How does a Daboll-Vic Fangio pairing sound? Or how about a Daboll-Don “Wink’’ Martindale duo? Or a Daboll-Mike Zimmer tandem? Keeping things closer to home, why not a Daboll-Patrick Graham tag team?
and that counts for something, but the defense wasn't THAT good. You can call it a bright spot, but when everything else was so terrible, just being merely below average can qualify as a bright spot.
The defense was like a star in the night sky that you can only see when you keep it in your periphery. If you look directly at it, it disappears.
I'd be cool with Fangio, Wink, or Zimmer. Graham? Hard pass. & if Graham is our DC, that's evidence to me that John is weighing in &...(banging head on desk).
any confidence. They couldn’t stop ANY team, I mean ANY, within two minutes of half, I mean historically bad. Couldn’t stop the run and couldn’t come up with any schemes to get blitzes to the QB when needed. They also could not get teams off the field when they absolutely needed to. I’d so we don’t need to keep the status quo on Defense either!

Agreed and some of the early games (as best I can remember) in the season were losses mainly due to the defense. They certainly improved as the year went on but not enough to justify bringing him back in my mind anyways.
He's head and shoulders above the other names listed.
Fangio can wait for Quinn to get his head coaching gig and then go to Dallas. Or wait to see if Harbaugh goes to Vegas and go there. He could also end up in Baltimore. Lots of better options for Fangio than the Giants
The NY Giant defense still had plenty high priced talent on it, and it made several extremely average QBs look pretty good too many times last season. Further, they simply could not get stops when needed to keep games within the margin. Lastly, too many guys underperformed on his defense in comparison to the very few that played at/over expectations.

Why?
& I know there's a Patriots connection, but we can do much better than Graham IMO.
Talent in the secondary wasted by playing the prevent a win defense. No aggression.
I want a return to Giant football. No to the west coast offense. No to the Rod Rust bend but don't break defense.
No to Graham as DC.

Mara knows nothing about football. Let's hope Schoen has the authority to make all the hires himself without input from the Chief Clown.
What DC is saving the world with no linebackers and no pass rushers? Don't make this about Graham's ability.
Graham has to take ownership on much of this.
But its not my favorite style, and im in favor of a completeltt new set of eyes. I love Martindales approach.
+1 !
