This account is legit. Even thought we're not currently compliant with Rooney rules.

#BREAKING
The New York Giants are expected to offer Brian Daboll their head coaching job per league source.

I’m sure they will interview Flores in person still. Seems Quinn has other options.
Either Flores or Frazier will need an in person interview. Graham doesn't satisfy the requirement because he is an internal candidate.
And the purpose of the rule is to get minority candidates in front of decision makers and expand their personal networks. In that respect it is not obsolete.
and "expected" in unspecific and lacks meaningful details. Truth is, this is so lacking in terms of meaningful details that the probability of it actually happening is only marginally more likely to happen if whoever posted this actually did hear something verses if they made it up.
This is a tried and true Twitter practice by these anon accounts. They "break news" by reporting on what's rumored and most of us would guess would be the case. Then they pat themselves on the back for being first. If they miss, they just delete and move on to the next obvious prediction.
Correct, this is what guys like Incarcerated Bob have done for years. They have no sources but claim they do by listing the most likely candidates. Then if he is wrong he will just make a claim that whoever was hired “blew them away and stole the job”. With FA’s they list the most likely teams to sign them. Then they often list a “mystery team” that way if they are wrong they can still claim that they were right by claiming that the team that signed them was the mystery team.
RE: How are they not compliant with the Rooney Rules?
It's nice, but not essential if they had the head coach at the senior bowl. It doesn't matter that much, that coach will likely be their anyway. Outside of that the combine is the next big marker. So if they have the coach hired by the end of this week, then the senior bowl deadline will be hit.
I'd expect a few more second interviews over the next few days.
Every 5 minutes someone who doesn't understand the rule AND didn't read the thread expresses their confusion about what is going on despite it being explained multiple times.

Agreed, this thread is cringe.
This kind of thing was alluded to on one of the GM search threads
Minds are probably made up well in advance behind closed doors and the rest is for show.
Schoen didn't walk into his interview without the name of a coach he wanted to hire. If he's staking his career, he's going to want to go with a guy he has worked with and knows he can work with.
I am reading the thread. I was under the understanding that the GM did the interview with Frazier in person with the owners virtual.. was wondering if the Rooney rule specifically says interview in person must be with owners not just the GM ?
The rule is fine and necessary in an insular, nepotism-driven community powered almost exclusively by networking connections.
Fans declaring every black interview a "rooney rule" is what's insulting.
It's insulting but it's entirely bc the Rooney Rule exists. The rule itself doesn't do anything to help make more black head coaches. GMs and owners will hire who they want, anyway. And they do hire black coaches with regularity, and did so before the rule as well.
And I say this while agreeing with you that it is, at minimum, poor form to assume a minority candidate is only getting an interview to satisfy the rule requirement.
It may end up being correct but any of us could say the same thing. Giants ARE likely to hire Dabol. I think most of us see that as the probable outcome. I believe it could change based on the upcoming interviews.
yada yada
Hence why it's not legit. Why would the Giants risk breaking the Rooney Rule to make an offer a day or two before they've satisfied it?

I mean isn't it obvious? You just follow the account for a month, Chris.

This is the right take. The Twitter account is almost certainly bogus, the "report" is probably bullshit, and yet ultimately it will probably be true.
Didn't they meet with Frazier?
gtt350 = Chief Justice John Roberts.
No.
Because he is an internal candidate. Internal candidates do not apply to the RR.
Yep. They met with Frazier. So, the rule has been met.

The GM meet with Frazier in person.. how does not comply with the Rooney rule ?
Yep. They met with Frazier. So, the rule has been met.
Virtual meetings do not count toward the Rooney Rule.

The odds are that Daboll will be hired.
But they still haven't even interviewed Flores yet.

I mean we all "expect it", but we sure as heck didn't expect Judge when he got hired, so who knows.
True. But there aren't anyother strong candidates, anyways.

Doesn’t the Frazier interview count? Or does it have to be in person for the Rooney rule?
I'd expect a few more second interviews over the next few days.

Exactly
To be honest, I would prefer Poles/Flores over Schoen/Daboll if i Had to choose them as a combo.

Kind of curious timing. There are also 8 current vacancies. How about we re-visit in a few weeks?

Premature and would lead to league penalties if it was true. The Giants aren't that stupid.
Are you sure they aren't?
