He seemed very noncommittal about returning/the future in yesterday's presser. He's said-perhaps somewhat in jest-that he wants to play until 50, but I wouldn't be shocked if that's the last time we see him out on the field. There's been a lot of rumors recently from guys like Rappoport that there's a sense among some in the TB locker room that this was it for him.
On the other hand, I'll be floored if Rodgers hangs it up.
He needs that team to be full strength.
Brady admittedly said no decision coming soon and he needs to take some time, frustrated in how yesterday went down, didn't like the penalty called on him, etc.
Decent career, if it's really over...
He'll start working out and won't feel right for 2-3 days afterward, then try again, and feel the same. And that will be the day he'll have to hang it up.
I think the Bucs are going to have a ton of personnel changes which could make Brady a bit uncomfortable.
Just like Rodgers in GB.
Winning can consume the reality of the other factors: the alleged turmoil, the FAs, and bodies can break down between January and July( we see it with RBs suddenly losing the half step).
A great career, a new clothing line, $1B, nice family, a Hollywood appearance, etc. And sooner or later the OL will break down, the WRs will be covered close, and a Defensive player will be thirsty to be the guy that forces him out to the sideline, maybe permanently.
He had games like that here and there for the last few seasons, and then the next game he's out there throwing frozen ropes right on the money.
I think he'll come back for one more year. It will be sad to see him go, best player i've ever seen regardless of sport
He was undone by his OL. If Wirfs play who knows?
That said he missed more throws this year then i remember. Nothing for a normal QB but for him, I thought he dropped off visibly this year.
I think he'll be leaning to continue playing. I think most people would consider him in the 5-10 range of QBs and towards the bottom of that tier now.
statistically this year.
Factor in too that he did that "Man in the Arena" doc for ESPN+ this year, given its retrospective nature it seems like something he would do if he knew this was the end of the line.
Not sure how those respective contracts stack up this year, but at least their division is still pretty weak.
What's wrong with you? Seriously?
I think that confused state he was in after the game was still she'll shock from the way it ended. From the improbable comeback to tie it to a heartbreaking loss in a flash. I would be shocked if he was comfortable enough to quit with that as his last game.
As for Gronk, he even said he wouldn't necessarily be done even if Brady is. His time off really seemed to rejuvenate him mentally.
Playing football at this point is as much selfish as anything else. He doesn't need the money, he doesn't need to subject himself to any more injury. He's got a future outside of the sport.
I can't imagine how difficult it will be for him to finally stop playing, especially knowing he's got more in the tank...but at some point you want to enjoy the rest of your life, too.
How is she going to "force" him to retire? I don't know, maybe, just maybe, it's a collaborative decision? I guess Tom just isn't the man of the house like you are.

it is his "c-word" wife who is the problem trying to force him to retire

c'mon dude, totally unnecessary.

Matt - it could end worse ways.
No playoffs. Playoff blow out loss.
He would retire at 44 leading the entire NFL in several passing categories just for this season. Incredible.
That's a pretty darn good way to close it out, short of a SB.

So the problem isn't the poster calling a woman he's never met the "c-word", but the poster calling him out on it? Interesting.
God forbid if his wife and family want him to stop playing…
Another player*
Wilson or Brady on the Colts could be really interesting.
