The Bills/Chiefs game reminded me what caring about football was like. And it dawned on me, I can barely remember the last Giants loss that hurt.
The 2016 playoff game felt over to me when the Pack hit the Hail Mary before half. That game didn’t really hurt.
I think maybe the last game to bum me out was getting blanked by the Falcons in 2012 and hurting the Giants playoff chances. And the last game that hurt the Jackson punt return?
2016 was a completely conventional playoff loss. It sucked, but we were underdogs, GB was the better team, and it played out exactly like it should have.
Last really bad one was the 2008 playoffs.
I dont think any of the losses in recent years hurt because you really expect this team to blow games. For me, you would have to go much farther back to when we lost games where we clearly should have won.
Playoff game vs the 49ers when we had a complete melt down in the 4th QTR blowing a huge lead for example.
You’d never know how well we did given the second half letdown and of course the final score
The last game where I was gutted was probably the Jackson + Dodge game.
I’ve certainly been annoyed by the last 10 years of games. But they’ve stopped bothering me.

The Giants got within a point on a huge play to Tavaris King in the second half.
The DRC injury really took the air out of that game. The Giants defense was predicted on a shutdown secondary, and DRC was fabulous all year.

up 31-10 with around 7 1/2 minutes to play and losing was impossible to fathom. You knew the next week’s game that would have gotten us into the pkayoffs with a win, was NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. They were still numb. Played like zombies

Everyone seems to forget the DRC injury. That was the game changer. If DRC didn't get injured we win that game, even with the dropped passes.
I was embarrassed by that showing, but forget it rather quickly, which was unusual for me

I’m talking like games that ruined your next day.

That game vs the Eagles I was watching at a bar and I was so distraught I left as soon as it ended and forgot to pay my tab which I realized while eating dinner that night. After dinner I went back and paid.
The 2016 playoff loss sucked, but they were bad that whole game, so it didn't "hurt" so to speak.
Giants blow game to Cowboys after questionable play call allows Dallas to come back for 27-26 win - ( New Window )
How could all of those smart people get that so wrong?
I was furious when we lost that Wash game this year. And I was pretty pissed off about the Atlanta and Dallas games too... lol. I think I became numb after the 1st Dallas game this year.

Yes.
Week 2 @ Washington was when it dawned on me that we were 0-2 again and very well should have been 2-0 and pretty much had to be because although Atlanta was coming up next we had a tidal wave of a schedule after that.

I was visiting my parents and the game wasn't on locally so we went out to a bar to watch. I left after the 3rd down play and sat on the sidewalk outside - I heard the punt return but didn't see it. I don't think I actually watched a replay of it until like 2015.
Losses that mattered...probably the Niners playoff game or the Desean Jackson punt return because it was the Eagles...
The shootout in New Orleans
The Last second loss to NE on a 54 yard FG
The last second loss to Carolina after coming back from a 35-7 deficit to tie the game

I'm pretty sure that punt return had Marcellus Rivers as the last line of defense... and I can still see him (in slow motion) in his cement shoes trying to prevent the inevitable. Yeah I am so ecstatic that everyone is stirring up these happy memories... LOL
2019 it was probably the Cardinals game. I wasn't expecting playoffs, but I was hoping that Jones was more along the lines of what he showed in the Bucs/Washington games than what he had shown in the Vikings/Patriots games.
Every year, there's been some point where I hoped that maybe the season wouldn't be so bad and a game in September or October crushed all hope.

Probably a lesson there about unwarranted optimism.

I was home from college for the Christmas break and I had like three people call me on the way home asking me If I could drive home. Then when I realized at dinner what I had done, my dad drove me back to the bar to pay.
Well, at least it seems like maybe the top pick this year is not ideal, so there's that. lol
I vowed I'd never let myself take a loss seriously ever again. Until the Matt Dodge game. Now, I just laugh em off.
You look at that punt again, and there were a crowd of Giants around him. When he muffed the punt, I was ecstatic......then, jaw dropping agony when he came out of that crowd and headed for the goal line. It took me a while to absorb that one.
