Don't know if this is scorched earth territory but I like Shurmur as OC. Especially pairing him with someone like Dan Quinn. If they draft a new QB to groom, would you entertain the thought of bringing him back?
He will have other options and would probably not be willing to return to work for the Giants. I know I wouldn't if I were in his position. Not even worth thinking about.
Yeah, the team that fired you. Remember the low point of your career? Sure, team whose most recent coach talked some not-so-subtle-shit about ya recently, one in the same. So listen, watcha doing next fall? Cuz we're thinking reuuuuunnnionnnn!
and could have really helped the O by being the playcaller, a reason why he was hired here in the first place (see, Keenum, Case) imo, but opted to delegate PC elsewhere. We saw what happened.
Would we want him? Oh he brings what to the show? His brand in NY is what?
How do we come up with this shit day after day. Find so winners and stop chasing previous nightmares
"On December 26, 2021 in week 16 of the 2021 NFL season game against the Las Vegas Raiders, Shurmur's offensive game plan made Broncos history as it yielded 40 offensive plays, eight first downs, and 158 yards of total offense. which is the second-fewest in a game in which the Broncos had a true quarterback playing in the last 29 years.
The run offense managed just 18 yards on 16 carries, which is tied for the third-fewest in franchise history."
and didn't seem very comfortable here, being under the microscope, answering the questions and second guessing seemed to be torture for him. It's also apparent this played a role in trading OB. Me thinks this is not the place for him.
returned to their previous employer as a coordinator?
Genuinely asking..
I have the same question on Joe Judge.
For instance, imagine if Flores is hired as HC. Say he wants Judge as Special Teams / Assistant Head Coach... That would be some sort of history, wouldn't it?
I actually wonder if having had previous NY Giants head coach as part of the staff again, with their history in the building and with the players involved, can actually be a very beneficial thing for a new coach coming in.
That shipped sailed. Doubt he would never come back.
but if a new HC wanted to bring PS on board, why not? He's a good offensive coach who has shown real skill in developing QB's. Especially if we draft a QB this year, we could do a lot worse.
stay on as DC than to see Shurmur return as an OC. Also remember JJ pretty much called out the state of things when he arrived following Shurmur. It won't happen.
I have NONE -- 0 -- No interest what so ever in Pat Shurmur and his DINK DUNK No running the football 2yd passing offense. It doesnt work in the NFC East especially in the winter cold and snow.
I never liked Shurmur or his philosophy in play calling. Hell when he was the HC calling plays, he would run the Football and it was successful he immediately got away from the run. It was mind boggling on how when something proven to work in the game and he would just STOP DOING IT , I would get so pissed off because when running the football is working then for no reason stop doing it, that type of thinking lost us games.

Huh? He was the playcaller. Mike Shula was the OC, but Shurmur retained playcalling duties.
Genuinely asking..
Didn't Dave Campo come back to the Cowboys as an assistant? that was weird.
Genuinely asking..
Bill Arnsparger went back to Miami immediately after the Giants fired him. And didn't Mike Shanahan return to SF after Al Davis fired him??
There are some instances sure. I just think the recent history is so poor that any kind of retread is a non-starter.
You do any more thinking on Neal vs Cross?

Shurmur turned Case Keenum into a really good QB for a year. Where are each of them now?
Don't buy Fool's Gold.

I wouldn't want Shurmur back here as an OC.
Did he come back as bench coach?
Genuinely asking..
Wade Phillips in Dallas
No thanks to Shurmur

NO THANK YOU Keep him out of GIANT BLUE

Also fans: what about our old HC for OC?
