RJ Barrett
RJ Barrett shot 5-for-10 from the free-throw line tonight. “That’s 10 points,” he tells reporters in Cleveland. “We lose by two…I can’t be out there letting the team down missing that many free throws…I’m gonna fix that." |
That right there is why he is the leader of the team and the best player the Knicks have. Give me that.
Thibs leash is getting much, much shorter.
Randle just needs to go. He's the same player he was his whole career. Last year was the anomaly.
Ironic, Quickleys nickname is IQ, especially when he shows little of it at times.
You can trade Randle

name is starting to circulate around the NBA
Which team would trade for him at this point ?
There are teams that would trade for Randle, his deal is not awful for a 3rd option type of guy
The biggest issue with Randle is he won't accept being the 3rd option because in his head he is Lebron James. I just can't believe another Executive would see how he is playing this season and want that contract on his roster for the next 4 years but if there is then hopefully the Knicks jump at the opportunity to trade him

This. From what I've read multiple western conference teams are interested. I heard the Kings too. They have tons of guards and wings, but besides Holmes and maybe Metu they are soft up front. Bagley is probably a goner soon.
Randle for Barnes and a first. Burks for a first. Cut Kemba. Let's go.
36 points in the first half. 80 in the second half. Wow.
I’m guessing Reddish wasn’t acquired just to be flipped within a month, so he’s probably safe too.
I want to add Mitch but he can’t stay on the court.
The official NBA game highlight package is worth watching for how the Wiz blow the 35 point lead.
But then it leaves out most of the good stuff in the wild ending. Five second violation. Four point play
For that, there are a number of youtube vids of the full ending already up.
Worth a watch.
Barnes and a first for Randle. One week away... Feb 2nd LFG

Thanks just caught the highlights. Listen that was one of the epic endings ever but there's no way Beal fouled him lol
Depends how you look at it, they are in desperate need of a wing, Brunson doesnt play PG for them, Luka is their point, so they would trade Brunson to get a wing to help Luka

Brunson this will make it harder for mavs to trade Brunson.

Maybe we trade them Cam. :-)

noooooo :)
If that were the case, the Mavs would be looking for shooting in return. Obviously, Burks is not enough but I'd deal Obi, Burks and the Dallas first round pick back to Dallas, to get Brunson.
Still appears though that there is no deal without Grimes.
Of course, if the Knicks feel they can sign Brunson outright, then they shouldn't deal. But I think Bird rights are really crucial here. Deal for Brunson now, and the Knicks would have the ability to surpass the cap to sign him.
Knicks desperately need a PG. And we have kicked this can down the road for 20 years. Brunson could be exactly what the doctor has ordered.

virtually everyone is available
RJ better not be available. He’s the only guy I’ll be pissed about them moving.
Although they almost dealt him the start of last season, he’s not available in trade talks that don’t bring in a top 15 player

That would have been incredibly stupid and Knicks-esque.
Whatever the case I just want to break this trend where the Knicks see many a player regress and things turn south. I'd like to think this regime won't be too quick to give up on a player like Randle. If he can be moved in the right deal I am all for it, but don't just dump him. That's stupid.
Waiting for the consolidation type trade. Too many pretty good or good young players not enough star power in the back court. Get it done.

adding real fucking pgs to this team for the first time in 50 years wouldn't help things, since Randle is the only ball handler on the team that doesn't do god awfully stupid shit (IQ shooting from lake erie during the biggest possession) or disappear completely (Hi Alec Burks)
We have no PGs. Ever. For about 5 minutes I thought we did have them this year but then Kemba turned into a smiling matador who shoots well once a week, Rose broke in half and IG stayed IQ.
No PGs. That's why Randle is struggling. Most scoring forwards do when the PGs are garbage.
Could be wrong, but when in doubt, look at the glaring weaknesses and go from there. The best PG on this team the last 2 years was Elfrid Fucking Payton.
IQ had 6 assists to 1 TO last night. He may be shooting like shit. But he's a good point guard.
That last sentence disqualifies you from ever commenting on Knicks threads.
Trading Randle for Barnes is far more damaging to the Knicks than anything I say on here.
I wasn't even condemning IQ as much as just saying the Knicks don't have any PGs. If IQ is your best PG you're in trouble.
Oh get over it. It's true anyway. We don't even HAVE A PG right now! That in and of itself renders things true because as much as some here might not want to admit it, Payton is better than air.
Again though, that's not the point. The point is we don't have any PG! You want to argue about how bad Payton was be my guest. Don't care.
Grimes is 14-29 on *guarded* catch and shoot attempts, per Synergy. He's in the 97th percentile in the NBA and 11th out of 324 qualified players
Legitimate two-way player at a position of need now and for the future.
The New York Knicks maximized their spending power last offseason to put the strongest and deepest roster possible. In doing so, they lost a lot of flexibility over the next few seasons and their best path to improving the team is through trade. They have a handful of expendable veterans, many young players, and a surplus of first-round draft picks to facilitate a deal.
The Knicks could be on the search for another new point guard with Kemba Walker‘s knee issues flaring up again. They could pursue guards such as De’Aaron Fox, Dennis Schroder, or Jalen Brunson. According to SNY’s Ian Begley, Brunson shares many connections with the Knicks organization that could make him a strong trade target for them. A package centered on Mitchell Robinson, who is currently extension-eligible and set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, or sending back the Mavericks their 2023 first-round, could make sense.
The Knicks traded a first-round pick that may not convey for a while to take a shot on Cam Reddish. With a young core that features him, RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, Obi Toppin, Quentin Grimes, and Miles McBride, they have more than enough recent draft selections to develop. They could look to package some of their future draft picks and young players for the next available All-Star that becomes available. They have all their own first-round picks and a whopping 15 second-round picks over the next seven drafts to play with.

Same here. Won't be a star but has a VERY high floor - sniper from three, elite perimeter defender, good rebounder (for a wing) and competes his ass off every second he's out there. He's my favorite Knicks player in quite some time. There's a reason teams keep asking for him.
