( in fact stunting the growth of a young guy like Toppin), all to squeeze out a few more wins in the regular season and then getting slapped down in the playoffs
Their plan all along is for Thibs to only be here 3 years max

If it comes in house it would be Bryant, imo. I do know all their top targets are currently employed, but don’t have specific names

My biggest gripe is how he doesnt see the team plays better going small, i dont care if toppin misses a rotation, Randle misses one veery other possession
