If Flores went elsewhere today it’s because he doesn’t want to be the Giants HC. All he has to do is wait a day or two for the Giants to start lining up interviews. You don’t need to be a genius or a meddling owner to figure that out. If Schoen likes him as a candidate, he would contact him very soon. So the call from Mara seems like it serves little purpose other than to signal to Flores that he’s Mara’s choice.

I'm sure HC candidates were discussed in interviews. Mara's just letting Flores know they're interested so he doesn't take the first offer he sees.

I get your point. But if Flores and Quinn are hot candidates, it seems that they are? And both were on the lists for Peters/Schoen, would it not be prudent for Mara to reach out (before the official announcement of Schoen) to give a heads up about wanting to interview each of them given interest by potential GM's before they were snatched up by another team?

Right if the salary cap was fake like people claim why don’t we make moves like the Rams and Saints? It’s because not every contract is as flexible.
But Mara already interviewed a HC without the new GM being present.
Mara has rushed things before and really screwed up the franchise for years because of it.

If they want to get rid of Golladay, Barkley, Bradberry, Martinez, Jones or even some of these higher draft picks based not just on the football end of it, but for financial management purposes as well in some form or fashion, it's ok.

Which HC did he interview? I've only seen the one request for Quinn and now the call to Flores? Did the interview for Quinn already take place?
I agree he needs to get out of the way, but right now all I've seen is calls, and if Quinn and Flores are going to be hot commodities this off-season then I have no issue with Mara relaying any interest Schoen or Peters had in them to request an interview before an official announcement of new GM.
But again, I hope Quinn was on the radar of the new GM. If not, this is a bad look.

How about basing an opinion on a set of facts, not conspiracy theories.
What do you need to see to realize these people are very bad at running the team on the field? Why would them getting involved picking the HC again not alarm you? Especially after we're being told the GM is going to have carte blanche to run the football operation?
Hasn't Schoen been touted as the front runner all along? Never mind that take would make the GM search a sham, it also means Schoen has been pitching his vision. Maybe Flores is a possibility in that vision.

Mara called a coaching candidate. That is not a conspiracy theory, it is a fact report by the media. What conspiracy did I put forth and who did I indicate was involved in this conspiracy?

Or the call could have been at Schoen's request. Since he hadn't yet been hired, he may have wanted John to let Flores know that Schoen would consider him.
