Why would the owners be involved in the interview process for the head Coach ?
If the choice is Schoen's what value do the owner's bring to the table ?
I hope that they will not interfere in the selection

While I didn't want him as GM I do think the last 2 years are a result of Abrams bending over backwards to accommodate Gettleman's awful decisions. Over the past decade they've been in good shape with the cap.

For a $20M contract do they have right to be involved? I think so. It's their money

Ownership is always going to want to be in the room when seeing who is going to run their multi billion dollar franchise

Is this a real question? You think the owners of any other billion $$$ businesses don't meet with CEO level hires?
Abrams had increasing exposure and responsibilities. Anyone who has ever worked near a C suite knows Abrams was being groomed for a peaceful transition of power.
That didn’t happen, and now his seat at the big kids table was taken away.

If you’re Abrams, you have to be looking elsewhere with another franchise. It’s gotta hurt for him, he’s been a good soldier. But there is no future with NYG.
what "leading the search" means. Schoen will bring the candidates HE wants interviewed, to a meeting with him and the owners. Schoen will tell them who HE wants, the three will discuss it and make a decision.
Frankly, ownership would be irresponsible if they weren't directly involved.
owner. What is clearly different about this search is Steve Tisch. This is by far the most involved he's been with the on the field football program since the day he became co-owner.
When Judge was hired Tisch was a rubber stamp and was not in the original interviews.
Quote:
Co-owner Steve Tisch apparently pleaded with his partner, John Mara, to ‘blow up’ the model two years ago and start from the ground up. Mara balked and stayed the course, giving general manager Dave Gentleman a vote of confidence and Joe Judge was hired as the head coach.
You know the rest. The Giants have been going downhill with no brakes ever since. They finally crashed last week when they were embarrassed by a marginal Washington team at home in a game that saw the coaching staff basically circle the wagons and surrender.

You left out a key phrase ... 'having to bend over backwards.' Abrams couldn't say no. Gettleman was his boss.
Agreed. I don't know how anyone can say with certainty
That our cap situation is on Abrams. When your boss tells you to do something at your job does that mean you always agree with your boss by default? When your boss tells you to do something that you don't agree with, do you say no and don't do it or do you do what he/she asks?
It ridiculous to put this at the hands of Abrams. Unless someone can tell me something egregious he has done with the contracts then I can't blame him. Does that mean he stays? No. But it will be Schoen's decision and if he wants Abrams then nobody should have a problem with that either.
Could see him moving to the league office

Of course he shouldn’t, but he was for the last two HC hires. That’s the point.
exactly, why would he?

Giants’ Steve Tisch pushed John Mara to fire Joe Judge - ( New Window )
