I was just wondering how asshats who were connected under the Reese, Gettleman, and now Schoen are connected. I'm talking about asshats who claim to have insight now to what the Giants are thinking in the draft.
Do they know Schoen? Are there others in the Giants org (ownership?, scouts?) who have insights into Schoen's thinking? Do we believe that the owners are the real decision makers so it doesn't matter what Schoen thinks?
Just curious, it surprises me to read some already posting as though they have inside knowledge into the Giants thinking for this draft.
Does anyone find that timing a little curious?
I remember when I wanted the Giants to select Aaron Donald in the draft and there were some who said he didn't fit the type of Giants DT. That made sense historically, and it also was possible that one would have insight into their thinking in structuring the draft board.
I don't understand how any asshat can claim to know what "types" of players the Giants might be dismissing right now. It would seem that the slate should be blank in terms of what the org's thinking is.
Gonna be a beat writer type of year. Hopefully soon lol

In a big company like that, I suppose there are people who could have connections with people on the organizational/money side of things as opposed to the football/scouting side of things who would have insight on the latter and who would have much more job security since they're more like paper pushers.
NYG did think Donald was undersized, I shared it.
Maybe you know better than I do, but shouldn't Giants fans be expecting a shakeup to the evaluation process now that Schoen is on board? In other words, wouldn't it be curious if the Giants simply went forward with draft profiles determined under the Gettleman regime? Why wouldn't there be an expectation of a new way of evaluating players?
I appreciate your inputs JonC just trying to figure out how anybody could have a sense of how Schoen will assemble the board, even long-term talent evaluators within the front office. It would seem that his eyes have been squarely set on finding a head coach, and one would hope that the new GM and new HC would be the ones deciding what kinds of players they want to go after in April.
No?
Then there are the ones who build a reputation after getting something right and keep making predictions based on little or no information until they completely discredit themselves.
The draft is a process and we are a long way away, no free agency yet, etc. So some people do have connections but you need to give a lot of tolerances and realize a ton of fluidity.
Think about what he's saying. First it was fans have no right to criticize the owners because it hurts their feelings. Now it's fans shouldn't have opinions on anything since they don't know anyone or anything. Not on GMs, coaches, players, etc. Just pay your money and be grateful the Giants allow you to. Someone should clue him in that if the "fans' that he has such distain for weren't engaged 24/7 365 about the Giants he wouldn't have gotten rich enough to forget our names. Classic case of a guy who has become so privileged and entitled he has lost touch with the real world.
Historically, undersized guys like Slater and Donald have had no shot of being Giants
Off ball LB’s like Isaiah Simmons - no shot
Character concerns (Parsons)- no shot
So it wasn’t really hard to rule guys out from being picked, asshat or not

I listened to that podcast, I didn’t get that tone from Papa at all. I did hear the quote you refer to, I just didn’t think it was offensive
Actually Papa has been pretty critical of the Giants often this season. He s no going to bash ownership, and he shouldn’t, that’s not his role.
But he has been very forthcoming about the need for change.
I think everybody was caught off guard by the Daniel Jones pick. Did people know Andrew Thomas was going to be the pick? I don't think anyone had Toney on their radar last year or the trade back.
I often see attention seekers this time of year with elaborate/detailed "information" that's just not true and/or extremely hard to get. Don't pay attention to them.
There are only a few here that seem legit from my eyes and ears. I've noticed JonC and hitdog have shared some of the information circling the inner circles over the years. Listen to them and be skeptical of any others.
