Gallant has completely transformed him. For years we watchedKreider shoot the puck into the middle of the goalies chest protector. Now he just hangs out in front of the net and pokes the puck in from three feet. Leading the league in goals now

Worked for Phil Esposito.

Adam Graves scored 52 basically doing the same thing. The best news is he isn't just relying on his speed and powerful skating, which means this version of him should age just fine with his contract.

Which is why I would move him to RW and play Laffy at LW1. When a guy is scoring 95% of his goals on the doorstep, does it really matter if he plays on the left side?
Jakob Chychrun is a phenomenal young LD, but I have to imagine that
A) the price will be very steep; and B) that's another guy who is earning close to 5M per long-term.
Jeff Marek
@JeffMarek
As I just reported on the 32 Thoughts segment on Hockey Night in Canada....
The Arizona Coyotes have at least one offer that meets their criteria in a Jakob Chychrun deal - two former first round picks and a 1st round selection in an upcoming draft.
Jeff Marek
@JeffMarek
Plenty of teams are interested in Chychrun including the Rangers who have discussed Vitali Kravtsov but not sure that moves the needle for the Coyotes. I still think the Panthers are the team to watch so far.

Per @JeffMarek on 32 Thoughts on HNIC, the #NYR have offered a package to the Coyotes for Jakob Chychrun that includes Vitaly Kravtsov.
Also notes that the #NYR have inquired about Jake DeBrusk.
Important to note: the Rangers are obviously not the only team in on Chychrun. Marek mentioned Los Angeles, Anaheim, Boston, Florida, and Columbus as other interested teams.
Chychrun is going to be steep. If Kravtsov is the headliner, I'd do it, but I have a feeling that Schneider, Lundkvist or Zac Jones would also head the other way.
or any other high paid player whose contract goes beyond this year.
There are various ways to break down next season’s core shadow roster, but as it shakes out at this point, the Rangers look to have around $11 million to sign Ryan Strome (or an equivalent top-six center to skate with Artemi Panarin), Kaapo Kakko, a backup goaltender, three more forwards and a seventh defenseman.
This is where you rely on your drafting.
Kreider in his current incarnation reminds me a lot of Tim Kerr
Is Kreider the right guy? Captain is more about leadership than it is being the leading goal scorer. I was thinking Trouba might be a good choice, but none of us know (at least I don't know won't speak for everyone) who the leaders on that team really are.
for sure he is in a sophomore slump and not as physical as I would like for a defender his size. Not ready to trade him yet. I really like what I see from Schneider the last several games. He is a definite keeper.
Whether he will wear the C on his jersey or not, it is clear to me watching the players' interactions with him on ice--and I refer specifically to Zib, Igor, Panarin, Laf, Fox et al.--he is very well liked and respected, and why not?
On a different note, a prediction: Georgiev going to go into a funk? I opine this after seeing his most perfunctory congrats to Igor as players lined up to tap the goalie. Georgiev almost had a scowl on his mug, and I suspect he's not thrilled with being GG's potential sacrificial lamb to CAR (many of us wondered why coach wouldn't put his best keeper vs one of/the best team they've faced). Georgiev thrives when he believes he's seen as indispensable and resents when he's perceived as second best. Just my speculation.

Its not a sophomore slump - he wasnt good last year, either. You have to give to get, and players dont all of a sudden become more physical - either you are or you aint.
The fact that Gallant benches Miller for Nemeth when protecting a lead in the last 5 minutes of games tells you
all you need to know

It may also be that GG goes with experience over youth when chips are down, but it's a reasonable point. Then again, GG may be taking his cues from Igor vs TOR: keeping the puck out of KAM's hands late )>: LULZ
- Is maddening that KAM is so non-physical, and it's clear GG likes his d-men as well as team overall to be physical (and is, in part, I believe why KK and Laf are constrained offensively, so far, as they've been instructed to be responsible in the checking game--gotta do both).
So, Schneider is a no-brainer on this team and, in part, why Nils was sent to Hartford. Schneider also has good size, so does KAM, but he doesn't use it. Nils doesn't, neither does Jones, so in this regime that seems to work against them...and for a move?
Top 5 in goals
Top 5 in shots
Top 5 in hits
Top 5 in blocks
Top 20 in ES points
That's an $8M season boys and girls.
Along with Kreider, he's thriving under Gallant, some others, not so much. Many puzzling pieces on this team, too many questions, and it's not clear that Drury will have the right answers.
And our RW depth is putrid
Needed to find their legs

Tim Kerr never dreamed of being able to skate like Krieder.
