Bat Out of Hell is one of my favorite albums. 1977, freshman in high school, brings back a lot of memories. Saw The Loaf a few times in concert. If it wasn’t for the F- word he would have nothing to say.
when he was in high school, Meat Loaf and two buddies were cruising downtown Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963. Meat Loaf was driving and was pulled over by a secret service agent who commandeered the car to get to Parkland Hospital where JFK had been taken. He and his friends got a front row seat to history.
As a kid I thought the album cover was just too cool. It's one of the reasons I fell in love with vinyl, going through mom and dads old records in the late 80s and early 90s. Still love the feel of opening a nice heavy gatefold. Incredible voice and by all accounts a really nice guy.
Thanks for the memories Meatloaf.
RIP you ridiculously unique artist.
Broadway performer
Cult classic “Rocky Horror Picture Show”
Explodes with “Bat out of Hell”
Resurrects in Mainstream 16 years later with “Bat out of hell 2”
Another classic with roll in “Fight Club”
Another little fact I just read and didn’t know, he tried comedy and was in a sketch comedy group with Hugh Laurie which explains why I saw him in an episode of “House MD”
A true against the grain renaissance man, wether I was fan or not, impressive artist.
Bat Out of Hell came out when I was 16 and blew us away. Many of us did not know how to react to it. Was it Rock and Roll? Was it a Queen rip off? What was it? Basically, we said, "Fuck it, it'd good". Loved that Phil was used in Paradise. Bat Out of Hell may be one of the top ten selling records in history as noted above, but in my view it's one of the top ten albums in history for it's music. He and Steinhman were an incredible force. He will be missed.
Have a memory of his daughter showing up at a house party we randomly found ourselves at once in HS, she was funny and friendly with everyone.

Bat Out of Hell came out. I loved the title track, but was never a fan of anything else. The show was pretty good, though. He was an entertainer. RIP Eddie (Meatloaf again??).
of the greatest rockers ever. "Bat out of Hell" is a fantastic album. "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" is just a great rock anthem. RIP. God bless. Prayers to his family and friends.

The picture of Meat and Steinman in the NYT today was taken in the living room of the apt I grew up in - I still have the lounge the lamp and the art.
He and my dad had a friendship and working relationship and whenever I saw him it was like seeing a relative... one of the ones you like... He loved my mom and would always ask after her when I saw him in concert. He would dial my phone in error after my dad died saying he was missing him. Last time I saw him, and his family was at Dad's funeral.
Unfortunately, he was a Cowboy fan and loved the Yankees
well two of them and Steve Van Zant helped the record get made. I loved the entire Bat Out Of Hell album the minute I heard it and I think I love it more now although I never liked anything else they (Meat and Jim) put out after it.
It came out during Springsteen's lawsuit that lasted from 75-78 and it was the perfect time for it. It has aged well.

Thanks for posting, sorry for the loss of your good friend.
I met him at Slippery Rock University when he was on tour in 1990
On Bat of of Hell, I wasn't aware of Little Steven. Todd Rundgren produced and played guitar. Roy Bittan and Mighty Max from the E Street Band played extensively. Listened to this constantly in high school.

In case you actually care, lol - if you look at the lyrics, There is a line of 1 thing he won't due in each verse right before each chorus, so its things like "I'll never lie to you and thats a fact", "I'll never forgive myself if we dont go all the way" and "Ill never do it better than I do with you". Those are the things he's saying he wont do in the chorus. I only know because I heard an interview with him discussing it.
The album, Bat Out of Hell, brings back fantastic memories! You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth and All Revved Up with No Place to Go are great rock songs.
Bat Out of Hell came out when I was in 8th grade, made an instant impression. Have all of his albums/CD's, really appreciate his voice coupled with Jim S's lyrics. Some of their not-so-popular songs are amazing, very non-standard with varying song structure and length so you never heard those on the radio.
Saw many concerts. Met him and got a signed copy of his book. It is a great read, many stories how he came up through the California and NYC music scene, how his managers took advantage of him and left him penniless.
He lived a very full life, but will still be missed.

Funny thing was he became a vegetarian, but kept his name Meatloaf. I guess that didn't go over so well in the "vege" community.
