Good afternoon. Long time lurker first time poster. Was on the Giants boards a long time. I was having this discussion the other day with friends / fellow Giants fans and the topic of what to do with Jones and Barkley came up. Let’s say Wilson would come here. Or even Watson. Would Jones and Barkley plus the 5th pick be enough or would you give up more? We all feel like Jones will stay but I’m not sure about Saquon “injury plagued” Barkley. He adds no value when around the league 3rd rounders are playing better. What would you do with them?
If we want to trade for a big time qb it’s going to cost 2-3 premium picks and or players.
If the cost to acquire a qb doesn’t bother anyone here I guarantee you it won’t be enough.
This second year after surgery should allow him to do all that he was used to, imo. I’d pay him what he’s due and see where he’s at performance-wise. If he does well, you have an option to re-sign him, tag him or trade him.
Seattle gave up 2 juicy premium picks for the jets safety.
Dallas gave up 1-2 picks for amari Cooper
Bears traded one future first, a top ten pick and more to trade up with nyg last year, for their qb.
You gotta give to get. You want a star qb ?? You’re going to have to give up what everyone here will deem “too much.” We’re talking at least 2 probably 3 premium picks.

Even if there wasn’t a bidding war we’d have to pony up. I’ll say it would cost both first round picks this year and a future first in 2023 and we’d have to send some salary there way and it likely have to be a player the Texans want. So let’s say it’s jackson, 2 firsts in 2022 and a first in 2023 and a cheaper desirable player, I’ll say Julian love.
You ready to do this? 3 firsts, jackson and love. Watson is all yours. In or out?
You ain’t getting a 28 year old franchise qb for much less.

You really needed a longer sabbatical.
You make the trade if you basically only need the veteran QB to get you up 1 or 2 levels and deep or deeper in the playoffs, and we aren’t nearly that close.
But others have posted the same on BBI, so you’re not alone.

Watson is 26.
I also think yoi can get him for less. He doesnt wanna pkay in houston. They are gonna have to deal him once he is cleared of charges.
Call em up and offer #7, jones and a 2023 first. That might be closer than we think. They dont have much leverage and only 2 teams have enough draft ammo to make offer

Maybe NOT doing a grueling offseason workout kept him from missing a lot of games. Just sayin’
when he has time on rare occasions he is accurate .
Half his interceptions were flukes or bounced off of Ingram.
A running game with a solid OL will also do wonders
