Brugler has New York using a second-round pick, No. 36 overall, on Cincinnati quarterback Desmond Ridder. That would seem to indicate the Giants would hold on to Jones for at least one more year while Ridder learns the ropes. Ridder is coming off a season which saw him lead Cincinnati to a school-record 13 wins and a berth in the College Football Playoffs, with the Bearcats losing to Alabama in the semifinals. Here’s a scouting report on Ridder, who’s scheduled to play in the Senior Bowl, from ESPN: Ridder is one of the most polished throwers in the country, with a résumé to back it up. He is a lanky dual-threat prospect who can win from the pocket, but he also is a dependable option in the running game. He’s a long-strider who can pick up yards in a hurry, taking off only when it’s designed or when plays break down. When escaping outside of the pocket, he’s great about keeping his eyes up in search of reappearing targets to dump off passes. “From a mechanics standpoint, he’s picture perfect,” (said) a scout for an AFC team. “[He] plays with a good base, nice over-the-top delivery and follow-through. He’ll have some awesome throws and then follow that up with sailing a pass over the head of the running back. His ball placement is inconsistent and deep passes flutter a bit. If he plays well in the playoff and down in Mobile [at the Senior Bowl], I think he’ll rise because he’s super sharp.” |
I think it is 50-50 Strong will be there.
He's starting to get a bit of buzz owing to his unique arm strength. Could see him go somewhere #16 to #32.

He'd be my choice if they want a QB in the early rounds

I don't think arm strength alone will do it unless he can show he is not a statue in the pocket and it was just Nevada's scheme that he did not move around more
If they use their only 2nd round pick on a QB then I would expect to hear bad news about Daniel Jones's neck.

This guy sounds like the kind of QB that easily went #1 overall years ago and scouts are probably conflicted.
This is kind of how I see it too. I'm not opposed to taking Ridder with a 2nd if we have two of them.
Ridder in ‘21 - ( New Window )
He also won a ton of games - a ridiculous 44-6 record as a starter.
There's a lot to like with this guy.
