Whatever Dan Marino said the same thing about being young and having a lot of football left when he lost at the show as a rookie. I don't think he ever played in an AFC championship game again let alone a SB.
Allen being 25 doesn't mean anything. Nothing is ever guaranteed in the NFL. Marino got to a Super Bowl very early and never got back.
The one fan base who is owed by the football Gods is Bills Mafia. That's the 2nd most vile loss I've ever seen in the playoffs besides the Falcons loss to Pats in Super Bowl.
That is indeed the play. If executed correctly, the ball likely gets fielded at the 15; and there is a very good chance - because it's hard to field squib kicks - you eat up 3 seconds.
Those ten yards and 3 second would have been critical here.
SF in 2002 is the one that sticks out the most because it was the playoffs. Flipper Anderson. A ton of regular season games over the last few seasons, which is why I can't wait for Graham to be out of here.
Losses like that were rare 20 years ago. They happened
horribly in the divisional round of the playoffs. I hope if it ever happens to us I can remember what it was like to be out of the playoff race in October.
Would've blamed the Bill QB. Because they think the NFL is one player sport. They might've claimed that Allen could have waited 5 seconds more in the pocket before throwing his final TD.
And not even having any super bowl win in your history to fall back on— just a 25-point blown lead in the super bowl.
Also: if the Rams had actually gone on to lose today that would’ve been a 24 point comeback which would’ve equaled the Giants/9ers game. 2nd largest ever. That’s astonishing to me because between the fumbles and botched snap and missed kick it honestly felt like the Rams self-destructed 10x worse than the Giants did (which is saying something). So the fact the Rams did all that and still won really puts in perspective how bad ‘03 game was.

How about the seahawks to the Pats in the SB
Also: If it was the 2nd most vile loss, 2nd only to the Falcons loss, and the Falcons have also never won a super bowl, how are Falcons fans technically not owed more by the football Gods?
I would also argue that Browns fans have to be up there.
RE: This game reminded me of a higher stakes version of that loss
we had against Dallas in 2003. Similar amount of time left and we allowed them to tie it late and then win it in OT.
Big difference I see is that the Bills needed a touchdown and couldn't afford to get too fancy with the clock. The Giants in 2002 had the game tied, were in field goal range, and called a time out to make sure there was still a few clicks on the clock. All because Fassel was shell-shocked from the San Francisco meltdown.
They have the #1 defense in the NFL....
Probably with you
I was at that game..
☹️

Feel bad for Allen but my guess is he will be doing the same thing to many others over his career...
Patrick Mahomes is 26. Joe Burrow is 25. Justin Herbert is 23.
Unfortunately for Allen and the Bills, it ain't gonna get any easier to make it to a championship.

I don’t feel remotely bad for them.
