For what it’s worth, one of my college buddies is a die hard Bills fan, I’m talking drives 6 hours a few times a year to go to games. And he thinks Frazier would be a better HC than Daboll.
I want Flores. But I think I’d rather have Frazier than Daboll. Daboll seems like a lot of the young OCs in the league which we could replicate. Frazier is a veteran defensive mind with legit leadership experience.
the list of Head Coaching candidates leaves a lot to be desired.
Forgot who posted it but someone said something akin to "BBI doesn't want a retread Head Coach but also doesn't want a coach without prior Head Coaching experience."
And unfortunately it is pretty spot on.
The only thing I keep defaulting to is someone/anyone that you can have confidence to help fix the Offense. Watching Giant games where they can't score even in double-digits has become near unbearable...
Hopefully they will speak with several coaches. These two are the easiest to speak with first and potentially could be unavailable until mid February after Sunday. We knew they would be on the list and Schoen isn’t sitting on his hands.
The Frazier interview does satisfy the Rooney rule
But more importantly it’s probably Schoen doing a solid for Frazier who seems like a great guy and whose success in Buffalo helped contribute to Schoen being able to land GM of NYG gig.
If nothing else Frazier being in on the interview circuit can potentially make him look more attractive elsewhere even if not here.

A guy who is a non first-timer but also not quite a true retread is Flores. That’s exactly why I think they should be interested him.

Let's see if the three guys mentioned -- Flores, Daboll, and Frazier are the "list."

They also supposedly reached out to Quinn

Sounds logical
RE: I mean Flores didn’t actually meet with us live,
..as Flores is not currently coaching, for anyone, they can interview him on Sunday. Daboll & Frazier have to get on a plane tomorrow afternoon for KC and if they win, will not be available again until after the Super Bowl (per league rules).

Unckear if Schoen will be in the same room as the candidates but would expect Giants ownership to connect via zoom. Crucial to get a first interview done with playoff assistants before their divisional round games b/c they could then be off-limits until post Super Bowl otherwise

I guess it makes sense. It seems like a weird time for job interviews, but I suppose most of the Bills' prep for KC is already done.
sense. Schoen knows these guys as well as anyone, their roles vs the HC, their strengths and weaknesses. This is about gauging their interest level, approach and what their thinking is about the Giants. If he’s impressed, he’ll need to wait until the Bills lose to go to the next step. If not, he’ll be free to interview the others and act on his timetable, not the leagues.
He is one of the best player development success stories in recent NFL history. It's probably justified.
The real trick is going to be seeing who is getting the kudos for it. Because Daboll is going to be the first guy to get a head coaching job from it and I'm not convinced that he's the reason Allen improved so much.
It Will Be Interesting To See If The HC Hiring Process
resembles the GM process (round of Zoom interviews, followed by in person) or if it's the exact opposite. Schoen wants Daboll and the proximity of Frazier lets the Giants meet the Rooney Rule. If they interview Frazier first, they could offer Daboll the job at the end of his interview in theory.
IF it goes as above and IF the Bills win, does the hiring of Daboll stay under wraps until the Bills season is over?

I highly doubt they make a hire without talking to other candidates. Specifically Flores and Quinn whom they already said they want to interview. Schoen said they will cast a wide net in this search. 2 interviews isn’t that…
Flores has coached a mediocre team to winning records each of the past 2 years (and overachieved in year 1).
Pederson won a Super Bowl (with Nick freaking Foles).
Harbough (.670 winning%) and Quinn coached in super bowls they easily could have won.
assuming Schoen does cast a wide net (as he says) this is the most qualified head coaching market I can ever remember.
as far as Daboll and Frazier go they both have certain appeals but unless Daboll absolutely lights it up (which he could) I think it's more likely one of the more proven guys gets the job.

Schoen will probably be leaving for NY after the interviews conclude.
Please explain
How about as a DC?
Aside from being an excellent DC, he’d be an experienced, stabilizing leader of the team.

Very good DC, but a mediocre HC.

They said that about Shurmur after McAdoo, so I simply don’t know what to believe these days
Finally, for the first time in years, I hope you’re right..:)

If by turn around you mean physically turn him around to face the door he just walked in through, then yes I have hope.

What do you mean, 21-32 sounds promising, 7-10 seasons would definitely be a step in the right direction!
I kid

Fair points for sure Eric.
+1
If Shurmur is milquetoast, so is this guy.
I’d be severely underwhelmed to say the least.
