NFT: Anyone gone through a ruptured Achilles tendon recovery?

Ruptured my Achilles tendon yesterday. Anyone have any insight on what to expect recovery wise? Thanks
yes in 2008 I was 45 years old

I ruptured it end of April.
Recovered pretty well. Had surgery was out of the boot by end of June. Walking on the treadmill by July and light jogging by August. It wasn't 100% for about 10 months though. It was stiff for awhile. I am light on my feet and I think that helped. Good luck!
Get well soon, but

For many it does go well with work. A 9 to 12 month recovery. Mine took years, two to walk straight and 6 years out now I still don't run or jump much. Was in forties at the time. Athletic in shape, played college ball..etc. I've met people in seventies that recovered better with my same doc too. I went surgery route and no regrets. No one out works me but then it is an injury where too much can be a detriment. Never had something on my life where the harder you work the worse it can be. In the end I was an odd case on the curve. I don't say this to scare you, just respect this injury and know that could be up/downs. Best of luck and happy to answer questions. If going surgery, the sooner the better no reason to wait.
Thank you for the responses.

Yes it's going to be a challenge. I'm 62 and I still teach and coach. Figure I can use this to motivate my athletes to overcome challenges. Got to always look for the positive. I have a good doctor to work with, thank God.
