WBG84 @WBG84 According to @NYPost_Schwartz Giants general manager Joe Schoen has the authority to overhaul whatever he sees fit. Schwartz adds that means the Giants will be ramping up their analytics usage and deployment. #TogetherBlue |

There are a lot of morons on this site that overreact to stuff like this.
A lot of the same people who told us Abrams would be promoted all year too.
Sean of Schoen
But in all seriousness, gotta love the way Sean has birddogged developments throughout the late season and off-season.
Pretty sure it was Sean who first spotted and then followed the Hanlon tweet and ensuing NFL_Scout/Valderosa (?) fisticuffs, and then Mustang Sally burner, as appetizers.
What a wild trip it's been, and will be over the next 24 months. Thanks, Sean.

The total team meltdown might of changed that

I still believe that was Mara original plan and preference
Absolutely, definitely the latter two, Sammo85, as they in their current positions are DG appointees, though I think I could live with an Abrams if properly managed. We still don't know if he had much if any leeway once genius Gettleman made his brutal, brutal decisions in FA. And it may just be Abrams to whom Maras have most loyalty. But full authority is full authority. Let the chips fall where they may.
I doubt Schoen keeps the personnel department as it is. They’ve had bad results and are not familiar to him. But changing a personnel department right before the offseason starts is difficult. I expect to see the new faces after the draft.
Translation: Daniel Jones is a 2022 late camp cut.

Yeah, I don't get why this keeps getting brought up. That seemed the likely succession plan until Joe Judge committed head coach suicide the last three weeks.
I think the majority of the board dreaded the thought but expected Mara to be Mara and pass the Giants Way baton.
Did you miss this from the article: “Schoen cannot come in and start firing members of the personnel department.”
Who reports to Schoen, his power to hire and fire, the status of Chris Mara, etc.

Then first order of business is firing Abrams, Koncz, and Pettit.

I think there will be at least one major dismissal, like when Getts fires Ross. I bet Pettit or Koncz are gone. Abrams and Sternfield will probably be protected

Different translation: Daniel Jones will most likely be traded if the neck injury checks out and he's OK
Keep an eye there. Will be telling.

Sure he can. It may not be what he does but he needs to make changes whether it’s February or May I don’t care. Those three have to be fired. They were abominably bad in their jobs and need to be held accountable.
Also, that’s Schwartz opinion and the old orthodoxy. And it’s happening more and more. Gettleman fired quite a few people in the first week he was here. 49ers dismissed almost entire front office right away when Shanahan took over. Ditto Joe Douglas with Jets. More often teams dismiss personnel from being involved but keep them around on paper because of contracts and NDAs until May or June after the draft to avoid leaks.

I think what this sentence/paragraph meant is Schoen is going to need to keep people around so he can transition to how he wants his department to run and with the people he wants to run it.
* I will believe when I see it
* Chris Mara still has his title
* Mara's don't get the benefit of the doubt here
All valid comments of course, but also a bit flat at this point...

Looking back, the best thing Gettlemen did was getting rid of Ross. That guy torpedoed JR IMO.
Honestly that is really myopic and silly
Why wouldn’t the GM want to pick the brain of someone with inside knowledge of the personell and what went wrong? I would be suspicious if he didn’t.
Also never hurts to treat ppl right and show class. HC interviews legitimizes candidates. He passed up interviews last year and most ppl were happy about that.

It's crazy the shit you guys still come up with, pick his brain? After 10 years,I can't listen to that.
