GBN Preliminary Top 25 for 2023 (you read that right!)

M.S. : 1/25/2022 7:29 am

January 24, 2022 - 10:39 pm

According to GBN Draft Report:
"Way too early Top 25 for 2023 … “A lot of good players!’ That’s what GBN Chief Scout Larry Parker had to say after he had put together a very preliminary Top 25 ranking of players for the 2023 draft for those who want a bit of an idea what’s coming down the tubes in future years."

For this long-time Giants (and crazy Draftnick) fan, it's NEVER too early to look ahead since the road to prosperity begins with our team hitting solid gold in the next two drafts.

I'm assuming B.J. Ojulari (ranked #12) is the kid brother of our very own Azeez Ojulari. And ranked #3 is my very favorite college player -- Will Anderson who reminds me a lot of (shhh, hush your mouth) Lawrence Taylor.

The Giants

are very unlikely to be highly competitive next year - so they should earn a high draft pick (yet again) next year...and there's nothing wrong with keepin an eye on the future.

BUT...it's amazing how different things will be come next year's draft date.

Lot's of talent in the 2023' draft.

This is why I hope we come away with some extra draft capital in next years draft. I think we need to land Stroud or Young to be our future franchise QB.
Anderson has major legal issues
Mark in ATL : 1/25/2022 7:53 am : link
That could derail his football career.
So, we need to be among the 2 shittiest teams next year
BigBlueNH : 1/25/2022 7:57 am : link
to get a top QB, if this is how things shake out. We'll probably win 3 games and wind up picking 3rd.
I’m sorry, it’s UGA’s Anderson that has the legal issues.
Mark in ATL : 1/25/2022 7:58 am : link
Dumb mistake.
GBN's Chief Scout probably needs to watch other teams
Jimmy Googs : 1/25/2022 8:02 am : link
than just Alabama, Ohio St and Georgia.

Not that those aren't good players that will likely find their way into Rd 1 or so, but come on with this ranking...
Anderson might be the edge rushing savior we need
The_Boss : 1/25/2022 8:46 am : link
We need a motto for gamedays next year. "Lose today for Will A"?
Well, its early..
Jim in Forest Hills : 1/25/2022 8:47 am : link
but yeah, I think Young and Stroud are the shizzy.

Shroud I'm not sold on yet.
barens : 1/25/2022 9:20 am : link
He's not playing in the SEC, and he has one of the best OL's, the best receivers in college football, and maybe on of the best RB's as well.

Bryce Young we have seen under pressure, and I think what we've seen is pretty darn good so far. Shroud, what would he look like behind the Giants OL?

Behind the Giants offensive line Shroud would be shredded.

Could have said the same about Burrow coming out of LSU
I dont

See it at all with Young. Definitely not sold on Stroud yet either

I'm on the same page as you re Young and Stroud. I was hoping to see OSU make it into the CFP so we could see Stroud vs Bama or UGA. Hopefully we get to see that next year. Young is #1 imo due to the fact I have seen him play the best.
Bryan Bresee is listed at 9. he's an animal.
markky : 1/25/2022 10:30 am : link
he was injured last year so he missed some games. he's my dark horse to go #1 overall when he comes out.
Let the Tank begin

!
Payton Thorne QB MSU
Chocco : 1/25/2022 10:44 am : link
Not on the list, but someone to keep an eye on. He played very well as a sophomore and if he continues to improve next year he may be able to play himself into the 2023 draft.

It's never a bad idea to accumulate extra draft capital but A LOT can change between now and the 2023 draft. Tua and Darnold were both guys who started to show their warts during their last cfb season. As an even more extreme example, look at Rattler. I'm not convinced either Stroud or Young are elite, franchise changing talents.
amazing jordan addison still standing on the shoulders of the heroic

So did Joe Burrow and look how he turned out so far. Get off that narrative, CJ Stroud is a beast of a QB
It's very early
The_Boss : 1/25/2022 12:09 pm : link
And i know it really didn't happen this year, but I do expect to see some QB's not on this list play themselves into discussion (Quinn Ewers, perhaps?). JT Daniels was that guy I was hoping for last year and he's now in the transfer portal, so it's hard with QB's a year out.
Some good talent...
bw in dc : 1/25/2022 12:11 pm : link
but Will Anderson is the best talent by a good margin, even after you adjust for the demand at the QB position.

No QB will look as good behind the Giants OL, we need to improve it. I'd like to see Stroud against top comp, but it's not like he played in the ACC this year.

I like Stroud far more than Young. He's bigger, and the ball just jumps out of his hand. Great long ball thrower. If I had the #1 pick, I'd be waiting at the dais for Goodell to show up.

Huge, huge difference between the competition between OSU and LSU. It's not even close. Burrow did his damage against the absolute best, can't say the same for Shroud, that seems painfully obvious. I will say that he is just a sophomore, and he's got a ways to go, but we are not going to know until he plays against teams consistently that can put more pressure on him.

Stroud is the better than Young. Better size, better arm, better athlete.

The 2023 class is overrated right now. I'm curious to see how it actually plays out.
