Really wonder if they might look into Doug Pederson or McDaniels or another respected offensive mind. It also seems like almost every one of them either has some tie to the new GM. Same old song. I hope we get some out of the box candidates.
former OC's and a special teams coordinator no one ever heard of was not out of the box enough? How about we settle for some good ole competency and known quantity.
we hired an “out of the box” candidate 2 years ago and everyone loved it. How’d that turn out?
not a single coach in history could win with what Judge was given especially this yr. He saw the writing on the wall and got himself fired. Anyone hired in 2020 was set up to fail.
If reports are true that he "Does not get along well with others", that would be a recipe for disaster here. No matter the coach, we still have several years of rebuild /adversity here. Dealing with disenchanted players and media is a real concern IF these reports are true. Plus, we need an offensive minded HC at this point. Not 100% in on Daboll as I really don't want another 1st time HC, but there are red flags with Flores. I would prefer Quinn over Flores.
And I’ll add Harbaugh...are the last three guys I would want to see ass HC
While I understand the interest in these guys, I can't forgive McDaniels' drafting of Tebow in the first round, I'm too immature to get past Pederson's Philadelphia-ness, and Harbaugh is a bit on the kooky side for me.
I'm sure if you reach out he'll run the candidates by you before scheduling interviews to make sure you approve, you know with all your NFL head coach selection experience.
They will interview a bunch of guys before deciding. I don’t care if it’s an offensive guy or a defensive guy. Make a great hire and surround yourself with a great staff. We are seeing that great defenses can win big games. Hoping that trend continues today.
We have got to make sure we get this right. Unlike the GM search we do have some actual info/ body of work to make some educated guesses on potential candidates. All of these guys just don't seem inspiring to me.
And the arguments for why an OC for hc have been discussed many times (won't lose him every year, etc, etc).
already have head coaching jobs in the league. So, we are left with guys with little to no success as a HQ in this league, or guys who have not proven themselves yet as an NFL HQ. So, how can anyone truly be impressed?
We need a guy who has experience building a team from nothing

The list includes coaches who have won a championship, who have almost won a championship (2), who have overperformed in a lousy franchise (Flores) and several coordinators with clear qualifications and promise.
That’s not impressive? Do we need to resuscitate Vince Lombardi to get people to like the slate?

Lombardi doesn’t need to be resuscitated. He can handle the load where he is
All coordinators are a shot in the dark and most of them wind up not being very good.
Giants just hired three in a row, all of whom were terrible. Daboll seems like a completely "meh" hire. Much rather go with a guy who proven himself as a HC. I would even take McDaniels over Daboll or another coordinator.
Sure sounds like you don’t know what you want.
Graham
Anaromo (sp?)
Frazier
Quinn
Flores
Don’t think that’s by mistake.

And I guess this makes sense. Buffalo is built around a defensive minded coach.

Any GM in the league would have interviewed coaches they know.
Coaches also hire assistants that they are familiar with.
This guy gets it
Also, if we are interviewing the Cincy DC, I’d love to talk to DeMeco Ryan’s as well.
And not that I expect it but it goes without saying I would hope they at least did due diligence on guys like Harbaugh and Payton.
The coaches we are looking at are another meh-ish uninspiring tier below.
And then there is Mcadoo/Shurmer/Judge.
While I understand the interest in these guys, I can't forgive McDaniels' drafting of Tebow in the first round, I'm too immature to get past Pederson's Philadelphia-ness, and Harbaugh is a bit on the kooky side for me.
It's more like they throw a rock at a window
And no thanks to a candidate who pulled the crap he pulled with the Colts.

My read on it is that Daboll is already the leader in the clubhouse and now they're compiling notes for where they want to go on defense.
But that's potentially my own preference for Daboll (out of that list) informing my POV.
Hard pass on the block headed moron.

Got to hope NYG (Schoen, in particular) is able to identify a coach with what it takes to win a SB.

Son, I like the cut of your jib.
