Allen had a career game last week. Good QB, but he comes down to earth, imo
This is what I think too. Plus add in the fact that KC is likely still stinging from their loss to the Bills earlier in the year, when they had their mini-slide, and I just think there are a number of emotional factors going for KC today
Allen had a career game last week. Good QB, but he comes down to earth, imo
Allen is much better than just “Good QB”. He’s a top 5 QB in the league right now, imo.
Could be, but I have always ranked QBs by how they handle the biggest games which is why my top 5 QBs are Montana, Brady, Starr, Staubach, Eli(there are others) even if other regular season QB greats blow these guys out of the water statistically (save for Brady of course)..😎
started as a intern with Reid years ago and was with him a long time. DC for Reid after Johnson's passing. Fired him after two years.
Really not sure how this one goes. Can see a Chiefs route or another outstanding playoff game this weekend. Interested to see how Spags attacks and Daboll counters.
under a different Playoff system, these two teams would be in the Super Bowl between the two best, imo...but the games are played on the field. Excited for this one.
This feels like a classic heavyweight title fight. I hope this one lives up to the hype. Could see it going either way, but I think KC will come out on top.
hope the Giants don't overthink the HC position and just hire Daboll. This team needs a big time offensive mind. I have zero confidence that Flores can find that if he's HC. Last thing we need is a coach who goes through offensive coordinators every season.
Daboll looking pretty good so far. Let's see him keep it up
defenders have taken themselves out of plays and allowed Mahomes to just run wild. The angles they have taken have been pathetic.
Yep. They need to completely ignore the pump fake and just concentrate on putting the shoulder pads into his ribs. If he wants to run, make him pay a severe price
RE: To think the Giants could have drafted either QB
it fun to think that the HCs on the Giants wanted to draft both quarterbacks in this game, but the GM said no? Good times.
And the one who passed on Allen was allowed to retire, while the one who passed on Mahomes was fired despite being a big part of 2 Super Bowls.
It annoys me that Gettleman was allowed to retire while Reese was fired.
The Allen one wouldn't bother me nearly as much if they took a different QB, even if they were wrong, I would have been ok with it, at least they were swinging for the fences.
But taking a running back over Allen? Inexcusable.
I screwed up. Mahomes was taken way ahead of the Giants pick.
McAdoo wanted the Giants to trade up for him and the Giants absolutely could have done so, they could have traded up to the spot the Chiefs did and given up what the Chiefs gave up and got him. Giants pick was higher than the Chiefs so their offer would have been preferable to the Chiefs offer.

Agreed. Similar to what the Giants did to Hurts in the first Philly game every time he ran that option. Hit him hard regardless of him keeping or handing off.
had the luxury of a starter who was taking them to the playoffs and playign relatively well.
He may not have needed a year, but Reid had the luxury of letting him watch for a year because Alex Smith was playing well enough.
No one knows if he would have been just as good even if he played right from the start (obviously not immediately this good, but his development very well may have been the same)

Mook - there was a few articles explaining Mahomes had to learn how to read defenses instead of the one read at Tech. There were even articles that in camp of his MVP year - he was struggling with INTs.
There’s little doubt sitting and learning made him better.
have learned that while on the job. No one disputes he had a lot to learn, but it's also possible to leanr that while on the job. Im sure his first year starting wouldnt have been great if he started from day 1 but his development may have been the same, no one knows. The guy has a lot of things you can't teach and would have showed whether or not he sat for a season
for the Chiefs sitting him made sense, they were still good enough to make the playoffs and compete with him on the bench. But I dont buy he wouldn't be the player he is now if he didn't sit that 1st year.

I think it helped. But we will never know. But it’s a fact having reid was the best thing for him. Not sure McAdoo and a terrible roster would put him in the position he is in today.
better get this game back on the tracks quickly. If they go in down 7 they will be down 14 before they see the ball again. They need to score before half.
is like being allowed to play with 12 men. The Bills finally got him but he's running them ragged. He's just insanely elusive and slippery. His anticipation and ability to juke defenders is so good it's almost like he's toying with these incredibly talented people chasing him. At this rate, the Bills defense will be exhausted by the third quarter.
squandered two golden opportunities in the 1st half and if they dont score before half they will get the ball back down at least 10 points. They're not going to come back against the Chiefs down a couple scores, this drive has to end in at least a field goal.
Watching this game on them going for it on 4th down.
It is ok to make coherent statements about play calls. But do you see one player on the Giants offense that could get open or break a tackle like Mahomes and Allen are doing?
Try to be the slightest bit reasonable.
RE: The triangle of MLB and two safeties the Bills have
Mahomes runs wild and people are trying to chase him out of bounds then he cuts up… then complains when he inadvertently takes a leg to the head. My goodness
Punting that ball is going to cost them a chance to go to the AFC Championship.
He was aggressive early and then when he needed to be aggressive and absolutely could not even think of punting it, he punted it.
The Bills controlled their own destiny offensively until he punted that ball.
I'd be beside myself if I were a Bills fan. You have to see how the game is going and recognize your defense is gassed and the Chiefs are about to explode. You can't punt on 4th and 2 feet no matter how backed up you are
are going to need a tipped pass or a fumble to stop them. Mahomes was a relative statue last year in the playoffs but this year they just can't catch him or get him to the ground when they do
hits go tonight? That is fine, but better not see any calls later.
He was a runner at that point and does not get the protection of a defenseless receiver or QB. Unless they deemed it to be late, he does not get that protection

Bullshit. Helmet to helmet is 15. We have seen it called all year. Cannot lead with the crown of the helmet anywhere.

Yup, and the helmets are allowed to touch, there just can’t be “forceable contact”

Aside from PM being a runner there maybe we saw it differently but it didn’t look like the crown to me. Looked more face to face and the defender didn’t look to me like he lowered his head to make contact

Lead with his helmet - forehead to forehead. That was not an inadvertent hit or incidental. That has been called all year. I do not agree with the rule but it what has been called.
We will just have to disagree and let it go.

There would be 20 personal foul calls a game if you want the rules enforced that way…
Its amazing how seldom other teams players run routes 1-2 yards short of the line to gain, or while running back towards the LOS. We have been in such hell.
I missed where I said he sucked. Legitimate question, why wait that long to chip with the TE? The offensive line got abused in pass pro, Allen is playing at an all pro level. Give him some more time back there and instead of asking him to create on his own every play.
Sick of Mahomes. Sick of Andy Reid. Sick of Kelce. Particularly sick of Tyreek Hill who is a scumbag.
But then we get Daboll sooner.
I'm not worried about that. It's not college where you need a coach ASAP because of recruiting. They can basically hire him and he can put a staff together before he ever takes the job officially
WTF do you mean dumb? VERY FEW ON HERE wanted Allen. They didn’t necessarily want a RB, but the consensus was either Darnold or Rosen, so kindly cut the shit

yeah not to mention the other teams that also passed on Allen. Fucking moronic...
Each of these 2nd half TD's for Buff have been absolutely
not squibbing the ball down the middle is going to haunt him for the rest of his life if they lose in overtime. The 3-4 seconds coming off on a kickoff would have made what the Chiefs just did virtually impossible

But Mahomes would have started closer to the necessary yardage. And the clock does not start until the ball is touched.
got the job done but the Bills made it very easy to do so. You first have to squib the ball down the middle. Even if they return it to the 30-35 getting 4-5 seconds off of the clock make it worth it.
On Kelce’s grab to go in FG range? You have no one else on that side of the field how do you get caught flat footed and not expect a seam route? You have to have situational awareness there. KC has a timeout anyway why were you worrying about the sideline.
Still have the if a TD or Safety is scored with the first possession of OT the game ends (Hate this rule).
OVERTIME RULES FOR NFL POSTSEASON GAMES
Unlike regular season games, postseason games cannot end in a tie, so the overtime rules change slightly for the playoffs.
If the score is still tied at the end of an overtime period — or if the second team’s initial possession has not ended — the teams will play another overtime period. Play will continue regardless of how many overtime periods are needed for a winner to be determined.
There will be a two-minute intermission between each overtime period. There will not be a halftime intermission after the second period.
The captain who lost the first overtime coin toss will either choose to possess the ball or select which goal his team will defend, unless the team that won the coin toss deferred that choice.
Each team gets three timeouts during a half.
The same timing rules that apply at the end of the second and fourth regulation periods also apply at the end of a second or fourth overtime period.
If there is still no winner at the end of a fourth overtime period, there will be another coin toss, and play will continue until a winner is declared.
one of the worst losses of all time for a fan base that has lost some of the most vile ways in sports history.
I wouldnt sleep for a week if I were a Bills fan and they lose
I don’t feel sorry for them. The HC & DC fucked up at the end of the game. And if you can’t win with the other team leaving Gabriel Davis open ALL FUCKING NIGHT, then you didn’t deserve to win.
McDermott recovers from this loss if they score here.
This is the type of loss that a head coach eventually gets fired for.
I feel so bad for Bills fans. Football Gods owe the Bills, this is just cruel. And a Kansas City team who has been full of scumbags for a while with employees on the team who are scumbags and players like Hill who are scumbags wins? That makes me sick.
If there is a God the Chiefs will be stopped. I'm so fucking sick of the horse shoe being stuck firmly up theri ass since they got Mahomes.
Aren't we going to hire Frazier as our head coach?
I think this game makes it impossible. there's no way they could announce him as HC with a straight face to the media and fans with this performance so fresh

Is this like the Bills version of the Giants 2003 playoff meltdown in San Fran?
I know you are trying to be contrarian here, but the Bills fucking picked him (who Schoen was apart of btw). A lot of others weren’t smart enough to even do that.

You need to step away. Far to invested in a team that isn't even yours.
deserves a smarter organization. Just inexplicable coaching decisions.
I have to say, your long con is seemingly endless. I saw bad coaching today from all 4 teams, are those stupid organizations too? Who are all these flawless organizations that should be worthy of Allen?
Funniest part is Allen wasn’t very good as a rookie and grew into his own with the support of the franchise who drafted him. He could have been drafted later and might not be as good as he is today, but I don’t expect you to think like that.
I know you are trying to be contrarian here, but the Bills fucking picked him (who Schoen was apart of btw). A lot of others weren’t smart enough to even do that.

These may be the 2 best teams in the NFL right now with the 2 best QBs. People criticizing the D is way off. Both QBs went up and down the field. I know its tough to recognize great QB play from where we have been the last few years but this is what happens in games like this.

Explain the Bucs then. Bad coaching today too, same coaches that won the SB last year.

Both QBs are GREAT, but Gabriel Davis was left wide open on 3 of his 4 TDs with absolutely zero help for the primary defender. That’s just plan bad defense. Travis Kelce is WIDE open on a critical third down in OT. That’s just bad defense.
I know you are trying to be contrarian here, but the Bills fucking picked him (who Schoen was apart of btw). A lot of others weren’t smart enough to even do that.

Pick your poison. They both have so many weapons just not one. Heck we don't have any. 4 penalties the whole game that is usually what we get in the first quarter. This was 2 elite teams period
is the Bills called timeouts before both plays by the Chiefs in regulation. They had plenty of time to come up with a good defense and get everyone on the same page. And the defense they came up with was to let Hill and Kelce have free releases right down the middle for the easiest completions of Mahomes career.
Defending the sidelines there was so fucking dumb. The chiefs were never using the sidelines. They had 3 timeouts. No point in throwing to the sidelines because tops they are going to get 3 plays off so they can throw in the middle of the field every single time.
This is a game that would automatically disqualify Frazier as a candidate for me.

Seems like the coaching staff on the offensive side of the ball made some good decisions in the last few minutes to take the lead multiple times. The real issue is with the defensive coordinator who made every wrong call towards the end of the game. That was more of the issue vs the kickoff.. but hey, a simple minded person like yourself cannot make that distinction.
it doesn’t mean the entire franchise is stupid. You are trying so hard all the time to be smarter than anyone that you forget, or purposely ignore, that people make mistakes. The Bills aren’t a stupid organization, you are only saying that in case Schoen doesn’t work out you could have predicted it.
Like I said, long con with no end in sight. Boring enough for you?

I believe you. I was truly on the fence this game. Seems like I was rooting for the team with the ball more than either team.
And yes, they need to guarantee each team a chance with the ball in the playoffs. They do it for FGs, but not TDs which is wrong.
fair to criticize the D when in critical moments the Chiefs and Bills were letting guys run wide open. There were not jaw dropping throws into tight windows deciding this game. Literally guys wide open
The Bills had a bad night coaching, no doubt. Especially Frazier & kicking it into the end zone. But right now, the Bills are one of the better franchises. Which franchise do you suggest Allen “deserves” right now?

Big difference between trying to recover from a devastating loss with mid 20s Josh Allen as opposed to a 30+ year old recovering alcoholic like Fassel had to. The Bills will be fine. They need more talent on the d line though. They’ll have their best defensive player back next season too.

Why does Kerry Collins have to catch strays here? Squib kick the ball and none of this happens.
Watched some excellent QB play other than Rodgers and Jimmy G.
Man I wish we had Josh Allen. Just love his game.
It was great seeing the passion and desire to win.
Burrow, Hill,Samuel, Allen, Mahomes, Kelce, etc…. Putting it all on the line.
I have not enjoyed watching football games like these four games in awhile.
Not kicking the ball down the middle is inexcusable. And then the defense that they played AFTER calling timeouts before each play is just as bad.
McDermott is going to be haunted by the kickoff until he actually wins a super bowl, if it ever happens.
The Bills would have had this game at home if they didn't lose 9-6 in Jacksonville. Next year they need to make sure thye have home field advantage, I think the crowd gets them over the finish line if that game was in Buffalo.

Perhaps 1 less play - 13 seconds equaled 3 plays including the FG.

You do realize that:
1) the clock does not start until the ball is touched
2) the clock does not start on a fair catch and it goes to the 25 yard line anyway.
So even if squibbed down the middle and someone falls on it, maybe one second comes off the clock and more than likely they start at better than the 25 yard line.
I know you are trying to be contrarian here, but the Bills fucking picked him (who Schoen was apart of btw). A lot of others weren’t smart enough to even do that.
It’s a long con, painfully obvious at this point.
You mean like intimating at this being a draft to pick a QB and never naming the QB we should take at 5?
Offenses - Equal
Defenses - KC (Bills' ran out of gas at the end)
Coaching - No contest, KC better
As a Giants fan, who is still agonizing over the loss to the Baltimore Colts in the NFL Championship game in '58, I'm not shedding any tears for the Bills.
I'm Old School - Sudden death, who ever scores first (no "do-overs)
The Bills had a bad night coaching, no doubt. Especially Frazier & kicking it into the end zone. But right now, the Bills are one of the better franchises. Which franchise do you suggest Allen “deserves” right now?
Allen was the Bills tonight. He kept them in the game and put them on the precipice of winning. But a horrible decision by his coaches cost him an opportunity to host the AFC Championship against the Bengals. And then a chance for the SB.
Because you know how fleeting these opportunities are...there are no guarantees.

it still would have been a better option than what they did. In moments like these sometimes guys fuck up and dont do what they should do. The took it out of the players hands to make the right play and kicked it right through the endzone.
There were 2 options as far as im concerned. Squibbing it down the middle or kicking it to the 5-10 yard line. Kicking it to the 5-10 was definitely the ideal one but the one thing that should not have been a consideration was what they actually did.
McDermott made clock management mistakes too. He lost 20 seconds by not calling his 2nd timeout 2 plays before they scored. It didnt matter because Allen got the touchdown anyways but it was still poor clock management that was only bailed out by Allen throwing a rocket to Davis for TD.
RE: RE: Or they could have kicked it to the 5 yd line
So even if squibbed down the middle and someone falls on it, maybe one second comes off the clock and more than likely they start at better than the 25 yard line.
A good squib kick should eat 3 seconds off the clock - because it is hard to field them cleanly - and very likely be fielded inside the 15. So you are taking 10 yards away and 3 seconds.
Look, I also give credit where credit is due. The Chiefs were masterful with the execution - from the two throws to the FG.
I bet a lot of Ram fans have smashed tv's but the games have been

This is the topic you are raising right now? Just beautiful.
As more information is collected from workouts, Combine, etc I'll be more than glad to oblige.
In the meantime, enjoy the safety of the BBI mainstream.
Lmao. Sorry I don't paint myself as smarter than the people doing the actual jobs of running football teams. I guess that makes me safe in the BBI mainstream...

ITA. Trying to win in Arrowhead the way they play is damn near impossible. They didn’t do it tonight despite Gabriel Davis being left open repeatedly and the KC kicker crapping his pants. They need this game at home next year.
saying " He played his nuts off" referring to Allen
He said “ass” and probably won’t get any grief over it, but who knows. I wouldn’t be surprised to hear he got fined. Not that he should, I just wouldn’t be surprised if he did.

You would think they would get a title with Allen, but nothing is guaranteed. We all thought Rodgers would have been back for multiple titles after his 1st, he hasn't played in a Super Bowl since never mind won one.
I wouldn't want McDermott around any longer if I were a Bills fan. His coaching was atrocious today. His decision to punt on 4th and 2 feet in the 3rd quarter was horrendous. He was ultra aggressive early on going for it, then went conservative and punted and he got the ball back 2 minutes later down by 9 when he punted down 3.
The coverage htey called with 13 seconds and then 8 seconds was laugh out loud bad. Romo was absolutely right, rushing 4 there was pointless. All that did was take more guys out of the picture who could have been in coverage. Mahomes was never holding on to the ball more than 1 or 2 seconds so the pass rush was pointless.
On the first down play they literally had 4 guys straight across 15 yards off the ball. Made the pass to Hill so easy and allowed him to get 15 yards without being touched and able to get down immediately.
If McDermott's goal was to screw up the coverage on those plays he couldn't have done it any better. That he called timeout before both plays makes it even worse.
They defended the sideliens for no reason. Newsflash the Chiefs have 3 timeouts and aren't even thinking about the sidelines. The defense on the Kelce catch with 8 seconds was the worst i've ever seen. The defender on him had outside leverage so he was giving him the seam wide open. Take inside leverage and make him run a 10 yard out. Instead he's allowed a free release right up the seam and can catch it on the run heading for the endzone.
likely wouldnt listen but I'd call them and try to get Tomlin. I'd trade multiple picks if I had to. Coaching is the Bills biggest issue.
The Bills were 0-5 in 1 score games this year. Every win they had was at least a 2 score game. That says a lot about their head coach. When he had to get out of close games alive, he couldn't do it.
Their wins were all blowouts. Closest win was a 12 point win over New England in Foxboro.
I couldn't be more down on McDermott and Frazier. They had a highly ranked defense but they never got stops that they needed to win games. They lost every close game.
Maybe we shouldnt have been surprised by how badly McDermott fucked the end of game situation up. They did a good job all year of finding ways to lose close games.
The Bills defense was gassed when Hill shot down the field and scored. Their secondary was running in cement when Kelce broke to the middle of the field and made the uncontested first down.

They were definitely tired, but their alignment was just a mind numbing coverage to play in that spot. They gave them free access to an easy 20 yards without even getting a ahnd on either guy

The salt on the wound for the Bills D was having to come right back on the field after giving up the game-tying FG.
I was a little behind on TiVo delay. What the fuck was the Bills game plan? On offense it seemed like running Josh Allen until they were forced to let him throw the ball. Where was Diggs? And on defense, holy smokes, was the plan to let Mahomes throw the ball?
Big Red’s crew of talented scumbags was the better team. But the Bills coaching was terrible.
And speaking of terrible, who told Romo it was a good idea to write on the screen before the snap? Tony Romo was the only thing in Arrowhead more pathetic than the Bills coaching staff.

This was sort of my point - made better here - on the other thread about Daboll on the other thread.
I feel like Allen bailed him out at the end of that game when they took their first lead.
These may be the 2 best teams in the NFL right now with the 2 best QBs. People criticizing the D is way off. Both QBs went up and down the field. I know its tough to recognize great QB play from where we have been the last few years but this is what happens in games like this.
+1. Exactly this.
That QB-play was absolutely captivating, mesmerizing, inspiring, exhilarating, all the superlatives.
Everyone is just criticizing the Defenses talking about “guys are running around wide open!” It looks like that because the QBs exhibited absolutely elite timing, vision, and decision-making, not to mention these are 2 of the top 3 “arm talents” in the entire league along with Rodgers.
If you watch the all-22 of any given game, you’ll see on a lot of plays there are guys wide open for a split second on a lot of plays, but when a guy is open in the NFL oftentimes he isn’t open for long and if the QB doesn’t see it AND anticipate it the play just doesn’t happen. It’s the football-IQ, vision, timing, and anticipation that made it simply look EASY for those 2 QBs tonight.
Throw in the fact these guys have maybe the 2 strongest arms in the entire NFL and the ball was just simply was getting to the open men in milliseconds. They can make a 35 yard throw look like 10 yard slant pass without even setting their feet— just insanely difficult to cover that much field for a secondary.
Also remember guys like Kelce and Hill are flat great athletes and players— they’re just tough to cover— you also can’t double both guys on the same play and Mahomes/Reid know that. Hardman can take the top off of any D too so it just becomes really difficult to stop.
As Romo said on the TD to Hill it’s nearly impossible to win on an in-breaking route against that particularly coverage but the Chiefs said fuck it let’s try it anyway because with Hill’s speed combined with Mahomes’ talent they can make it work. On that camera angle from behind Mahomes on that one you could really see how elite his timing, anticipation, and accuracy is— with pressure in his face no less— and the flat out trust in Hill to know he’s gonna win on that route against that coverage. Wow.
Also: Technically Kelce was covered on that play at the end of regulation but Reid/Mahomes/Kelce knew exactly what defense the Bills were playing and Kelce is probably the best TE in the league at flat-out knowing how the hell to get open.
Kicking the touchback was probably dumb as hell (especially with the ball coming out to the 25 instead of the 20 now) but once Mahomes had 2 plays to just get 35-40 yards (with 3 timeouts + Butker’s leg) I knew there was a chance: It’s just tough to cover the entire field against these guys— especially because in that situation the Chiefs know exactly what the Bills are doing— not like they’re gonna run some well-disguised complicated blitz + coverage there, they’re gonna rush 3 or 4 and play some basic prevent-type zone. That’s a big reason why you see teams go up and down the field easier in those 2-min situations: because defenses get conservative and more predictable there— it’s humans nature; they have the lead with 13 seconds left, they’re not gonna be risky/aggressive asking their guys to try some innovative disguised coverage, because if they screw it up it could be a TD. So you give Mahomes/Reid a predictable/conservative look with those skills players and the whole field to work with and suddenly a couple 20 yard chunk plays doesn’t seem all that inconceivable IMO. With any other team yeah definitely, but not the Chiefs.
These are 2 of the best Ds in the league (the Bills all season and the Chiefs the 2nd half of the season). Think the fact Mahomes and Allen are playing at levels right now perhaps never before known to man has anything to do with the defenses looking pedestrian?
Chiefs also lost Mathieu + a starting corner so I also give them an excuse there, but on the other side of the ball i think we just have to give Mahomes & Reid credit— they’re both offensive geniuses and Mahomes seems to have a literal Live visual map of the entire field and every player on it in his head at all times, plus he can throw anywhere from any angle. Mahomes has been the starter for 4 years and 4 straight years the AFCCG has been at Arrowhead. Longest consecutive stretch ever of hosting a Conference Championship. And I think they’re evolving and getting better and better. It’s scary as hell.
AFC is stacked with young QB talent though so it’s not gonna be an easy road each year for them, but I still think Reid/Mahomes are BOTH the current bests at what they do, and that sets up for an extremely tough out every single year for the next decade or so. They’re going to be one of those teams for a long ass time that it just doesn’t matter what peaks and valleys they face each regular season— if they get in “the tournament” they’ll have a solid chance to win it all.
I do think the D’s were simply tired by OT— whichever team got the ball first was winning. Does kind of make you want both teams to get the ball at least once. I don’t see why you can’t just play going back and forth until one team scores more points on their possession than they other team (like college football but not starting at the 25. I would like those rules even if they’re just for the playoffs.
Also along these lines: I really think the regular season OT has to be out back to being 15 minutes. I do not see why it is 10 minutes— for what purpose? The reason I say this is because I’ve gotten frustrated several times the last couple years seeing the team that gets the first possession take 8 minutes off the clock, kick a FG, and then the other team gets the ball and can’t run their normal offense: they have to run a 2 minute drill just to get in FG range to make the game end in a TIE. Just seems stupid.

While true, go back and look at Jags game and home game vs Steelers. The bills offense shit the bed in both those games. How about we just realize that was one crazy ass, fun, amazing game that KC ended up winning. If that game were played in Buffalo the Bills would have won..
Mahomes movement in the pocket last night avoiding pressure

It’s 10 minutes in the regular season because the NFL wants to limit the chance of injuries to fatigued players.
was out of this world. Bills D put alot of pressure on Mahomes but he was a Houdini escaping the pressure.
Last night was the best game I have seen in years by 2 great young QB's.
I thought that there were significant periods of the game that the Bills offense went to conservative.
I saw it the same way. Bills were getting pressure and Mahomes is so strong he was breaking arm grabs and either would take yards down the field running or wait till someone broke open. I think the Bills were actually covering well for the most part but impossible to hold coverage when things break down.
Just two QB's who are both very big and strong who kept their poise and had the athletic ability to maneuver in the pocket.
Me 2. And with Cincy winning - home field goes to other team. Huge for both teams.
This is what I think too. Plus add in the fact that KC is likely still stinging from their loss to the Bills earlier in the year, when they had their mini-slide, and I just think there are a number of emotional factors going for KC today

Really not sure how this one goes. Can see a Chiefs route or another outstanding playoff game this weekend. Interested to see how Spags attacks and Daboll counters.
I predict last year’s..Will find out tonight
Could be
Same, this is going to be a doozy.
Hopefully the latter but probably multi-tasking.
In fairness, I think a lot of HC’s would’ve punted there.
It's Riley Dixon. I doubt it would've went anywhere near that far.
My opinion exactly.

Will make this a perfect weekend
My opinion exactly.
You’ll have 4 QBs who have never won a SB. That’ll be awesome
This isn't college, we can wait. He can essentially be hired and start forming a staff before the Bills season is over.
At this very moment, both teams are stronger than what they were last year when they met despite their records.
Giants never had the chance to draft Mahomes.

Yep. They need to completely ignore the pump fake and just concentrate on putting the shoulder pads into his ribs. If he wants to run, make him pay a severe price
Would have needed to trade up. They did not pass on Mahomes.
No Mahomes is just ridiculous

Giants picked 23rd the year Mahomes went 12th in the draft.
Mahomes was never available during a Giants pick.
Having Reid coaching him and sitting him a year made a huge difference.

Yup. By any means necessary.
Hard to compete without one.

Agreed. Similar to what the Giants did to Hurts in the first Philly game every time he ran that option. Hit him hard regardless of him keeping or handing off.

Mahomes - ( New Window )
I think it helped. But we will never know. But it’s a fact having reid was the best thing for him. Not sure McAdoo and a terrible roster would put him in the position he is in today.

If Mahomes had come to the Giants, he would've sat a year just like he did in KC, he wasn't going to start over Eli.
The difference is, instead of Reid coaching him up that year, it would've been McAdoo.
Took the ball out Allen’s hands two plays in a row. They may hand it off 3 more times now.
Really? He had holding his jersey for like 10 steps

Too bad these coaches weren’t GMs instead.

Ojulari and a third this year could be a fair trade off.
Really? They just look like one more defense that can’t get off the field against the Chiefs.
It is ok to make coherent statements about play calls. But do you see one player on the Giants offense that could get open or break a tackle like Mahomes and Allen are doing?
Try to be the slightest bit reasonable.
Could use our second on the Alabama backer. The Georgia guy is a WLB. No really good MLB this draft.
That’s our future coach
You watched their game last week, didn't you?
Punting that ball is going to cost them a chance to go to the AFC Championship.
He was aggressive early and then when he needed to be aggressive and absolutely could not even think of punting it, he punted it.
The Bills controlled their own destiny offensively until he punted that ball.
I'd be beside myself if I were a Bills fan. You have to see how the game is going and recognize your defense is gassed and the Chiefs are about to explode. You can't punt on 4th and 2 feet no matter how backed up you are
Butker with an awful night kicking.
I think it doesn't work without Josh Allen.
They're the number 1 defense in the league. That being said. If they don't figure out how to stop Mahomes pretty quick. This game is over.
I think they're overrated a bit, but this chiefs offense also is impossible to stop when they're clicking.
Not sure, but Josh Allen is....
That one was all Ken Dorsey

The entire system would be different without Allen. Of course this system wouldnt work with a statue at QB.
Daboll is a very good play caller. Whether or not he can be a good HC remains to be seen, but he knows how to call a game.
"What's the ideal number of plays in a drive?", asked Summerall.
"One," answered Madden.
Case in point.
Hahaha.

Bullshit. Helmet to helmet is 15. We have seen it called all year. Cannot lead with the crown of the helmet anywhere.

It wasn’t Kelce. It was Bell.
Who? Exactly.
That holding them to a FG by Buffalo was a huge win for their defense

K.I.S.S. FGs are not going to win this at this point.
Agreed.
Allen is unreal...
I’m sorry but the playcalling has been very meh.
Daboll is calling too many runs by Allen.
I’m sorry but the playcalling has been very meh.
Agreed. I don't like the volume of QB designed runs either. Gotta be smart with your 250 million quarterback.
He is Superman.
Daboll is a genius!
This aged poorly
And then Allen makes another incredible play on the two point conversion.
😆
Give that man his money!
But some say Jones is better. 😉😉😉.
That TD was an absolute laser beam of a pass
And it only took until 4th and 13 with two minutes to chip with the TE. Where was that all drive?
It was blown coverage and fall down by the DB and a terrific instinctual job by Josh Allen.

Still #1 defense in the league. Mahomes to Hill is a killer combo. I do not like Dabol's playcalling.
Lots of jumping the gun on these games threads this weekend
Three timeouts left.
Mahomes was horrendous in that game and the first half of the season.
Sick of Mahomes. Sick of Andy Reid. Sick of Kelce. Particularly sick of Tyreek Hill who is a scumbag.

I'm not worried about that. It's not college where you need a coach ASAP because of recruiting. They can basically hire him and he can put a staff together before he ever takes the job officially
What a game.
I agree
at least we have a guy from that organization in ours lol
With you on that

exciting though, what a qb duel
Yep.

its mcdermotts defense
Agreed. And Frazier should have been blitzing.

Absolutely. They could have burned up most of that 13 seconds kicking it short unless they called for a fair catch.
But Mahomes would have started closer to the necessary yardage. And the clock does not start until the ball is touched.

Unless I missed it, no WR on that side of the field. I have no idea what they expected there.
I wouldnt sleep for a week if I were a Bills fan and they lose
I could agree in the playoffs.
Wasn’t even a challenge.
+1
sucks for the bills though
I wouldnt sleep for a week if I were a Bills fan and they lose
I don’t feel sorry for them. The HC & DC fucked up at the end of the game. And if you can’t win with the other team leaving Gabriel Davis open ALL FUCKING NIGHT, then you didn’t deserve to win.
Aren't we going to hire Frazier as our head coach?
crazy game, bills sucks for them and their fans
like torture
13 seconds. by a mile.
If it came with Josh Allen in a Giants uniform, I’d get over it a LOT easier.
Have to say wide right - it was he Super Bowl.
With 13 secs left in the game?
Now that’s some dumb shit right there.
Good night Buffalo.
We hate to see you go.
This. They should have forced a run back on the kickoff
Bills fans have suffered enough.

I think this game makes it impossible. there's no way they could announce him as HC with a straight face to the media and fans with this performance so fresh
my God.. can you take his cock out of your mouth please?
Quote:
deserves a smarter organization. Just inexplicable coaching decisions.
my God.. can you take his cock out of your mouth please?
Haha
This is the type of loss that a head coach eventually gets fired for.
I feel so bad for Bills fans. Football Gods owe the Bills, this is just cruel. And a Kansas City team who has been full of scumbags for a while with employees on the team who are scumbags and players like Hill who are scumbags wins? That makes me sick.
If there is a God the Chiefs will be stopped. I'm so fucking sick of the horse shoe being stuck firmly up theri ass since they got Mahomes.
Bills fans have suffered enough.
Is this like the Bills version of the Giants 2003 playoff meltdown in San Fran?
Agreed. The only rational decision.

Marv Levy survived through much worse
I think this game might force them to look into it. I agree when it comes to the playoffs.
Just an awesome awesome game. Mahomes and Allen are just special talents, I expect to see a lot more classics between those 2 in the future.

You need to step away. Far to invested in a team that isn't even yours.
He could have been drafted later and might not be as good as he is today, but I don’t expect you to think like that.
at what point did "contrarian" become synonymous with "trolling"?
I'm not. Were you impressed with how the Bills coaching staffing managed the end of the game?
Fassel never recovered from the 49ers debacle.
McDermott and his defensive coordinator cost the Bills a shot at a title. I'd have zero faith in either one if I was the bills organization ever again. It won't happen, but I would fire him now. I know it seems crazy, but he wont ever recover from this loss and get them to a Super Bowl. You dont recover from losses that bad.
(Just kidding)
It’s a long con, painfully obvious at this point.

I know you are trying to be contrarian here, but the Bills fucking picked him (who Schoen was apart of btw). A lot of others weren’t smart enough to even do that.

Or are you too daft to understand the game?
Probably the latter...
And the early game was great, too.

Explain the Bucs then. Bad coaching today too, same coaches that won the SB last year.

I feel sick for a lot of people who I know who are Bills fans. Some close friends, and many work friends. We have a store in Buffalo and they all are die hard bills fans, im sick for them.
I know how much it hurts to lose a game like this and those fans have suffered long enough. I'm hurting for them.
Both QBs are GREAT, but Gabriel Davis was left wide open on 3 of his 4 TDs with absolutely zero help for the primary defender. That’s just plan bad defense. Travis Kelce is WIDE open on a critical third down in OT. That’s just bad defense.

These may be the 2 best teams in the NFL right now with the 2 best QBs. People criticizing the D is way off. Both QBs went up and down the field. I know its tough to recognize great QB play from where we have been the last few years but this is what happens in games like this.

Pick your poison. They both have so many weapons just not one. Heck we don't have any. 4 penalties the whole game that is usually what we get in the first quarter. This was 2 elite teams period
DEFENSE
LEAGUE

This is why some teams never win Super Bowls. Have to capitalize on opportunities . Teams change fast, injuries. Tough to stay on top.
Of course, you can't address the point, which is a legitimate about the Bills coaching staff.
Instead, your Tourette's Syndrome kicks and the name calling begins.

Yep, 13 seconds...

You are a beauty. If the Chiefs are forced to field the kickoff critical time is erased.
The Chiefs would have likely lost at least 5 seconds. So they start with 8 second. Do you think that would have made a difference?

Big difference between trying to recover from a devastating loss with mid 20s Josh Allen as opposed to a 30+ year old recovering alcoholic like Fassel had to. The Bills will be fine. They need more talent on the d line though. They’ll have their best defensive player back next season too.
A high short kick to the goal line may have been the best option.

Why does Kerry Collins have to catch strays here? Squib kick the ball and none of this happens.

My mistake. I confused you with Eric.
Regardless, the more we avoid each other, the better.

A Gano special
Tyreek Hill is scum. Fuck him.

When I saw hardman back there instead of hill- that’s what I would have done.

Allen was the Bills tonight. He kept them in the game and put them on the precipice of winning. But a horrible decision by his coaches cost him an opportunity to host the AFC Championship against the Bengals. And then a chance for the SB.
Because you know how fleeting these opportunities are...there are no guarantees.
Ding ding. Coach should be fired. Awful awful awful.

The Bills had a bad night coaching, no doubt. Especially Frazier & kicking it into the end zone. But right now, the Bills are one of the better franchises. Which franchise do you suggest Allen “deserves” right now?

Bullshit. Football is a team sport.
It didnt matter because Allen got the touchdown anyways but it was still poor clock management that was only bailed out by Allen throwing a rocket to Davis for TD.

that would be ideal. Force a return.

So you fair catch it at the 5 and the ball still goes to the 25

Lol, this ain’t college buddy. You fair catch it- it stays at the 5.
Bryant kicks a long squib that goes out of bounds at the one yard line.
Cowboys start at the 40, get in tying FG range with one throw, win in OT.

Why his kicker kicked the ball in the endzone with 13 seconds left to play.
Just wow.
Insane QB play on both sides. The Giants don’t play in this same league...
Truth

This is the topic you are raising right now? Just beautiful.
As more information is collected from workouts, Combine, etc I'll be more than glad to oblige.
In the meantime, enjoy the safety of the BBI mainstream.
You’re assuming KC fields the kick cleanly.
That’s a pretty big assumption with a football scooting along the ground.

Lmao. Sorry I don't paint myself as smarter than the people doing the actual jobs of running football teams. I guess that makes me safe in the BBI mainstream...
.
ITA. Trying to win in Arrowhead the way they play is damn near impossible. They didn’t do it tonight despite Gabriel Davis being left open repeatedly and the KC kicker crapping his pants. They need this game at home next year.
Was to beg for Mahomes to be drafted here.
Giants didn't listen, then Andy Reid on Draft Day leap-frogged everybody and took him.
THIRTEEN seconds, with game on the line, that's Johnny Unitas reincarnated !

The Bills' defense was gassed.
Their coaching staff threw them onto the chopping block, then Mahomes sliced them into slivers.
Vince Lombardi said it best - "Fatigue makes cowards of us all"
The Bills' defense was gassed.
Their coaching staff threw them onto the chopping block, then Mahomes sliced them into slivers.
Vince Lombardi said it best - "Fatigue makes cowards of us all"
Their defense being gassed had nothing to do with what happened with 13 seconds to go.
The coverages they chose to play and not kicking the ball to the 5 yard line or squibbing it is what cost them.
McDermott just doesn't have it as a coach. In close games he always gets out coached.
They were definitely tired, but their alignment was just a mind numbing coverage to play in that spot. They gave them free access to an easy 20 yards without even getting a ahnd on either guy
But at the end, I saw broken tackles and Chiefs receivers blowing by Bills defenders like they were stuck in cement. that was more than bad scheming.
The salt on the wound for the Bills D was having to come right back on the field after giving up the game-tying FG.
That was a very demoralizing transition.
I think it was clear whoever won that toss was going to win the game. The OT rules need to ensure both teams get the ball at least once.

Last night was the best game I have seen in years by 2 great young QB's.
I thought that there were significant periods of the game that the Bills offense went to conservative.

It’s 10 minutes in the regular season because the NFL wants to limit the chance of injuries to fatigued players.
This is why QB win-loss records are garbage. Josh Allen had an A+++ effort in that game.

Is that so hard to do?

I saw it the same way. Bills were getting pressure and Mahomes is so strong he was breaking arm grabs and either would take yards down the field running or wait till someone broke open. I think the Bills were actually covering well for the most part but impossible to hold coverage when things break down.
Just two QB's who are both very big and strong who kept their poise and had the athletic ability to maneuver in the pocket.
