or the heart of a lion creates winning? Or maybe it's a little of both?
I'm just asking because in watching the Giants over the past several years, I haven't seen a whole lotta players showing the heart of a lion. When the Giants lose, they seem to go down quite easily without much of a fight.
I don't know how the Giants can look at each other in the locker room, in the huddle, or on the field and believe they are going to win until they actually do...on the regular.
And it starts with your best players. Those guys better be winners. You think that the guys in the offensive huddle are looking at Daniel Jones and Barkley and going - don't worry - these guys are going to get it done when it matters most...I don't think so.
You think this year guys were prepping for games thinkin, we better be dialed in b/c these guys are going to give us a game plan we can win with....I don't think so.
That's why Judge had to go, that's why Jones/Barkley have to go...there's no way this team is going to win with any of them being a part the franchise turning it around.

Interesting observations. Many years ago, back in the 1970s, Harry Carson got so sick of losing he sorta went off the rails and made some crazy remarks about his next options in life, or something like that. Maybe it was just another era, but our Hall of Fame middle linebacker took losing personally. I'm not sure there's much of that on this current roster. Our new General Manager, Joe Shoen, needs to find such players in the upcoming Draft.
It's going to take some superhuman efforts from some extraordinary people to make the Giants believe they can win again.

Exactly. That's what concerns me most about the Giants. That's why 1964-1980 is always a threat to repeat itself.
Sometimes the only way to break a long-term losing cycle is to cut (or trade) the players who are part of that losing cycle. Fair or unfair... sometimes it just has to be done. And maybe it's the best thing for the player as well, who may end up with a team with an entirely different mind-set, and winning record.
If winning has to create a heart of a lion, it’s not a heart of a lion, it’s just a manifestation of winning.
HMWGs, overachievers, are your lion hearts.
$1M talent, $.10 brains, not so much.

You raise an interesting point. Implicitly you are sorta saying that either one is born with "the heart of lion," or they will never develop one. Nature vs nurture.
If your team doesn't have it you either need to find more guys with it to influence the rest of the team or find a way to start winning.
