I love his energy as an announcer and in that game he showed he was a fan like the rest of us of what we were watching. Plus I think he's one of the better analysts calling games.
I agree. His energy is terrific. Has a true passion for the game
First he's trying to create mystery around if Kelcie caught the ball or not, then he starts squealing like a teenage girl at a Beatles concert when they announce TD. Everyone I was with was appalled.
Yes, he talks too much, but his enthusiasm and knowledge outweighs it
The REAL issue is that Nantz talks too much. What made Madden work is that Summerall didnt talk much and was concise. Nantz is not a play by play guy - he is a studio host used to having to fill time.
Nantz is the one who needs to talk less and give Romo more room
Not a second goes by where he isn’t jabbering. He does have great insights but they’re becoming overshadowed imo by his non-stop talking. Like he’s had 5 cups of coffee and snorted a few rails of meth.

"Appalled"?
really?
"Everyone" was appalled by that?
Yes, appalled. Here is a great ending to one of the greatest games we've seen, and he won't shut up. Appalled.
Primarily an announcer for Packer games he later moved up and partnered with Pat Summeral for national games. Famous for calling games like “Starr…to Dowler…Touchdown! He believed in less was more.
My personal favorite was Giants announcer Chris Schenkel.
Summerall once said that he learned minimalism from Scott. Let the action speak for itself, Scott told him.
He thinks his job it to tell the viewer what the coach is thinking and what the players are thinking or what they should be thinking. Problem is, he ruminates out loud before deciding. They could do this, they could that, they could do the other.
Guys like Greg Olsen and Trent Green are color guys I enjoy listening to more.
Trent Green is really good, one of my favorites. I like Moose as well. I have always felt like he is really knowledgeable and doesn’t show favoritism when commentating Cowboys games.
I can’t stand Joe Buck, but I don’t mind Aikman as a color guy either.
This is the one that was really getting to me after a while this weekend. How many time did we hear "Unbelievable Play, Unbelievable game....." After the 5th or 6th time, I think we can draw the conclusion that what we are seeing really isnt all that unbelievable! Hell, Bradshaw called the 49'ers win over the Bengals unbelievable...he's never seen a game like that before....and he says this while he was standing right next to Strahan, who obviously had participated in a few "unbelievable" games himself in a few playoff runs.
I'm guessing he still processes the game the way he did as a QB right in the thick of things as opposed to someone who watches the game from a distance.
I personally like it because it offers a window into what really happens on the field, on the sideline, in the huddle, etc. but I also see the appeal of the traditional way, especially when done by the best in the business, past and present.
He’s just so over the top and never shuts the hell up. Just as bad if not worse are how he flips flops on things at least a few times a game.
Perfect example late in the game he said “you’ve got to bring pressure here, well maybe not this play”. WTF Tony get off the fence and pick one! Either they have to bring pressure or they don’t.
In the words of Mark Twain, "If I had more time, I would have written less..."
That principle should apply to broadcasting as well.

He took a page out of Ron Burgundy’s playbook

As opposed to fat guys living in their parents basement.
