He took a wicked blindside hit on special teams at the end of regulation--no penalty called, and not much of a mention from the announcers. Wonder how much that hit played into his fate.
Are among the most badass Giants games ever played.
Two of the most brutal games physically.
I also think the 2011 title game is Eli’s signature performance of his career. There is nothing that tops that. The guts, the throw to Manningham. It’s his greatest game.
but I still think he doesn't get enough credit for the 2007 conf championship in -1 degrees Green Bay. The conditions did impact his game one bit. He outplayed Favre by a lot.
Niners hit two plays to Davis and did nothing else
Blessed to be there, at Candlestick, that day, with my son. I knew it was going to be a good day when a fan standing in line , waiting to get in , mistook me for ex Cal & Vikings great Joe Capp. He was very excited and asked me for an autograph !
It was raining hard. I'd taken a full rain suite. Some girl, sitting next to me, kept hugging me every time the Niners did something good(she couldn't see the Giants sweatshirt underneath). She didn't figure out I was a Giants fan till the end, when I was celebrating. She was so disappointed, poor thing - Ha !
I paced around watching that game the entire night. What a relief it was to come out of that with a victory. I felt beat up just watching that slug fest. Eli Manning really was a hell of a champion

The video of the post game locker room is GREAT.
Eli took a beating - that 49ers team was a couple of wins away from being an all-time defense. That front 7 was as good as it got.
